The Best Of Internet Marketing October 2014

This is the 23rd post in the series which shares all of my favourite internet marketing posts from the past month.

There is an awful lot of junk to sort through every month so here are the best bits according to me!

The Best Posts Of October 2014

October was a pretty turbulent month with Google releasing the latest Penguin update on a Friday night right before the busy Christmas period.

Other than that we have seen some fantastic content published this month including lots of case studies routed with data and real world advice.

Let’s get stuck in!

SEO & Link Building

Google officially released Penguin 3 which was just a data refresh. Some people were hit and we are seeing some case studies surface already.

With the update happening it’s a good idea to brush up on your SEO ranking factor knowledge and don’t forget Panda.

It might also be a good time to revisit your Google Webmaster Tools knowledge has quite a lot has changed this year with the tool.

Brian Dean shared some great link advice and have you thought about getting edu links with social media?

Social Media

Here are 12 great free social media tools that you can use in your business or follow this strategy to help grow your following.

I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with Facebook Ads (right now I have 1,125 ads running across 14 campaigns) so these awesome split tests will help save money and make money.

You can also take advantage of social media competitions to help capture more emails.

Blogging & Content

If you are just getting started with blogging then follow this recipe for success along with my take.

Once you choose to start a blog you can take advantage of these awesome plugins before tripling traffic.

If you publish content regularly then you’ve probably sent a few take down notices in your time & if you haven’t you need to learn how to defend against content theft.

The top bloggers in my income report roundups all have their own products, it’s interesting to see how that evolves.

General Bits

Something you might not know about me is I suck at remembering things. So learning active recall memory is helpful especially when soy practica hablo espanol.

I also love anything that helps me save time or get more done in less time so predrafting emails is a great idea!

Thats one of the best lists I’ve seen to date on Google’s “quality factors”. Of course we know from testing plenty of those positive or negative ranking factors are incorrect or at least negligible at best.

A lot of good reads this month!

Love your roundups :D how’s Spanish going for you? I found that grammar isn’t as hard as memorizing vocabulary and understanding what “lo”, “que” and “de” mean when mashed together :D

Nice post! Agree with above it is quite short! Yikes I’d stay away from suggesting people get ‘edu’ links now – I’d always suggest that compelling long form content is the way forward backed up by outreach. Good tips though!
