Hello Matt, I’m using moz trial and now i want to upgrade pro version. About spam analysis part , what is it? can i find all spam websites?

    • Matthew Woodward

It just gives you a ‘spam score’ based on how many potentially spammy signals it finds

I found your site a couple of days ago….Amazed by the kind of value you provide on your site…
    Very good tutorials.

Hello Matt, this is really a great, nice and informative review.

Arguably, I’ve heard of Moz before but I never knew it’s such a powerful tool like this and as such, I gave little to no interest in it. But your review is kind of an eye opener.

I never knew such a tool exist that can help me monitor my website and currently, I need a tool that can help me keep track of activities going on with my site both off-site and on-site metrics.

I guess I need to start with the free trial and explore this.

No problem, they have grown a lot since then and there are other tools you could use to achieve similar things if you don’t like moz

Nice post though, I have been using the free trial & found in the crawl test it’s not crawling all the pages of the website, is it because of free version. Also if you can suggest some tool wherein i can check how many urls on the webtsite are redirected with 302.

I would speak with Moz support directly about that

Hello Matt, i am very impressed with you site and the info and knowledge it contain. i am a total newbie to the world of seo, can you give me some advice of where i should start. do you have a product for beginners?

  8. talha

    hey matt :)
so i was wondering this post is quiet old, and seomoz is moz now.. can you please make an over the shoulder video of the new moz pro account.. *if anything is changed*

Or the above tutorial is fine, if i want to go for moz pro.

    What you suggest?

Actually I was going to do a more detailed course but after speaking to Rand recently I realise he is very closed minded when it came to SEO which will in turn be reflected in his business.

Oh so, should i go for it? any good alternate?

I already have SEO power suite. and i am planing on getting semrush too.

What i am looking for is, a list of all the tools or services that i can use for a blog.

You shouldn’t be buying tools for the sake of buying tools. You should build out your strategy and then see which tools fit with your strategy

            You are right i know.
As i have started everything again, i was a little confused. so thats why i asked you about the tools.

Thanks :) Although they shut down their affiliate program =/

  10. Matthew Chalk

    Great article Matt :)

I’ve personally found “Majestic SEO” to be a much more up to date resource when it comes to checking the back links of sites compared to MOZ.

Was just wondering if you also agreed with this.

  11. Jim

    Hi Matt.

Just to let you know your links for SEOmoz is not working.

Thanks for the great overview of the product.

Thanks for the heads up – they killed their affiliate program :(

Doesn’t the fact that you were using their “affiliate” program kind of torpedo your potential for an unbiased review?

I have been known SEOMoz for a few recent months, many people say that this tool helped them improve the rankings of their websites. after reading your review, I believe that this tool is what I seeking. thank for your sharing.

      No worrys!

  13. Andy C

I have been aware of SEOMoz for a few years but to be honest it just seemed so complex – now thanks to your overview I must ‘jump in’ for at least the free month’s trial, it is incredibly powerful and I know I will spend hours tracking results & data!

    Cheers Matt!

Thanks very much – certainly one of the better trials out there!

  14. Iain

    Great overview.

I have been messing around with Raven Tools and they have much of the same functionality with some other things thrown in there as well.

I still need to try out SEOmoz, a fully functional trial is pretty awesome, but at 99$ a month that would be out of my budget for cool tools.

How do you think you could get the most out of the 30 day Trial?

    • Matthew Woodward
      May 26th, 2013 at 10:57 am

I might take a look at raven tools as well as they are the only viable competitor that I’m aware of and would like to get the balanced view of both services.

I have used SEOMoz for a while but never really delved into Raven much =\

Just add your site to the trial and it pretty much tells you what you need to do to get the most out of it :)

You can actually get quite a bit out of the free 30 day trial. You’ll be able to get a complete on-page analysis which will help you to clean things up, if needed. You’ll get to do a full competitive analysis to see where your competitors rank and what links they have. And you’ll get keyword ranking reports for a month. All pretty valuable info.

Yeah I am amazed at what they actually give you for 30 days :S

  15. Himanshu

Hi Matthew, I have been using SEOMOZ from quite a long time but i feel ahrefs has been better in performing and doing link analysis etc. Still love the grade on page feature of seomoz.
    Excellent Post Thanks.

Yes if you are looking purely for a backlink checker ahrefs database is more complete, but it doesn’t have any of the other tools SEOMoz has.

No worrys glad you enjoy it!

  17. Al Green

I’m about to watch this right now. Thanks a ton for all of your tutorials. I’m a complete rookie, but with the help of all of these I’m starting to figure things out. Still working on the tiered backlinking strategies too.

The only bad thing about your site is that there is too much great info. I’m addicted.

    Thanks again,
