How To Build A Web 2.0 Private Blog Network To Increase Rankings

We’ve seen it time and time again, epic content ranking for awesome search terms.

 How does it get there?
Great content and promotion play a big part when trying to bring in the top spots now. Social sharing, natural backlinks. After all, this is what Google wants to see right?

What about those of us who want to rank Amazon, Adsense or any type of affiliate website for that matter?

The natural backlinks don’t come easy and in most cases, they don’t come at all.

(Download this free link building checklist to learn how to build awesome backlinks)

Would you link to a site like that?

Probably not because chances are you haven’t even heard of it. The truth is sites like that are made to collect commissions and that’s it… Rank and Bank.

This is one of the methods I use to make an income, the 3 step income method involves keyword research, a website and backlink building.

The 3rd step can be the hardest, building external links and ranking on the first page.

So let me introduce you to a simple link building method that’s perfect for these little sites.

What You Will Learn

  • How to build a strong private blog network with web 2.0 sites
  • How to setup expired Tumblrs within minutes

My Web 2.0 Sites Private Blog Network Results

After many late nights and energy drinks, I’ve pumped out some great results by using web 2.0 sites to build a private blog network.

This all came down to testing and tweaking this method until I found my own sweet spot. I was shown this strategy by a buddy of mine and it works really well for both of us.

This one here is a fresh two-week old page that I used for a recent test (more on that test soon).

I’ve already seen some great results considering the competition is pretty strong.

What about some bigger search terms?

This is an old keyword I no longer track, it now sits pretty at 3rd. Here is my last recording from last year, ranked with nothing more than expired web 2.0s.

ranking report

So What’s This All About?

I’m talking about building a high authority expired web 2.0 network to your money site.

high pr backlinks

I buy or scrape expired sites like the ones in the image then point them to my main websites.

Sounds good right?… juiced up web 2.0s ready to go.

We have some great advantages when doing this…

  • They already have natural backlinks
  • They are aged
  • Have good page authority, usually 30+
  • Ready to drop links and send juice

If I was to build a fresh network it would take time before the power started to kick in.

I would have to use something like this gsa search engine ranker tutorial to power them up.

You can expect an increase in rankings within 24 hours sometimes. It really is instant clean juice right to your website.

Although not as strong, this is just like a private blog network but with web 2.0 blogs that are free to use with full control over your links.

How To Build Your Deadly Web 2.0 Private Blog Network

When starting a new private blog network I base my start point on a standard number of expired blogs. I build 24 then let it sit for two weeks once finished to see the full impact.

Sometimes more is needed or that could be enough to get me what I want.

I use loads of Tumblr blogs and that’s because I can set up so many in a short amount of time.

You should be able to get yourself stable on the second page with ease. The first page is also very possible depending on the competition.

Let’s get this bad boy started.

Step One: Finding The Expired Blogs

This really comes down to how much time you have. When I first started I would purchase them but of course, there are some advantages to this and some disadvantages.

Buying them can be good to save time, you can pay the seller extra to get them all signed up for you ready to go.

The disadvantage is you don’t really have control over what you get sent…. The quality isn’t always the best.

When buying you can use websites likes Source Market or Fiverr.

If you want to make things really easy though you can see Matthew’s Domain Hunter Gather review which includes a tool to scrape expired web 2.0 domains.

Not many people sell Weebly or Over-blog.com.

However, if you ask them to do a custom scrape for you, they usually will.

Scraping Them Yourself

This is by far the best way however, it takes the longest. If you don’t have time to sort through them when done this might not be the best option.

But you can expect to find gems like this…

tumblr links

What You Need To Scrape Them Yourself

I use Scrapebox so I’ll give you a rundown on the process I go through to find nice juicy expired blogs.

Just use the default settings to start with, they work fine when starting out.

First you need to gather some proxies, it’s important to use private proxies to get the best results. Go with 10 and load them into the proxy section. Click “Use Proxies” if it’s not checked already.

You will need to upload some keywords. You can find some general large keyword list online by doing a Google search or give this old 100k list a try. Scrapebox also has an in-house scraper if you want to scrape some keywords right from the software.

In the top custom footprint bar is where you enter the site you want to scrape, For example, I’ve entered “site:tumblr.com”

Next, Click “Start Harvesting”.

When the harvester pops up choose the engines you would like to use from the left. The ones I’ve ticked below work great.

At the bottom double check that you are using server proxies, you want to save your own proxies for the next steps.

Now start harvesting, I leave mine going for 24 hours and that’s enough time to collect a large amount of URLs.

Once the harvest is done you should have millions of URLs, it’s time to trim things down.

First, you want to click “Trim” and a drop-down menu will show up then click “Trim To Root”

The same goes for removing duplicates, click “Remove\Filter” then “Remove Duplicates”.

Now in the top menu click “Addons” Then “Show Available Addons”. You want to install “Scrapebox Alive Check” then open it up.

You should now see the alive checker window popup.

You can then import the URLs from the harvester in the bottom left corner. Also, make sure you tick “Use Proxies” because now we need our private proxies to keep things running smooth.

The last thing to do is click “Setup” and delete whatever’s in there then enter “404”. Now click “Ok” then “Start”

easy vps 4

Once finished click “Export” on the bottom right then “Save All Alive To Harvester”.

easy vps 2

You should have a list of expired web 2.0s you can use as backlinks to your websites. There is one more step and that’s finding the most powerful ones. I do this by checking the Page Rank.

As we know Page Rank is dead now but it’s still a good filtering system. The higher the page rank the older they are and the chance of finding ones with awesome backlinks is higher.

Click “Check Pagerank” then “Check URL Pagerank”

Once you have done that you can then export them to a text file by clicking “Export URL List”

checking tumblrs urls

You should have a decent list of URLs to go through once done. It’s time to sort through them and find the available ones.

Bonus Method To Find Expired Web 2.0 Domains Easily

I want to share with you a new method I have been using to find expired web 2.0 domains.

Matthew wrote a huge guide on how to find expired domains recently.

In that guide he shows you how to find normal expired domains and web 2.0 expired domains using the awesome DomainHunterGatherer tool.

Take a look at his video tutorial below-

YouTube video

As you can see DomainHunterGatherer makes it really easy to find relevant, powerful expired web 2.0 domains!

Step Two: Claiming Those Gems

Before we get into this, not every Tumblr is going to be free. Scrapebox checks for 404s however, most of the time Tumblr still won’t let you sign up to them.

There is really no way around this unless you create or find a bot that checks real 404s. Scrapebox is good but it does lack in this department.

Find yourself a website that checks Page Authority. I go with 99Webtools, because it can check 50 at a time for us.

You might need to grab yourself some extra e-mail addresses to register the blog if you don’t have any already. I purchased 1000 from these guys about 6 months ago and I still have plenty left.

This next step is very important!

You should use a different IP each time you sign up for a new account.

You can stretch it out to 3 accounts per IP max, if you use the same IP to sign up a large amount of Tumblr blogs they will soon start banning them.

I’ve made this mistake before, I got lazy made 10+ accounts then when I checked them a month later they were all gone.

You can use a program called IP Vanish for VPN access, so you can change IP with the click of a button (read my full IPVanish review).

Once you have a VPN setup, open up Tumblr and have your URLs ready in the page authority checker. All you need to do now is take the username and try to sign up with it.

Keep doing this until you find the free accounts.

Step Three: Dropping The Web 2.0 Backlinks

This is by far the easiest part, this is why expired web 2.0 network builders like to use Tumblr to drop links to their money sites.

You don’t need fancy articles, all you need is a picture and a few lines of text. Tumblr is an image platform so it makes sense just to roll with it.

expired tumblr blog

Easy right?

Just like that, web 2.0 backlinks are created in seconds, sure it takes a while to scrape them but it’s worth it!

If you want to buy them then that’s fine they work just as well, you will usually need more of them to get more juice that’s all.

The only other thing I do is upload an avatar and I might change the themes on some of them every now and then.

When it comes to the Weebly or Over-blog.com blogs you will need to upload an article, this is why I don’t do as many when starting out. I want to see what the Tumblr’s will do first.

Step Four: Keyword Ratios

Branding plays a decent part in ranking now so getting the right ratios can make or break your rankings. I’ve had rankings drop off the radar within 24 hours just because I used my exact match keyword 1 too many times.

I use the expired web 2.0 networks for branding and keyword variations. I save the big pushes with exact match keywords for my private blog network with strong domains if I need to.

What I typically do is sort my expired web2.0s from weakest to strongest. I’ll use the weak ones for naked URLs and branding anchor text, with the stronger ones I’ll use keyword variations.

I head over to LSI Graph to get some variations to use.

To finish it off for good measure I’ll add a few exact match anchor text on my strongest web 2.0s just in case Google wants to give it that extra push for me.

And that’s how you create an epic web 2.0 network… It’s not over yet though, there are some issues to address.

What Have Tumblr And Weebly Changed Recently?

Nothing really…

Tumblr And Weebly have changed a few things over the last few months or so but it hasn’t had any negative effects.

In reality, it becomes a blessing in disguise making it easier to find better blogs

Let’s start with Weebly and the “we won’t index you saga”.

weebly index

As you could imagine this became a problem, Weebly is telling us our free account won’t index the blog.

This is really just a good business move on their part forcing free users onto a paid account, well……

We can force things as well!
All we need to do is run a force index with the Google Url Submitter, this ignores the robots.txt and crawls the site anyway.

add url

Tumblr’s Sneaky Little Redirects

This recently just happened over a month ago and now a lot of network builders have come to the conclusion that Tumblr is useless for link building.

Instead of just linking out to your money site link, Tumblr has a new redirect in place like this href=”http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z” + your URL.

I just had to test this for myself to see if the juice still flowed, after all, Tumblr plays a big part in this strategy.

Two weeks ago I ran a test with 42 expired Tumblr blogs and these are the results…

This was a fresh page so these jumps are very good especially the bottom one.

Then a week later the rankings have increased even more. You might notice these from the start of this article, the bottom keyword is sitting at 16 with a keyword competition of 41… not bad at all.

new ranks

So, Tumblr still passes juice and Weebly will still index. Everything is all good!

Why Do These Work So Well?

This really comes down to age and the backlinks they have.

You build private blog networks with expired domains because they’re aged with backlinks, It’s the same concept.

In most SEO campaigns you will find web 2.0s being used and for good reasons. They work for all types of scenarios like diversity or pushing ranks.

The difference when using new ones is they’re fresh and take time to power up with the other tiered links you need to build to them.

Using expired web 2.0s to get me stable on the second page for my keywords then pushing them the rest of the way with my own personal private blog network works really well.

web 2.0 backlink strategy

Remember, Google wants to see that Authority.

2017 Progress Update

Well, it’s been some time since this was posted and my ranking is still going strong so it’s time for an update!

Now the question everyone wants to know…  Does this still work in 2017?

Yeap sure does!

I want to show you the results from two sites I’ve been working on since this post and explain to you how I got the sites to the first page of Google.

There are only two things ranking these sites, good long informative content and the super-strong expired web 2.0s we talked about above.

Website Number 1

This site is one of my favourites right now and has the potential to earn 5 figures a month.

The website ranking first in this niche just sold recently and was making just over $10,000 a month.

My site is literally 2-4 spots behind it on some of the terms.

This site is a Clickbank lead generation website, I collect emails with the site then I have an email marketing campaign set up to promote a specific niche related product.

The content length on this particular page is 3700 words, my on-page optimization is spot on so all I needed to do was add links.

website 1 rankings

As you can see from the results above all my target keywords are on the front page and that’s exactly where I want them.

I’m not worried about the 1st position right now, the site makes money at this point so I can rest for a while before hitting it again with more links.

You will see the ranks have dropped a bit, this is normal with this method. Google will push the site up high then let it settle into its position, this indicated to me that I’m ready for another round of links soon.

It’s already collected me over 600 leads so thats a great effort!
Right now I get 2-3 sales a day and on a good day with a nice spike I’ll hit 5+ and I’m not even at the top yet.

So how did I get this to where it is now?

The combination of good content and expired web 2.0s sent this site to the front page like a rocket going to space.

The content was good enough to get me dancing on the 4th page then using the expired web 2.0s I got it pushed up.

Oh…. and the competition in this niche is quite hard with some decent authority editorials to compete with.

On this particular site, I used Tumblrs and a mix of beep.com blogs as well. I had to pull out the big guns for this site though, I used only the best expired Tumblrs I could find.

Most of the Tumblrs I used had good backlinks from editorial sites like Huffington Post.

With this site there was a specific anchor text ratio I used, most of the anchors are URL and branded only.

I did this because every other site in the top 10 had branded anchors so it makes sense to replicate that. Exact match anchors were used but only once or twice each.

Since most of the sites in the top 10 are editorial all the links are natural so I have to make my anchors looks natural.

There are 2 other affiliate sites I’m competing with but they both have natural looking anchors as well.

At this point, I’m going to work on this site hard once it’s settled a bit longer to get it to the top. I’ll have a break and work on other projects until then.

Website Number 2

This site has lower competition than the first one and won’t make anything close to the income it will be producing.

This site could be about $1300-1600 a month once ranked higher. At the end of the day, money is money and I’m happy with that.

This site is once again a lead generation site for a Clickbank offer but I only just started collecting leads on this one before Christmas.

This one is a little different I actually get most of the sales from the links within the content and not so much within the email campaign.

This just shows me that testing with affiliate websites is important to see what works.
On this website, I also used less content, just over 2300 words. The competition wasn’t very hard and the topic was hard to write about so I stopped at 2300 to see how It went.

Safe to say that it worked out fine with that amount of content. Here are the current rankings.

website 2 rankings

The best part about this site is I could use my “rubbish expired web 2.0s”

What do I mean?

Well, when I do a scrape I set my expired web 2.0s out into sections. Those 2 sections are.

  • Good quality powerful web 2.0s
  • Scraps/rubbish web 2.0s

So, I use the Good web 2.0s on my hard niche websites then I save up all the average or low quality ones for an easier site like this one.

The only difference really is the amount I use.

Although I’m using so-called rubbish links as I like to call them they still work, I just need a lot more of them.

Remember when we scrape? We usually scrape a lot so it’s always a good idea to save those average ones for a rainy day.

Some people will think that’s a waste of time but I’ve seen the proof in my testing.

We even had a member in our Online Marketing Facebook Group post his rankings today using just Tumblrs.

He held the 1st position for most of his search terms.

I have no idea what kind of competition his niche is but that’s still impressive with just a bunch of expired Tumblrs!

So, is this still a viable way to rank websites?  Absolutely.

If we come into a super-duper hard niche we use the web 2.0s to get us to the 3rd or 2nd page then usually hit them with stronger links like guest posting (check out my list of the best guest posting services available) or private blog network links.

In most cases, you can sneak onto the first page with these expired web 2.0 links.

This web 2.0s method is still a great way to rank those easy to medium and even better on those hard niches to get them ready for even stronger links.

Wrapping It Up

If you want a quick and easy way to grab some good web 2.0 backlinks then buying Tumblr’s and throwing up those links is a fast way to do it.

You can build massive private blog networks with web 2.0 sites ready for links to existing or new websites you might create.

It’s up to you if you want to use these web 2.0s for one site or multiple sites. I link out to 2-4 websites max so I don’t have too many outbound links spreading the juice around.

When scraping the subdomains this video from Dillon who has helped me a lot in the past with this will explain the scraping if you have trouble or you prefer videos.

You don’t need to limit yourself to the web 2.0 sites mentioned above, that’s just what I prefer to use. There are many footprints you can input into the scraper to build your own private blog network.

Feel free to leave any questions in the comments below and I’ll see you at the top of Google!

You should take a look at ShareDNS.io as well.

ShareDNS.io is a free DNS provider that allows members to share subdomains with other members. The way it works is simple. For each domain you point to their system, you can create 100 subdomains on the domain names of their other members.

I am learning the web.2 link building. Should I use the keyword in the domain name?

  63. Brandon Boyd

Hi, if I used 6 tumblrs for example are they treated like 6 referred domains? I know that Weeblys and Blogspots show up that way in Majestic and Ahrefs.

Also, would you recommend using somethins like hidemyass when logging into the Tumblrs?

  64. Rodolfo Barros

    Program or software create pbn

I have this doubt. I have expired web 2.0 PA and DA high domains, is there any program or software that can do the following or something like:
1st I log in with the web 2.0 username and password of each platform, type blogspot, wordpress etc.

2nd Power to create content that can be spinneado of other original text.

3rd To be able to insert the url / link of the ancôra text in the key words that I choose.

4º Have some integration with some vpn that changes ip as ip vanish or something similar, so that google does not make some kind of blockage.

Does anyone know about any program or software that does this or something similar on the same interface?

  65. Tori

Hi I bought some expired Tumblr on Fiverr once. I thought they would have content, but they were all blank. I don’t have a way of knowing how old they are and never used them. Should expired ones be blogs that have content?

    • Matthew Woodward
      July 12th, 2017 at 1:38 pm

    Hello Matthew,

Great post as always, just got one question when you say “You should use a different IP each time you sign up a new account” that is only for sign up, correct? After that I can login using same IP or I have to follow that advice there too?

  75. Peter

    Thanks for the post Matthew,

I have scraped successfully for blogspot, weebly and tumblr web2’s. reading through this post and subsequent thread has given me some actionable tips to test out on a few new websites.

  77. Vik

Great post! Just wondering, how many posts should you put on each expired Tumblr Blog? Do I need to keep adding content, or is just one article with a link sufficient? Thanks!

  78. Fati

Great post, i am wondering how many links of my money website should i put in every Tumblr blog?

  79. Russ Clow

What an awesome article thank you! I’ve started a trial run with Domain Hunter Gatherer to see how I get on. Testing it with a completely fresh ecommerce website to see if I can rank for some easy keywords.

However, I’m struggling to find high PA Web 2.0 domains, I’ve run maybe 3-4 searches using DHG (each taking 3+ hours), looking just for tumblr’s for now, and out of the thousands of domains it’s looked through, I’ve only found 2 decent web 2.0 domains with any sort of PA. I’m just grabbing random keywords from the top100 keywords files you linked in the article.

Am I doing something wrong or are they just really hard to find? Are there any particular searches or keywords that tend to drum up better 2.0’s, or is it just pot luck?

P.S. I also tried a go at finding expired domains with some traffic, and can’t find anything with traffic from 2-3 search runs as well – I’m guessing they’re gold dust to find? :s

    • Russ Clow
      April 12th, 2017 at 1:51 pm

So turns out that the tool I was using (checkermoz.com) was broken! For every 50 available domains DHG finds, 3-4 are decent enough PA. I’ve managed to get around 15 or so tumblr sites, with page authority of 28-30 (can’t find any higher!) – but they all have only 2-5 backlinks. Is the backlinks or the page authority going to be giving the juice?

Do you see any harm in using temporary ‘throw away’ emails for tumblr signups rather than purchased Russian ones?

  80. alex

Hi Matt i found 30blogs tumblr with>30PA and when i check there backlinks with ahrefs or majetic i found they dont have backlinks sometimes they have 3backlink sometimes more my questions is :
1- is it good blogs for build pbn
2-when i build pbn with tumlr the blog must be the same (niches) or général niches.
    Sorry for my bad language

  81. Midas

    Hi Matthew,

    Thanks for this article!

Got myself DHG + 10 proxies and scanning right now.

It is running for an hour now and DHG didt find any unused web 2.0

  85. Kevin

I have another question: how often do you have to go back and log into the Web 2.0 properties to keep them from expiring again?

  86. James Robert

    Hi Matthew,

Thanks for this great article. I have started working on gathering some expired tumbler blogs for a website of mine using above steps as described by you.

By the way, it would be appreciated if you can please give your point of view or show us the drop or increase in the above mentioned rankings after the un-official ‘Google Fred Update’ as it suspected hit a lot of web 2.0s too.

  87. Justin Levitt

    Hi There

Thank you so much for this guide. I’m excited to get started using Web 2.0’s.

I have one noob question. You mention that we should use different IP’s for each Web 2.0 account. I’m a little unclear as to how one goes about using different IP’s for each account.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks so much,

  88. SME Frog

  91. Mark

    You do some great stuff.

How do you manage your Web 2.0s once you have registered them and put up your content with links?

I use AFM (AutoFill Magic) to handle all the new sites I create but I haven’t figured out how to use it to control all the expired blogs I am scraping and registering.

I don’t know how to manage the aged web 2.0s.

  92. SUMON

  93. Tony

    Hi Matthew,

I don’t understand this part yet (actually, I didn’t meet any cases like that).

“All we need to do is run a force index with the Google Url Submitter, this ignores the robots.txt and crawls the site anyway.”

I thought if robots has blocked an URL or entire site from indexing in Google, it won’t be indexed even we force it to index.

    • Tony
      March 24th, 2017 at 10:15 am

So what do you think about this question?

  94. Adam

Really enjoyed this article. I recently picked up Domain Hunter Gatherer because I wanted to experiment with Web 2.0’s mixed with a minimum amount of PBN’s for a couple of clickbank products.
I’ll say one thing about Domain Hunter Gatherer – Mixing it along with Longtail Pro gives you some spectacular results. It is a shame about the Tumblr availability problem though. Nevertheless, a great piece is software.

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 7th, 2017 at 12:07 pm

Glad you are enjoying it Adam, it’s definetly one of the best domain tools out there!

  95. Atinder

    Hey Matthew,

Expired Web 2.0 certainly holds some link juice, but you forget to tell that Whether we can even use some web 2.0’s as our money sites if in case it has good links from authority sites as well as the anchor ratio is good.

As I got one sports related blogspot, which I want to use for long term, Can I use it?

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 7th, 2017 at 12:13 pm

Yes you could do that but I would never do it myself

  96. John Deere

Thanks for sharing this important tip, Matt. It’s, indeed, an effective strategy. Though tedious. I should give it a trial since it works.

How many time tumblr will take to index.?
I already submitted tumblr in “goole add url” but still waiting for indexing. Any fast way for indexing?

  99. Adrian Trejo de la rosa

Is it better for a pbn? One of subdomains or one of domains .com .org .net .info?

  100. mark

Web 2.0 are always great. They work every time!
I tried other methods but I noticed that this is one of the sure ways of ranking in low competition keywords. Thanks for reminding us that we own the mines :)

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 27th, 2017 at 10:18 am

      Hahaha no problem Mark!

  101. Joaquin Rios

To built a PBN is essential to have results in SEO, or paid for links. This year they say that google is going to go for the PBN, s and that to penalize them very hard, what do you think?

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 27th, 2017 at 10:18 am

They’ve been saying that for 15 years

      • Joaquin Rios
        February 27th, 2017 at 10:31 am

        Ok, thanks

  102. Andy

Should you keep each tumblr dedicated to one site or page, or does it matter if you drop links to different (and unrelated) sites from the same tumblr?

  103. Razziq

Very informative. Sir, I have a question. I have already found 20+ expired tumbler with 25+ PA. But the problems is most of the tumbler have less than 5 links. Tell can I use these tumblers for my site. ??

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 25th, 2017 at 7:08 am

Yes as long as they have good PA metrics

  104. Ali Khan

I think Quora is one of the best ways to get traffic these days. I agree Reddit and Facebook are my biggest traffic sources but the traffic from Quora is targetted and people who read Quora are more likely to take action than the people from Facebook.

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 25th, 2017 at 7:09 am

Are you getting much traffic from Quora yourself?

  105. Mike S

Wow! This is a little bit complicated and overwhelming but this could be done. If this could boost your search engine rankings then this is worth doing. Thanks a lot for the info.

Supa growth has a couple. Expired tumblr hunter and expired web 2.0 ranker :-)

  107. Janet

I found some expired tumblr ; but most of them are penalized by Google. Will I be able to continously use these expired tumblr and put my backlink on them?

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 25th, 2017 at 7:12 am

How have you concluded they are penalised by Google?

      • Janet
        February 25th, 2017 at 7:20 am

        I use both methods:
        – go to google, then search for term : site:expired tubmlr

        • Matthew Woodward
          February 25th, 2017 at 7:42 am

Neither of those methods would clarify penalisation

          • Janet
            February 25th, 2017 at 7:47 am

I really appreciate your help. So, will this mean I do not need to worry about penalized tumblr, and can use any scraped expired tumblr to build backlink to my main site?
Thank you so much for clarifying a lot

          • Matthew Woodward
            February 25th, 2017 at 8:14 am

Yes as long as they have good metrics

  108. Just some random dude

Think I know what website #1 is that you’re talking about Franklin ;)

  109. Paul Brown

I’ve just bought 50 Tumblrs which are all empty. Do I need to put a load of content into these to begin with before I can drop my own links? If so I can see this being very time consuming.

        Thanks for this Matthew.

  114. Hasnain

Hello, I tried the same technique but the problem is that most of the URLs which scrapebox provide me are alive which means I am able to visit them. And the ratio has been 100# until now, which means I am not getting any web 2.0s from scrapebox… Please let me know what should I do, I have added 404 to the setup box. I have checked both alive and not-alive urls, but both are alive :O.

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 25th, 2017 at 7:44 am

I use DHG myself rather than Scrapebox sorry =/

  115. Dennis

    Matthew, Great article.
    I have a couple questions.

    Question #1
Have 32 PA28-33 tumblr’s ready for linking to my money site. Is it better to have all 32 pointed directly to my site or setup tier 2 & tier 3?

1 tumblr pointed to money site, then 10 pointed that tumblr and then 2 pointed to each of those tumblr’s. Would that help increase the PA for the tumblr pointed directly to my money site?

    Question #2
I have some guest posts that are on high DA but are low PA as there are no links to them and are no longer on the root page anymore. What are your thoughts on using some web 2.0 to add juice (tumblr, weebly, wordpress)?

I would mix up both strategies rather than choosing one or the other

Really amazing guide I picke dup about 300 tumblrs!!! I have tried other eb 20’s without that much success are what would you say are the top web 2.0 to scrape that get as many as tumblr!!!
Also i wanted to let you know i have just started to use a tool called BrowSEO to control all my tumblrs and its the best tool i have used for this (snce I hate spreadsheets)
How do you stay on top of all your important tumblrs and other wb20’s?

  117. Greg

    Hello Mathew,Franklin

Actually i did exactly what you teached us in this tutoriel and that’s what i get in details :

-1) i get over 100 tumblr blog with PA +35 (this took me 1 month)
-2) i chosed the best one and i filled it with an article of 1000 words with 3 images (Booom page 1 position 2) it’s like magic for me,till now i did not believed it hehehe ,it makes me an extra 500$ a month using CPA.
-3)i linked 15-20 tumblrs to each of my sites and all my sites are now page 1 page 2,maximum page 3 which great because i get some organic traffic…

This method works will i have to practice it more to benefit from it as much as i can ,thanks a lot both of you guys.

By the way i ranked another tumblr to the top1 on google but with a different way.

    Sorry for my bad english.

    Thanks Again,

  118. Harvey McCallum

I am looking for someone to setup a IFTTT syndication for my youtube and wp site that doesn’t just go through the motions. I have dealt with Fiverr and KonKer. How important is it to use Tumblr accounts that are in the same niche as I am?

Do you think local business citations are valuable for ranking higher?

I like your approach. Can you point me to a few good IFTTT people?

Hello Matthew, Im this method ..but just started up, I will see how it goes..I’m pretty confident it does.I have an article of about 800-1000words, I don’t have any links yet, and I’m already on page 3 for two keywords ..one has 15k searches and the other 1.5k + other low volume variations in top50. I’m starting scraping more seriously , I got a VPS from Amazon, and I’m running my first scrapebox campaign for tumblrs.
I have a couple of questions if you are kind to answer

1.Do you dilute your link profile with other web2.0’s?Which ones?
2.The tumblrs that you point to your money site..are they related to your niche? Or not at all?
    3. I’m thinking of building some other web 2’0 like WordPress/blogger, are they still worth it? Powering them with GSA?

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Franklin, i use to order gigs with high PA 30+ expired tumblr domains that i use them to rank videos and web20…the problem is that these expired web20 properties have A BIG slow to get indexed…..

    Questions :

1.Had you ever the same problem?
2.Post Link achrors before get indexed or you first indexed them ?
3.Any way to get indexed fast

    thank you

  127. Disgusted

Just so I can get this right …
    the steps are;
    1) find a bunch of pre-existing sites with backlinks
    2) re-initialise/use those domains/accounts
    3) create a bunch of links from these site

    checks date ….
    rubs eyes …
no, it really does say 2017, not 2007,

Yes people – it may work … but it’s spamming.
Scraped content is hardly likely to be original aor useful to visitors – so it’s done solely for SEs.
The links are also there solely for SEs.
I know, you want to rank, I know, it’s business, I know, Google sucks …
… but I hope you know how to survive without SE traffic … because if you get too popular and get caught, you’re screwed.

    Hello Matthew,
this guide is awesome! I’ve been purchasing a tool called DomainHunterGatherer to get 2.0 properties but this used to be very unreliable. With your method using just scrapebox I’m having much better results!

Today I noticed a strange thing. I registered a tumblr domain which had some nice metrics and I was able to get the name and I have it on my tumblr dashboard. However when I visit the tumblr URL, the “original” blog is still present with it’s content. My content is completely ignored.

Did you ever see that happen? How could this be fixed?

    Awesome piece Franklin,

I have only been digging in to this a couple weeks now, so loads of gold here to implement.

Just an add, after running the url’s through Alive checker I run the remaining through Vanity Name Checker (SB Addon) this highlights Available/Cometed/Taken and save the head ache of check one by one.

I do not see the Page Rank function on my version (figured it’s been removed with one of the updates/I’m missing something) so to get all the metrics I run my filtered list through DHG Analysis. From here on I’m in the winners circle as I’m only working with the url’s that are 1) Available and 2) have metrics I’m wanting

Look forward to discovering more articles like these

    Hi Matt,

I am using many expired web2.0 domains weebly, tumblr etc., all have PA 30 above for the last 2 months. Suddenly majority of them lost their PA and became 1. Not sure why this happens. I have a huge rankings drop recently because of this.

If so, what’s the use of Expired web2.0 if it can’t serve the purpose for a long term.

    Please reply.

I generally use Blogs 2.0 in my seo strategy, but i use them to link to my level 1 websites rather than my Money site wich is more safe in case of penalty..

  144. Damien

Funnily enough I have been thinking of scraping web 2.0’s for a while. So I started today in 1 niche. I worked it down to 500 all had really poop ratings except 1. Funny thing is it looked familiar. Like really familiar….. it was actually one I created a while back…. doh.

I suppose this is ok if you scrape 1000’s as you mentioned a lot just won’t re register or they are false positives when scraped through scrapebox. I normally just build my own web 2.0’s but if your in a rush and can’t be bothered with that then scraping is your best bet.

Thanks for the scrapebox method it was collecting dust I hardly use it these days.

  146. Alastair Dunstan

Epic article. One query though – does the content or links pointing to the Tumblrs matter? Many links to the expired Tumblrs in particular are Chinese or ‘porn’ sounding – should these be avoided or is power all that matters with 2.0s?

  147. Mike

I can attest to the strategy of using expired tumblr blogs.
    This is an actual goldmine!

I’m using web2.0 for my clients as well. If the niche isn’t too competition – sometimes that’s all it needs.

I have a quick question about signing up for the tumblr accounts after they have been scraped and verified to be authority .

Thanks in advance for your time

  150. Tyler

Hi! Thanks for your article! I read it a few weeks ago and decided to take action so I bought tumblr account from fiverr. I tried posting links to my moneysite on 5 expired tumblr accounts.

It’s been 2 weeks and the links don’t show on my Google Index report and the rank of the keyword I was trying to rank for did not increase. What am I doing wrong? Do you have any idea? I checked and all the tumblr blogs I used are indexed.

      Hey Tyler,

A little update & this has seriously been working for me.
Google love social signals, When my articles are created, I let it rest for 48 hours wait in it’ll get indexed or not.

After waiting for 24-48 hours to check index status. If not on google yet,

I will manually submit on google add your url page then will through in social signals…. Addmefast could come handy but in my own case, I scraped expired twitter accounts with juicy metrics.

They tweet out my link ! You want to be smart with anchor diversity.
Throw up authority twitter shares… Throw up G+ shares…. Wait for a 1 week at maximum,

You should have you Url indexed :)

    Hi, Matthew.

I have some expired blogspots. I signed those up on 2014 without vpn. Didn’t post any articles. Just template with my Google+ profile on it.

    It was fine until today:
    1. blogspot.com redirect to blogspot.co.id
    2. DA= 90 PA=27 become 1 for each.

    1. What’s going on here? Hahaha.
    2. I want to use some as my ‘money site’ after checked the backlink quality. Is it okay?

      Hi Mycorps !

That was a new update from blogspots sites. The links are redirected to your country’s google extention i.e google.co.id

If you use a US VPN you will still have it in .com

But I believe that shouldn’t affect the site metrics

    Hey Matthew,

Love the post and I am trying it myself just got couple of questions if you dont mind:

    1) If I have a tumblr link with 30+ PA how much CF / TF needs to have? does it really matters? isn’t PA enough since juice passes from age?

    2) When you add links on tumblr blog do you add link on blogs description or in any post? and how many other links you use on posts?

    3) What is the best way to index this url is they are not index?

    1. For every 1 tumblr max 2-4 link to moneysite. is ok to linked 4 article in the same moneysite. Or should use it for diferent moneysite?
    2. Should i built tier2 for those expired web 2.0?
    3. I make 2 link( in homepage and article in the same moneysite) in my tmblr post is good or bad? or should i separate them in each post

    thanks for answer

  157. Bhati

i tried to rank one of my page who already ranked ranked on 4th to 5th page for few main keyword ( Low Competition). I tried with 10 expired tumblr with 35 to 42 PA. All tumblr have 200 words article with images and videos. Since i need fast ranking tha’ts why i submit to 3 GWT accounts for indexing after one day of putting article on tumblr Blog. After indexing the links the page ranking losses and now ( after 8 days) the page ranked on 6- 10th page. I used main keyword and keyword variation to linking the money site. can you confirm that am i doing any mistakes.
According to me the reason behind for ranking drop.
    1. main Keyword and variation used to linking.
    2. 3 tumble used for Indexing in GWT.
    3. Index after one day of putting article on tumble.
    have you any suggestion.

Thank you very much for such informative post! I have one question. You said that such links still works fine with redirect, that`s good, but I see that I can put a link in source field, then the link become as usual link, am I right? I understand that I can`t put anchor, but I think “Source: example.com” is also good for deversity. What do you think?

Hey Matthew great article bud as you are claiming that PA 30+ are good but when we search those domains CF/TF they are not that good even some of them are CF: 30+ but TF: 1 seems spammy to me!

Hello, Greate Article and Thanks for Sharing this Awsome Tutorial! But i have a question, after scrape this tumblr with high PA, didnt we should check if they aren’t Spammy Links, because some of them maybe had been spam in the past, and so, will they not warm your main website? If so could you recommend some ways to identifie this bad links? Thanks and Keep the Good job

  169. Kevin

This is one of the most helpful link-building articles I’ve ever read–thanks!!

Just to clarify, you create the link in Tumblr (one or two at the most), then just change the theme or something every once in a while to keep the account/page from expiring. Correct?

  170. John Wick

I have a little confusion, I have heard that while making backlinks, If you take 1 backlink or 100 from a single blog like hugpages, wordpress, it will only give you the benefit of 1 backlink because the IP of all the accounts of that platform is same. Why does it not happen with tumblr?

Also, do we have to give social signals to the backlinks that we make from tumblr?

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 4th, 2016 at 9:39 am

Yes I tend to only focus on getting 1 backlink per domain

No you don’t have to give social signals, but it can’t hurt.

  171. randy james

Super cool Matt!! I jut purchased scrapebox, and the proxys, got myself some really good web 2.0s right now. Prettyc ool I never did any backlink before this just I found a site keyword shitter is cool to get a list for SB. I tried adwords, still not that good. generic lists got me a lot of high pa tumblrs but I checked the backlinks and alot are porn related. So I think its a matter of checking each one before registering it. or at least thats what Im doing. Thought of a neat fiverr gig sell a few of these for five bucks, would be cool . Thanks for taking the time to make this post. I have found the add on vanity name checker works pretty good to within SB

    Hi Franklin,

    Hello both Matt & Franklin,

Thanks for posting the article first of all!

I have a quick question in regards to this: It’s up to you if you want to use these web 2.0s for one site or multiple sites. I link out to 2-4 websites max so I don’t have too many outbound links spreading the juice around.

Lets say I have a category of web 2.0s. The category contains 10 web 2.0s consisting of tumblr, weebly & wordpress. The PA is 30+.

Lets take one of my tumblr blogs for instance with 350 unique articles on. Around 150 of these posts (so not all of them) link out to completely separate sites. Does this mean the link juice will not be as strong as opposed to only 1 of the 350 blogs linked to just 1 site.

The other 9 web 2.0s also have a similar amount of unique content on them (not spun). Some of which link to the same websites as the previous one.

Are you saying the more your link OUT from your web 2.0 the less it becomes an authority link and juice is less?

Thanks, I hope this makes sense!

  178. Alan

    Hey Matthew,

I have a quick question, for emails that you sign up with on tumblr & weebly, I see that you purchased a bulk load of mail.ru. My only question is would having to verify accounts be an issue since we won’t be able to go into the email accounts?

I’ve read from somewhere that you need to verify new accounts or the links won’t take into effect.

And also if you do verify the accounts, how do you access emails you’ve bought from bulk? I only ask because I signed up a few on yahoo accounts I bought but I’m not able to access my yahoo account for some reason (Probably a noob move i’m not doing)

  179. Daniel

I just bought 20 registered tumblrs, all pa 30 plus but little trust flow and they’ve been registered on only 2 emails(10per email)… My question is do we need to use a proxy for Every post, or just when we register? Obviously posting these manually thru a proxy is quite a tedious task so my follow up question is can we load these accounts into only wire and post that way… Or perhaps only wire thru a proxy?? We gonna get accounts banned doing that??

God I’m such a slow mover – I started my first PBN in 2011 and now I’m ready to start using web 2.0’s… I should have done that years ago!

Anyway great article! And you got a commision from sourcemarket from me ;)

Thanks Austin :) Although real PBNs > Web 2.0s anyday :)

  183. Paulo

I have a blog with five article, I will test rank 3 articles in the same pbn. I do several pbn’s 3 keywords each.

  184. techology guide

great blog franklin, I have also heard about web 2.0 blogs, but what exactly means web 2.0 , please tell me.

  185. Antonio

Ok, I scraped around 3million tumblr sites and plenty of them are 404s. But when I go ahead to check PA I get eithher ‘undefined’ or 94.5PA for all of them. This is sort of a new tumblr trick or what?

  186. David

    Hi Matthew
    i have a few questions:
“You can stretch it out to 3 accounts per IP max, if you use the same IP to sign up a large amount of Tumblr blogs they will soon start banning them.”

If I sign up a expired Tumblr from Paris IP, then a few days i sign in with US IP, this can lead to banned account?

I ask this thing because I worry if i buy Expired Tumblr accounts (or other expired web2 account) from source-wave, then I logged in at a different country IP, my account will be banned soon.

hope you will give me a clear answer!

  187. David

    Hi Mathhew,
i did not see Mywebsearch in Scrapebox 2. Do you know why?
or i have to re-download the latest Sbox?

  188. Jason

    Great article!

When I use the 99webtool site to check backlinks for tumblrs it always says there is 2942914 backlinks.

Do you know why this is?

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 13th, 2016 at 9:57 am

Because it is checking the root domain and not the sub domain

  189. Waqar Mughal

    Hi Dear,

I can’t find metrics, since january moz showing me tumblr’s metrics, please show me any other site in which i can see metrics or give me a trick

  190. Muhammad Ali Silat

I followed this article and scrapped near about 1500 expired tumblr blogs.
But, when I tried to check it PA and DA it showing me same PA, DA and backlinks for all. I check at 99webtool and Moz. How could I find the actual PA and DA of that expired domain.

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 10th, 2016 at 12:35 pm

Seems like you are scraping the data for the domain rather than the subdomain

      • Muhammad Ali Silat
        June 10th, 2016 at 2:44 pm

No, I scraped data for subdomain, I did the same setups as shown in the above article. I read the article 6 times.
Actually, Moz showing the statistics of Tumblr instead of its sub domain.

  191. FernandoDLn

    Hi man!

I have this question. Is it bad for SEO if all backlinks to my moneysite come from tumblr’s? I red that you got good results with 41 tumblrs. But is it good to have only tumblr backlinks?

  192. Andy

Most sellers on Fiverr, Source Market etc. are selling tumblr accounts with high PA but with TF 0. Are these accounts worthless?

    • Franklin
      June 6th, 2016 at 3:22 am

Not really worthless it all depends on what backlinks it has :)

  193. Muneeb Dogar

Such a wonderful post. I was having a bad time when it came to expire web 2.0 . But, But! After reading out this article, I am pretty sure that I can now rank on SERP.

Thanks a lot Matthew <3 You are the Real Hero.

  196. Atif Qazi

Awesome guide. You know I am actually doing this for one of my sites right now. I have a few questions: how many tumblr blogs can you register per 1 email address?

I am currently BUYING high PA tumblr accounts. I have seen two kinds of services. One that gives you the username and password of the entire account, the other in which you have sign up the url with your own email address. So yeah, I already have about 10 accounts on one email address.

Also, should CF or TF matter. I have a few accounts with amazing CF and TF and their ratio, others have 0. Albeit they all have 30+ PA.

    • Atif Qazi
      May 24th, 2016 at 5:49 pm

Just want to add something else.

I have heard the most powerful link from a tumblr blog comes from the blog description because it does not have a redirect? Is that true?

Also would you rather prefer a tumblr blog that has a high PA over a blog that has 0 PA but 100s of RD and Backlinks?

Sorry for asking so many questions XD.

  197. Rich

Great Article Frankling and Thanks for Sharing Matthew!

  198. Takagi Eichiro

    Hi Matt…
I tried to “force” google to crawl the website…
Yes, it is indexed in google, but it’s written in the description
“A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt”

    It’s still ok??

*Sorry if my English so bad…

      June 6th, 2016 at 3:23 am

Check your webmaster account and if it shows up as a backlink you are find. They always show up as backlinks for me.

  199. Qasim

Please describe that how can we find best tumblr subdomains with majestic, like Trust Flow & Citation Flow as in PA we need 30+, Thank You.

Did you even read the article?

  200. Simon

I get the same as John. All tumblr subdomains showing as PA94. The subdomains are in this format (xyz.tumblr.com), as shown in the example. Any idea why this is happening? And how to check the PA of the sub-domain?

Thank God, I was worried that maybe Tumblr had found out about our techniques and was blocking the Moz crawler on the subdomains

  201. Bo F

    Hey Matthew.
    Great article here.
So do you seriously just post a picture and then a few lines? Is that enough? How would it work if I posted a unique article on my branded Tumblr, and then reblogged it out on the expired tumblr’s I have registered?

I have 50-60 Tumblr accounts (PA 31-38… some with TF 2, 4 or 5) that I have been setting up, changed apperance, reblogged etc. to make them look alive.

I have reblogged somewhere between 10-23 things on my Tumblr’s – is that a good or bad thing. Should I just leave them be “empty” and start adding links to my site?

I want to use them to rank low keyword difficulty blog posts.
How many Tumblr’s should I use to start ranking a keyword with 30-40 in difficulty (from kwfinder.com or keywordrevealer.com).

Could I use my 50+ Tumblr’s to rank 20+ links on my domain before getting more?

    • Franklin
      May 24th, 2016 at 2:54 am

No offence but to many questions. You will get the replies you are looking for if you just go test. I wrote this article and all I did was start testing with tumblrs. I just did it and noted down what worked and what didn’t. Yes a picture is fine its a image sharing site and yes an article is fine. Juice is juice and tumblr will give it to you no matter how you place the link

  202. Honey

Hi, Matthew, Thanks for great article .

I would like to know , How to index these Tumblr blogs ?
How many links can i create per day on tumblr blogs ?

    • Franklin Hatchett
      May 7th, 2016 at 12:57 am

Just let them sit they will index, if they don;t then force them with the Google URL submitter. As for the other question just test and see what works for you. I do 5 max a day.

  205. Travis

    Hello Franklin and Matt,

    Thank you for the tutorial!

I have followed the tutorial and have used Scrapebox to find some expired Tumblr accounts, the problem I am having is with the emails to sign up the Tumblrs with.

I bought two different email types from buyaccs.com, but the first ones where Gmail.com USA PVA lasted about 5 days, then they where all band. I was using a VPN no more than 3 per IP and clearing cache and cookies every time. The second batch are Mail.ru I used PIA VPN and no more then 2 per IP and clearing cache and cookies and all I get is needing phone verification.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have a best practice to keep them alive longer than a few days after there guarantee is past?

    • Franklin Hatchett
      May 7th, 2016 at 12:56 am

I use mail.ru myself and yea I’ve come across this. when the phone verification comes up it should have a country code. Type it in Google then find out what county it is then change your I.P to that country and try again :)

  207. Sanu Dutta

So, the Tumblr blogs are still passing juice. I thought they are now worthless after seeing those redirects.
And withdrawn links from it, I think I need to empower them again. Thanks Mat!

Oh! my bad. Thanks Franklin :)

One more query for you…Doesn’t Google sees multiple Web 2.0 as a ONE site? Like if we create 2 different Tumblr blogs, and link out to money site. Google give priority to only one Tumblr blog (Skeptical).

        • Franklin
          April 30th, 2016 at 3:03 pm

They still pass juice I’ve tested it a few times now, As for the other question Tumblr is a site when other sites and post go viral everyday getting 1000s of reblogs. There is nothing suspicious about getting multiple links from Tumblr.

  208. Mohd Bilal

Will this work for a new site which has no backlinks at all and which one is better for a new site a redirect or link building on tumblr blog.

    • Matthew Woodward
      April 28th, 2016 at 9:08 am

Yes it’s a great way to leverage some early authority

  209. A.

How many expired 2.0’s do you usually build before you see results? And do you build them all at the same time, I built 2 expired tumblrs to a site currently ranked 14-16 for a month now, and it went up to 13 and then down to 14-15 right now.

    Best Regards,

    • Franklin
      April 30th, 2016 at 3:04 pm

You need more than 2. I do 20 before I see any real movement :).

      • A.
        May 4th, 2016 at 2:02 pm

Thanks for replying. Can I ask, over how long a period do you make those? And once you’ve made them, does it take another week or so before the results? Thanks.

    Hello Matthew,

It is really great article and worth to read it.I just want to ask you Is utilizing web 2.0 blogging to create and maintain backlinks for your money sites and niche revenue builders even worth it in the long run?

    Thank you

    • Franklin
      April 30th, 2016 at 3:07 pm

I currently have affiliate sites ranked making me over $100 a day each and they have been for months. It’s worth it ;) This type of backlinking really the only way to get affiliate sites ranked because whitehat is pretty much dead for scrappy affiliate sites.

  217. Fernando DLn

Hi Mat! I got this now.
1.- scrapebox to get the web 2.0
2.- check the PA (I’m going to use majestic and ahrefs to check TF and spammy links)
3.- register blogs with VPN – question: each tumblr with different email?
4.- post litle articles – question: more articles posted before?
5.- force index on google… but If we use the ADD URL option to force index… we need to use our google credentials. It doesn’t leave footprints?

    amazing post man!! amazing!!

    • Franklin
      April 30th, 2016 at 3:08 pm

The whole Google leaving footprints in force Url is a myth, well I think so anyways since I’ve tested it many times. You are on the right track. You don;t need to post any articles before.

  218. Victor Onokpasah

Nice one can you make a video tutorial on this method? I will appreciate it.

Take a look at your competitors that are currently ranking

  220. Hendrik

Great guide! If I set up a tumblr web 2.0, how many different deeplinks do you recommend putting at once on one tumblr? Let’s say I got 3 different articles on my moneysite I’d like to push in serps. Can I just put the 3 links on one tumblr or should I create a single one for every link?

    • Franklin
      April 9th, 2016 at 6:15 am

You can do multiple links per tumblr but just remember the more link you have on 1 tumblr the more the juice is diluted.

  221. Paul

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you for all this information. I love your site.

Maybe i just didnt see it but i couldnt find the information which programm you use to track the rankings? For example in the first screenshot of this post you can see it.

Just bought ScrapeBox and been scraping nonstop the past few days. I tried scraping Wordpress blogs, and after a few hours found you can’t reregister them haha.

For Tumblr, you might already know this, but you can bypass the redirect URL by using the post’s HTML editor instead to leave your link.

Doesn’t matter, sites get shared and reblogged by 1000s of tumbles everyday

  224. Kaya

    Thanks Matthew!

  225. Alex

Great job Alex, I hope that brings you some traffic!

  226. Ian Hamshaw

Do we manually index the backlinks created by the Tumblrs?

The Tumblrs help create the diversity this is why we do not use exact match keywords when creating the backlink.

Do we need to send these backlinks to a link indexer?

We can buy these diversity links on Fiverr, so the same question. We buy 50 web 2.0 backlinks. Do we send these backlinks to a link indexer?

Or have I just spent too long looking at the computer? lol

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:41 pm

This is really up to you there is no harm is indexing them or leaving them to index without help

  227. Bob

    Hello , Matt

I have 10 Tumblr all index But Backlink is still not showing up in ahrefs or any other tool is been about 2 month now is this normal?

Also how may post should I do on those expired Tumblr?

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:42 pm

Most tools won’t show the link as most of the tools are inaccurate anyways. Doesn’t matter how many post just keep them on the homepage

  228. greg platt

    Hi ,
Thank you so much for this amazing tutoriel.
I have some questions please :

1-are 20-30 tumblr blogs are enough or i must add other web 2.0?
2-can i send GSA to those tumblr sites ?

Thank you in advance ,i’am a little seo hhh

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:43 pm

you need more than just tumblr and there is no point in doing GSA to them because they should already have links. You can do what you like thought GSA can be used

  229. Manny Gaser

Another great resource for link building technique, best regards!

    • Matthew Woodward

  230. Ian

    Hi Matthew,

If I have 30 expired tumblrs would I need 10 VPNs or would the one Franklin mentioned above be enough ?.

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:44 pm

the one above works fine :)

  231. Mick

Great post, I will be following, I am just starting out with pbn’s, I have also just bought scrape box for my tumblr sites and FCS networker for posting to my Web 2.0

As you say tumbler is a image platform would it hurt to have the image link to your money site and also have a normal link to your money site?

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:45 pm

Can do what you like sometimes I do both. There is no specific blueprint here it’s all about testing

  232. Anil

How effective is this for Local site ranking?
    Example: Washington Roofers
Lets assume that, that local keyword is having an EMD available.

  233. Kathy

So far so good just had one tumblr acting strange as in accepts my content but just will not post it just sits there.

  234. George

I dropped links on five expired tumblrs there is no change on my kw,after 3 days when tumblrs got indexed.

    keyword – 28 low competition.

I know this will not booost my rankings in couple days but i’m just waiting for little change.

And last question : Do you search niche relevant tumblrs ?

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 11th, 2016 at 12:02 pm

You need a little more patience :)

    • Franklin
      March 16th, 2016 at 1:57 am

As discussed in the article I would start with 20+ Tumblrs. 5 isn’t really enough to do anything unless they are super powerful.

  235. Tomislav

    Hi Matthew,

I’ve got tumblr acc with PA 31; 84 root domains and 143 total links according to MOZ, but once i entered link in majestic explorer i v got these numbers:

EB: 8.957 ; REF DOM: 5.419; REF IP: 407; REF Subnets: 318. No idea if this could be spammy or good one. Also a question, does TF/CF counts anything here or we should overlook it? Thanks!

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 11th, 2016 at 12:05 pm

Well Majestic have a bigger/better database than Moz so I tend to trust Majestic over Moz

  236. Herschel

Thanks for a great article Franklin.
    Just a quick question.

Can I use this method to rank local keywords such as dallas plumber, phoenix pool resurfacing, atlanta cosmetic dentist, etc etc?

  237. John Shea

I just wanted to say that I discovered Franklin’s blog about a month ago and his posts reminded me of this blog in terms of value and advice. Cool to a guest post here!

I put a free method into action Franklin shared and I’m sitting on the 1st page for “product name review” with a few days left prior to a launch.

This looks fairly straight forward with the right tools, might give it a shot.

    • Matthew Woodward

Good job on taking action John :)

  238. Tui

    How to registry this Tumblrs?

    • Franklin

I would suggest reading the post again. You need to go through them until you find working ones.

  239. Snow Stephan

I really enjoyed while reading your article. I have one question.
My tumblrs are already indexed in Google, but not showing up on Ahrefs, GWT and Majestic as backlinks.

Ahrefs and Majestic have never been reliable on picking up links like this. As for webmasters, I found it doesn’t show them all. However they still improve my rankings. I don’t worry too much about that’s showing my backlinks. I get my backlinks indexed then move on to my next project etc.

Your article is really awesome and killer!

    I have 2 questions.

Can we use this method to build a powerful PBN? and
What is the Google’s view on this method of building backlinks?

Hi, nice post you got there.

    I have one question.

If i found 1 no-competition long tails keyword with the website that rank #1 on google has no description, title, heading and url related to that keyword.

Then, I use that keyword on my 1-month old website follow by backlink technique mention above.

How long does it take to see the results?

I build site specific PBN’s, eg 1 domain in my PBN only links to the money site once

yes, only link one time for the same money site. But my doubt is how many different sites to money I can put in 1 pbn? 2, 3, 4. Typically you set up how many?

The more you put, the higher your risk is because each site in your PBN will end up having a very similar external link profile

Great guide. I’ve been using this technique for years, always add many nice web2.0’s to all my networks on dropped domains. Gives a nice diversity – and always good results!

Hi Matthew. I have two questions. The first is that after I signed up for different ips after can I submit posts from the same ip? And you submit posts manually or with a software?

It’s best to always just login and post with different I.Ps, saves you getting banned. Do everything manually :)

  246. Alex

So I got an account at IPA and have started posting with a batch of tumblrs I had for some time but never used. So far so good just had one tumblr acting strange as in accepts my content but just will not post it just sits there. So on with the rest and see if we can get some results.

How do we know when the links are being counted?

    • Franklin
      March 10th, 2016 at 12:11 am

It’s not a matter of when it’s counted it’s a matter of is it strong enough to make a difference. Get them indexed then let the power do the rest :)

Great Guide. Been using this on all my rankings! PBN + this = Rank! Too bad blogspot always gets removed

Great post and deffo something I need to start doing.
Can I just ask about the Tumblr re-direct – Is there anything that I would need to do?
Instead of just linking out to your money site link, Tumblr has a new redirect in place like this href=”http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z” + your URL.

    Does Tumblr automatically do this?

sorry might be a dumb question.

This was talked about in the post and you can find a case study link there. The redirects haven’t had any effect so far.
