GSA Search Engine Ranker is a tool that’s come to be one of the most powerful in the link building world. Last year it went through several updates and transformations to make it easier and faster.

I will teach you to:

  • Setup GSA Search Engine Ranker properly
  • Create tiered linking structures
  • Build quality backlinks
  • Remove past links to prevent penalization

This tutorial is pretty detailed so let’s just get into it!

GSA Search Engine Ranker Interface

First let’s look at the interface before we get into the nitty gritty stuff.

On your main GSA Search Engine Ranker panel, you can see your list of projects created, tools, colour coded verified links and a real time log with statistics.

GSA Search Engine Ranker interface

The stats along the bottom tell you-

  • How many submitted links there are and which ones submitted today
  • The amount of active proxies
  • Number of verified links from today
  • How many submitted links a minute
  • How many solved captchas
  • Memory & CPU usage

If you ever need a reminder of what they mean, hover over with your mouse for an explanation to pop up.

To see more options, right click the project and you have lots of things to change here such as status, priority, type of active mode and modifying the project.

GSA SER options panel

Show URLs will allow you to look at both submitted and verified links which you can export or look at more specific statistics about them in charts and graphs.

You can even sort them out by engine, internal/external, follow or no follow and link type.

Remember, a submitted link is one that has not been verified if it is live and a verified link is one that is submitted and currently live.

Other project options include making changes in bulk and importing target URLs. You can import your own URLs that you’ve scraped or you can import from a site list.

GSA Search Engine Ranker Settings

On top of the last verified URL list, there is an option button to change the settings for your project. The setting options you have are thread count, proxies, and various other things.

GSA Search Engine Ranker options

The thread count defaults at 50 which is fine unless you have a more powerful computer. Mine is quad core with 16 gigs of rams so I can set it up to 250 threads.

If you don’t, 50 will work just fine.

Make sure you have checked the box to use proxies and GSA SER will scrape public proxies for you. Set it to search for new ones every 60 minutes if there are less than one hundred active.

Test all of them and take out the failed proxies if they’re older than a few hours.

gsa proxy settings

The problem with public proxies is that they aren’t 100% reliable and you normally receive a high failure rate which ends up wasting your time.

If you spend a few dollars on Buyproxies and buy semi-dedicated proxies, the success rate is much greater and is really worth your money.

To input your own proxy list, click Add proxy, import them from clipboard and set them to private. After you add them, go back to settings and decide which proxies to use, private or public and when.

I use my private proxies for search engines, PR checking and submissions.

Captcha Solving

Although GSA can support a large range of captcha solving services, there are two types that you really need to know.

captcha solving

The first is a software based solution such as GSA Captcha Breaker. It will try to automatically solve them for you which saves on human based captcha services.

The second one is a human based solver like Death By Captcha and these are really cheap, around $1.39 for a thousand solves.

The best way to set it up is to select a software based service as your primary and then a human based as your secondary.

That way your primary will help reduce the captcha costs and your secondary can pick up any failed ones and is much cheaper.

captcha service setup

To set it up click Add and select the services of your choice. Test to check your balance, set up your retry limit and the rest of the options.

If you don’t want GSA to ask you when solves aren’t successful, untick the box that says to ask the user if everything else fails.

GSA Search Engine Ranker will automatically ping all the backlinks it makes but you can integrate them into the supported indexing services if you want.

Although some people like using the indexer services, I don’t believe they’re really all that necessary. Instead you can build more links to them with GSA SER but if you’ve got them and want to use them, then feel free to integrate them.

indexing services

Some of the indexers are GSA SEO indexer, Linklicious, Nuclear Link Indexer, Link Pipeline, Lindexed and Back Links Indexer. Just select the ones you want and enter the API key for each one.

Another option is the filter which allows you to skip submissions if the URL if appearing in your blacklist. You can leave all these at defaults.

Advanced – Site Lists

Sites lists allow you to keep a log of different types of links GSA Search Engine Ranker discovers and submits to.

You can then reuse these lists in other projects to speed up the overall submission process.

There are 4 types of site lists-

  1. Identified sites to post to
  2. Sites that have been successfully posted to
  3. Successfully submitted and verified links
  4. Failed links

site lists setup

I recommend keeping a record of successful and verified submissions so you can use them later on in future projects.

One of the options for a new project is to import target URLS and you can do that from a previous site list.

After a few months of using GSA Search Engine Ranker, you’ll end up having a huge site list of verified and successful links that you can save and import quickly in various projects. So tick verified and successful to save these two lists.

Starting Your Project

When you’re done setting everything up and all the options are how you want them, click Start to get your project going.

As soon as you do that, GSA Search Engine Ranker will start going out and finding targets and submitting and verifying links.

starting your campaign

During the process, you might get pop ups from GSA that needs you to answer random questions. To prevent these pop ups which can get annoying, hit Stop and double click the project.

Select Options tab and you’ll see a line that says if a form can’t be filled to Ask User or Choose Random. To stop pop ups, change it to Random.

fix popups

You’ll have to change this for every project so remember to do that before you start a new one!

So that is an overview of the GSA interface and the specific features and options it has.

Now let’s look at a sample project!

Sample GSA Search Engine Ranker Project – Quick Tour

I’m going to show you around a sample project quickly so you get an idea of how everything fits together.

Then we are going to create a project together :)

The left side column is a list of links to where you want to submit to such as:

  • Blog comment
  • Directory
  • Forum
  • Image Comment
  • Pingback
  • Social Bookmark
  • Social Network
  • Video
  • Web 2.0
  • Wiki

gsa ser sample campaign options

Compared to SENuke XCR, this list may not look like a lot. Even when you click on the plus, you’ll see all the options underneath but it still doesn’t look like there’s many places GSA Search Engine Ranker posts to.

This is because all of these are platforms used by thousands of different sites. WordPress for example is a widely used platform so if you choose WordPress article, GSA Search Engine Ranker will post to all sites using that platform which is in thousands.

Don’t be fooled by your first impression, there’s endless supplies of sites to post to behind the scenes!

platforms list

In the main window you have to input all the data for your campaign. The options panel gives you great control over how links are built which has gotten a lot better in recent times.

So now you know what you are looking for let me take you through creating your first project.

Creating Your First Project

To start a new project, click New and a new project will pop up. First you have to choose which link types to use which will depend on the type of campaign your running.

A good rule to stand by is that if you’re making your money site central to your link building structure, you have to use high quality contextual links which are links surrounded by relevant content.

new project

We can tick some of these options here such as Article, Wikis, Web 2.0’s, and Social networks. I’m going to leave it fairly simple for this example.

After you’ve selected your link types, you can start on the rest of the settings.

  1. Enter URL
  2. Enter keywords
  3. Fill in anchor text

new project settings

You can enter multiple URLs which GSA Search Engine Ranker will just rotate through at random and make variations of capital and lower case letters.

For keywords, there is the option to collect more from target sites and to use those collected words to find new target sites.

The anchor text should be based on your main keywords and must be in spintax format.

Your keywords (used to find sites to submit links to) can be the same as your anchor text if you want, just tick the box that says use keywords as anchor text.

Create A Natural Looking Link Profile

Now the next few options are important for building a natural looking profile in GSA Search Engine Ranker so you reduce the risk of being penalized by Google Penguin.

Please see the main tutorial video if you get confused here.

gsa SEO software options

Partial match: A partial match is one that includes the main keyword with something else. I really recommend keeping a list of partial anchor text.

Branding anchor text: Some examples of branded anchor text for my blog, would be Matthew Woodward, Matthewwoodward and

LSI anchor text: Use scrapebox or Google wonderwheel to get some new words and paste that into here.

Generic anchor text: words like “click here” or “see more”.

Citation: Creates a naked URL of your site which makes your profile look much more natural.

Anchor text variation: varies the uppercase and lowercase letters of anchor text

Combined, these settings will help you build a very natural looking profile.

Kontent Machine About Me Profile

For your About Me, you either drop in a default profile or use Kontent Machine to generate several about me’s.

For the log in and passwords just tick the randomization box and GSA Search Engine Ranker will generate them for you. Enter the website title, categories, either suggested or root, forum comment and a description.

I keep my descriptions the same as the 250 description and leave the forum comment at default. Forum nickname and forum password will be randomized if the box is ticked.

Don’t forget to properly spin any content with my Best Spinner tutorial before adding to your campaign.

Even More GSA SER Options!

Don’t think we’re done yet! Under the options tab, we have even more stuff to fill out.

gsa project advanced options

The options you have are:

  1. Choose to pause your project after a certain amount of submissions or verified links a day
  2. Leave the verified link options at default and tick the box to send verified link to indexer services.
  3. Do not tick the box to use character spinning!
  4. Choose to randomly have spelling mistakes or typos

To avoid pop ups like before, remember we have to select the box to randomly choose a selection. Have all services fill captchas if you set up captcha solving services.

To use tags, you have a choice between keywords or anchor text.

scrape targets options

To tell GSA Search Engine Ranker how to get target URLs, you’ll need to tell it where to look.

First, pick the search engines. Right click to search by country which I usually do and this will depend on your target audience and language so I’m going to pick UK and United states.

I also like to use keywords to find target sites. Even though it comes back with less, the results are usually more accurate and relevant which is what you want when building links.

 Quality over quantity!
gsa search engine settings

Tick the box to use URLs from your global sites list if you have one and you can also choose to analyze and post to competitor’s backlinks.

This option will try to replicate the backlinks for sites that rank for your target keywords. It’s not perfect but you are able to get some substantial value from it.

It doesn’t differentiate between good links and spam links so the risk is if the link profile is pretty spammy, then GSA SER will try to grab those links for your own as well.

GSA Search Engine Ranker posting schedule

GSA Search Engine Ranker allows lets you set up a posting schedule so you don’t get banned if you’re building multiple links from the same site. Try to space it out so your links don’t get deleted or anything like that.

I don’t normally use it but it can be handy.

GSA SER target url filter

Under the Filter URLs tab, it’s important to set these options up.

  • Skip sites with more than X amount of outgoing links on one page. Normally, sites have about 125 links so you can safely increase this to 100
  • Skip sites with a PR of X
  • Types of backlinks to create
  • Skip sites that have bad words, from different countries or languages and the following words in the URL or domain

Consider creating multiple projects to get a variation of PRs to look more natural. Try to skip sites with a PR less than 0 and unknown PR.

Email Verification

There’s three types of email addresses that we can use.

  1. Disposable
  2. Web mail based
  3. Self hosted

Disposable sites are widely available but many sites will block those so you’ll end up with a high failure rate.

Webmail based emails don’t fail as much but there are still some sites out there that block web mail based accounts.

Self hosted email is something like [email protected] but using a gmail or hotmail account will be fine for most. You can take the time to make your own or buy a bunch on Fiverr.

email settings

Enter your email of choice and at the bottom are several more options to choose from. I want to wait fifteen minutes between two different log ins but the rest is left at default.

Make sure you test this!

If anything doesn’t work here, your campaign is in danger of failing as it’s running.

Article Manager

Now let’s choose some articles to add but make sure you spend time creating quality content to use in your link building.

If you don’t know how, I suggest you check out my advanced spinning tutorial because you need have to have some high quality hand spun content.

article manager

If you already have articles ready, just click Add and paste your content directly into there with a title. It’ll grab the first paragraph automatically to use as the summary.

Once that’s ready, you can preview it, complete with links and all.

Repeat the same steps to add a second article. Easy as that!

On the bottom are some more options for editing your articles in terms of links and such.

Inserting Links

You can either insert a link with a sentence at the bottom, a sentence in the article, or No link.

To be honest, these options don’t give you as much control since the link seems randomly placed. To make it look more natural, directly add your links when you are spinning the article.

insert link options

I talk about this in the spinning tutorial but you can do this with a tag in GSA Search Engine Ranker.

Next you can insert media randomly with GSA Search Engine Ranker and that saves you some time. One last thing I change on here is to not duplicate content anywhere instead of per account.

Click OK to finish your campaign setup and you’ll see it get added to the list!

Tiered Link Building

Setting up a tiered link building campaign is fairly easy and is similar to creating a new campaign. First we have to create a new campaign like we did before.

The one difference is to tick the box that says use verified URLs of another project (multi tier/link wheel). As soon as you select that box, a pop up will appear.

Choose your project, the money site.

tiered setup

Now your new campaign is going to build links to the campaign you chose earlier, tier 2 to tier 1.

To add another tier, repeat the steps to set up another project, tick the same box and pick the second tier.

Building tiered link structure is quite easy in GSA SER!

Removing Links

We all know that Google is constantly changing. What worked perfectly a year ago, may not work so well now. So you always need the ability to remove links you have built, just in case!

GSA Search Engine Ranker can help you clean your backlink profile as long as they were created by GSA SER which is extremely useful.

remove links

All you have to do is right click on the project, hover on status and click Active (remove links). GSA SER will go through and remove all the links created as it is running.

It can’t remove ones such as blog comments since there was no registration/account created but it can remove a large amount of them.

Integrating Kontent Machine

GSA Search Engine Ranker allows you to integrate with various services to help you set up campaigns quickly.

One of the best tools I like to use for this is Kontent Machine. Just follow my Kontent Machine tutorial to learn how to prepare your content.

Once you’ve finished preparing your content with Kontent Machine, there’s an option to build and export. Choose the GSA Search Engine Ranker template, select export and save it.

Kontent Machine GSA Export Tool

When it’s done saving, you can go back into GSA Search Engine Ranker to import the content.

Select Tools, import, data field, your file and fields you want to fill. Right away all of the data has been exported and filled in all of the boxes.

GSA Kontent Machine Import Tool

You could also use Kontent Machine to generate hundreds of articles to import into the article manager.

Wrapping It Up

The GSA Search Engine Ranker team has been constantly working and updating this tool in the last year and it’s miles ahead of what it used to be when it first came out.

They have come a long way in the past year to make it one of the most powerful and diverse link building tools on the market. It really is a crucial tool to have in your arsenal.

Thanks Matt, another great tutorial. I’m liking GSA more and more and I have started to use it for some Tier 1 links, with the right settings you can get some pretty good Tier 1’s. Wish it was available on MAC though as my PC died on me recently :-(

I’ve also included 1 of your Tiered link building videos in my new post of ‘The top 8 You Tube video’s for SEO’

So thank’s for sharing them with us…. I must learn how to make quality video’s like this in the near future!

  7. Scott

I’ve been using GSA for about a year now, ( I have a few small niche sits) and have had fair to good results with it. The only thing I’ve not liked about it is that there has not been much in the way of how to use it correctly. Do it wrong and get the Google slap. Ouch! GSA is a powerful double edged razor sharp sword.

Thanks for the great tutorial video. My setup is GSA, Captha Breaker, GSA Indexer and WickedArticleCreator (instead of Kontent Machine).

Matt, do you think I should go and get KM? It looks like I can do about the same thing with WAC.

Also, do you think I should not be using the indexer? I don’t see an indexer of any sort in your list. Thanks so much for this great tutorial. This is a game changer for me and I only had to wait a year for it. LOL

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 9th, 2014 at 11:11 pm

      Hi Scott,

I plan to fill that gap – this is more of a general overview/how to use it. I will publish solid case studies but they take time to prepare and put together & my focus is the $100 case study at the moment.

When I was looking for content generators I found WAC to be awkward to use and it took a while to get what I wanted done. That was a while ago so it might have changed but check out the more detailed tutorial at

I don’t use indexers, just build out a tiered structure and it takes care of that

  8. Paula

  11. Mart Shark

Kudos for the giveaway, but how about some less black-hattish software? The SEO world is changing and if you’re not building churn and burn type sites, my feeling is that automating links like this is becoming higher and higher risk.

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 9th, 2014 at 10:57 pm

You are right in what you say – SEO is just risk management. But there is a smart way and stupid way to go about it.

I don’t buy into the automated software causes penalty arguments. Granted it can help lead to them, but they only do what humans tell them to do.

For example if I had bricks and mortar I couldn’t build a wall, but someone else could build a castle.

I already own GSA but only got Google slaps till now. Damn! Well, there is a learning curve and it will take time for me to get everything.

I admit that GSA is an extremely powerful tool which could easily kill your site if you get it even slightly wrong. This video is indeed very good.

Matthew, I always follow your posts. They are filled with tons of value! Great Going…:)

  27. Akbar Sheikh

    Hey Matt,

This is awesome! and long time coming! Just entered the competition! I now really understand the amount of effort you put in arranging these competitions for us. Specially when Sven, already has his hands on “Santos” his preferred partner to promote GSA!… Kudos to you sir!… Much appreciated!

  31. Will McDonald

As always Mr. Woodward, the best tutorials in IM hands down…

I can’t believe the GSA guys still charge $99 use 1 time fee. The guy is crazy.

Quick question – Why are you into Social bookmarks, You use them in your UD tuts as well. Have you cross tested this and actually noticed difference if you leave them out vs include them. I’m just trying to figure out the velocity I should be using of social bookmarks within my link building campaign.

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 10th, 2014 at 11:56 am

I told the developer the same thing – I just emailed him your comment to tell him again :P

Even at $97 a month this would be a bargain.

I haven’t done that test no sorry =\

    Another Q

Any way to limit MAX subs the way you would with Senuke or UD, If you forget to shut down or swap content, GSA will continue building links even if your content has lost its uniqueness (like leavin the oven on)

Bought scrapebox but no cash for GSA :(. This would be great belated new year gift >.<".

Thanks for the great give away Matthew.

Just one question have you evever tested earning thought google adAdsense with blogs? If yes how was it? If no why not?

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 12:27 pm

Then I wish you good luck :)

I would prefer to push people onto my list rather than through an adsense click.

    • garratt
      January 18th, 2014 at 6:19 am

In other words, Adsense makes you very little money. You could have adsense and earn a few bucks per click. Or you could have a product /w optin form and earn $39 per click + email address to follow up with upsells and more products later down the line.

      • Matthew Woodward

    Hi Matt

Do you think GSA is better than UD now in terms of it be a One stop shop for tier link building?

i know UD is your fav piece of link software but which would you choose now if you could have but one and why?

    Cheers matey!

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 12:20 pm

If I was on a desert island and could only pick 1? It would probably be GSA

  43. Simon

One other question re: proxies….how much do you spend per month. Will $10 do it for 1 entire project or Many projects?

  48. jespana

I have been using GSA with UD but it seems like I may not need to use UD anymore. My question to you Matt is do we still use the same concept from your tier link building videos but just use GSA now? I have created hand made Web2.0 in the past and used your method to rank very well. I was going to do the same this round and post to the same handmade Web2.0 as they are still alive after 1 year because I only post medium to good content. I keep the best content for my personal websites and will be working on a few more videos soon.

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 12:02 pm

Yes you can apply the theory from those videos with any tool you like. You should also take a look at jacobs post I linked to on the subject

  49. Justin

    Hi Matthew!

Great video! I like how you respond to each and every comment :). I was wondering if we should only use our scraped site list with gsa? in other tutorial u said using scrapebox to get your own list is a must, and yet this video mentions very little about making your own lists. should i use gsa defaults? thanks!

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 12:02 pm

      Hi Justin,

Yeah responding is slowly killing me and takes hours of each day – I need to find a more streamlined solution as its costing time against content production. You should see how many emails I have get every day o_O

      You can use both :)

  50. Phanindra

  51. ahardinweb

Hey Matt, as always, great tutorial. Interesting the shift in perception of GSA only being useful for lower tiers. While that may have been true in its early days, you are right, its continual updates have paid off as it now has even powerful features (some I hadn’t realized til your tut). Do you think the new version of Xrumer will have a similar shift in perception and use?

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 11:58 am

Xrumer will always be a tool for the technical elite – GSA will suit most people, xrumer is only needed when you need to go from thousands of links to million of links.

  52. Danny Jones

  55. Ivaylo

    Hi, Matthew

Great tutorial again! It was extremely valuable for me. I have a question, that wasn’t addressed in the video if I’m correct.

I’ve been using Licorne for Tier 1 up to now. The main reason being that GSA SER wasn’t good at applying the filters based on OBL and PR. (meaning that it used to submit links to sites with higher OBL count and/or lower pr than specified) Has that changed?

After this tutorial, I’m considering ditching Licorne all together and building all my links with GSA SER. It seems like much more mature program to me.

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 11:55 am

Yes they have got much better with those elements of control.

  56. Justin

    Hi Matt!

I love your videos!! especially this one. I have a question regarding GSA and scraping your list. In your other videos you stress the importance of scraping your own list, yet this one mentions very little of it. Should I be using only my list? or use a combination of both gsa list and the ones i have scraped myself. Thanks!!

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 11:54 am

Part of what GSA does is go out and scrape targets for you. You can also import your own scraped list from scrapebox which I recommend as it speeds up the end to end process in GSA.

  57. Many

Been waiting on this video! thanks matt!

  58. Jacob Suhr

    Hi Matthew

Thanks for leading us by the hand through this tool. It’s a bit of a daunting task to get familiar with it. I had a trial of GSA SER just sitting at my desktop half a year ago. It just sat there. Your tutorials provide me and others like me (read: procrastinating “If-I-get-THIS-Tool-I-wont-have-to-work-as-hard” kind of guys) a means of circumventing the worst excuses for not making a dime online. That and it’s a great help in showing us how to avoid screwing things up by reminding of details such as foot prints.

I was wondering if you would advice on having this tool running on a fps or your own pc or on a vps? I have an old geezer of a pc (seven years old IBM Thinkpad) and a newish Mac. I would rather get GSA Ser and a cheap but reliable vps, rather than a new pc. What would you think is the best set up? And have you even got a recommendation for this procrastinating im’er?

    Thanks in advance

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 11:52 am

      No worrys :)

A VPS from will do the trick just fine.

I want to run GSA SER and GSA Captcha Breaker on a VPS.

Which VPS package should I get? Windows SSD One ($15 per month) OR Windows SSD Two ($30 per month). Thanks.

        • Matthew Woodward
          March 18th, 2016 at 1:00 pm

Honestly there are so many variables that go into that (like how many campaigns/threads you run) that its difficult to give an accurate answer.

So its better to start with the cheapest one, and if you find its struggling (Captcha Breaker is CPU heavy) then it only takes a support ticket for them to upgrade you. Equally you don’t want to be paying for the higher plan if the lower plan does the trick.

    • garratt
      January 18th, 2014 at 8:34 am

PC’s are pretty cheap, like you can pretty much buy a brand new one for about $300-400 (in US, newegg etc), and considering you’re going to pay $50+ per month on a VPS might be worth the investment. or it may be too much hassle than it’s worth depending on what you prefer.

      • Jacob Suhr
        January 20th, 2014 at 11:57 am

        Hey Garrat

Many thanks for your feedback. I am currently residing in Denmark, where electronics are significantly more expensive, compared to e.g. the US. The same goes for the prices of IM-tools where the 25% vat hurts the wallet a little more than most other places.

But you are absolutely right about a vps being a short term investment compared to a new pc. So thanks for the advice, it got me thinking.

        Best regards

    Hi Matt,

    Hope you are doing well.

Appreciate for your efforts you put on your website & like the way you teach by your Tutorials. Talking about GSA, personally I like SER & already have a copy of it which I purchased before a month ago.

There are many people in this competition to win but this competition matter me a lot as I really want to win this Competition for my younger brother.

I heartily yearn to win & get GSA SER for my brother. I hope my wish will come true, surely.

If I do not win the competition I definately think I need to buy GSA SER to start ranking my e-commerce site.

I have already started building tier 1 Links including some web2.0, Youtube channel, Linkedin profile, articles etc… For tier 2 can I send links to my Linkedin, youtube, and articles to pass on the linkjuice or is this not worth it?

    Hi Matt!

Great video on gsa! I was wondering if I should use scrapebox to scrape my sites and import them to gsa and not use the default gsa list. or should i use both? I tried commenting before but it was never posted. Do they await for your consideration?

    Thanks again.

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 17th, 2014 at 11:11 am

      Do both :)

Set up a scraping project with scrapebox and then import the target list.

I could update the post with gsa footprints if you like?

“Yeah responding is slowly killing me and takes hours of each day – I need to find a more streamlined solution as its costing time against content production. You should see how many emails I have get every day o_O”

I think that is part of the reason why you’re so successful is because you connect with your followers on a personal level. Most “gurus” don’t have time for it. But I do agree with what you’re saying. It holds you back from bringing us more quality content!

But as a follower I really do appreciate you responding back to all your commenters!!

            Hi Matt,

I’ve taken a look into extracting gsa footprints myself but i’m running into a dilemma for i’m not sure how footprints truely work. Should I be extracting ALL of gsa footprints from every module and combining them into one file so scrapebox can use it. OR should I be Only extracting the modules I will be using for that time/tier.

            For example:

Tier 1: I will be using Article Wiki and Web2
            Tier 2: I will be adding Bookmarks, Directories,Comments, Guestbooks,Image comments,Trackbacks.

Should I just get only tier 1 footprints then scrape, then go back and get tier 2 footprints and scrape? Or Is it possible for me to scrape all of them together at one time. Thanks!!!

            January 24th, 2014 at 8:42 am

I believe that you can import a master list into a project, and then it will respect the settings of that project. I think.

  73. Will

    1. Is 1 email per campaign, should I be using multiple emails with multiple extensions @hotmail, @mydomain, @gmail. Also, using 1 email when your building links to multiple sites won’t leave a footprint?

    2. Drip feed 10 verified links per day, up to 300 total per article (hand spun, 3x sentences, via your video) cool for my money site page?

    3. I’m thinking manually spun content for tier 1 AND tier 2, then tier 3 using KM3, what you think. OR do you think I can use KM3 content for my tier 2? Is using manually spun for tier 2 a waste of resources? This is a conservative money site with many hours invested.

    • Matthew Woodward

      1) Yes that will be fine, 1 per campaign is good to go.

      2) Don’t forget 10 verified links, might actually end up with more. It might submit 100, then check the first 10 to find them live and stop. But some of the remaining 90 could be live.

      3) Then I would take a stance of risk vs cost and work out the best route. Really the cost of content is low so ^^

Hey Matthew..thanks for such an informative video..

Have you seen any success building Tier 1 links? I know you show that in the video and advise caution.

How long does it take to see results.

Is it safer to use it with an older site that is 1-2 years old than with a new one?

O ya one thing not sure about..are all the sites under the different categories already within the tool…can we add other sites manually? or does that list get updated?

    Too many questions, sorry…

well I’m a newbie with all this so not quite sure if its on the up and up..some people advise against using such tools..

Well any link you build your site is a tier 1 link – and we have all seen success building tier 1 links.

How long it takes for results is an impossible question to answer, but its probably about the same length as a piece of string.

GSA doesn’t work off ‘sites’ it works off ‘platforms’ – each platform is used by thousands and thousands of sites.

Thanks Matthew..another question I meant to ask is how much processing overhead is needed..does your computer need to be on all the time GSA works? Or does it work off the web on its own once you launch a campaign.

Not sure about the price — is it 100 or 297? Seen both prices advertised :)

As always, Excellent Tut Matt –

I need to ask you something about the theory behind Tiered Link Building.

Given that most of these sites are heavily spammed with poor content, MOST of the sites will drop off the map, either by being abandoned by the webmaster or being heavily deindexed by google to the point where your link won’t add value to your site.

The sites with high PR that won’t drop off the map will have more sophisticated anti spam measures. I’m guessing they can figure out when you have links pointing to only 1 site, regardless of how well spun your content is, they should figure out what your doing (some wont, but majority should be able to).

I know SEO is essentially short term cat and mouse game with Google. But this all just seems very short term thinking, which is fine for an affiliate site or a burner site. But for auth site, I’m trying to determine if its worth the time.

Would love to hear your thoughts or comments from anyone on this. How many of your links from GSA or UD still exist 1+ years later.

      January 23rd, 2014 at 10:28 pm

Its a tricky question with a lot of variables. But really you should be looking to own as much as your first tier as possible which mitigates all issues.

The more authority you can control in that manner the better – but I know your already well on your way to that :)

  77. Mike

Hey Matt, Thanks for the great Tutorials w/ GSA.

            Ok here it goes again:

When putting in your keywords in the right place of the article it should make sense right.

You advise to use generic, branding etc. keywords with the GSA anchor tag.

But doing so sentences would for example begin with: is a short term loan blabla….. so that clearly doesnt make any sense.

How would you deal with this but still make sure anchors are diversified?

    Hi Matthew,

I was following your blog fro a while now especially the GSA threads.

My biggest problem is that i don`t know how to use GSA to rank new websites. The software it`s so powerful but when it comes to ranking websites it`s about quality not quantity as you know.

I see people which ranked brand new sites sometimes in as short as one week using only GSA so i want to learn something similar.

My questions for you are those :

    1. Can I use the info provided in this tutorial to rank a brand new site ?

    2. Apart of this guide do you have any other tutorials of ranking websites with GSA which works now ?

    Please let me know

    Thanks in advance,

    • Matthew Woodward

      1) Yes

      2) No sorry :(

Just don’t get ahead of yourself and start link building before you’ve built a site that actually deserves to rank.

  81. Jack

    Nice information.

Hi Matthew, between GSA and Ultimate Demon which one do you think is better? is there any difference between the two? I saw you give Ultimate Demon a very high rating yet you’re using GSA for your tiered link building videos. Another thing is right now back links aren’t as important as it used to be, is it still a good idea to build tons of back links using this kind of software?

After watching this tutorial, at last, I have bought GSA using your aff link. It was really helpful in-depth tutorial I have ever seen so far.
Can I use Kontetmachine generated T1 articles with GSA for my first tire back linking? I am a bit skeptical about machine generated articles for T1 after penguin updates.

Yeah you can – that depends on the goal of your SEO campaign though. You can do anything you want, its just a matter of managing risk/reward.

  97. Jonathan

    Thanks Matt,

Yet another purchase for you. I will now try this out on a couple of websites I have waiting to get some back links….

Will try a couple of methods; one using your demonstration, so that GSA builds all tiered links and another where GSA links to manually made tier 1 links that I have control of.

Will see how how it works out over the next few months.

In your video, I noticed that you have added 50 proxies – does that mean you are using the 50 semi-dedicated proxy service?

        HI Matt,

I am trying to put together my first attempt at using GSA to create Tier 2 links (Tier 1’s have been manually created), but have issues with the placement of the links.

I have raised the issue in the forum, see if anyone can help.

        • Matthew Woodward

          • JonathanH
            February 18th, 2014 at 9:26 pm

Ended up just putting the macro instruction at the end of the article, can’t seem to get it to work in the actual article – I end up with a an entire spun text in the preview output!

As these are going to be going to the Tier 1 links anyway, does it matter that I have chosen to have a random sentence at the bottom of the article or ‘No Link’ with the UR macro at the bottom of the article?

Seems OK with a random sentence, would not want to point this directly to money sites.

            thanks for the reply though.

          • Matthew Woodward
            February 19th, 2014 at 8:09 am

Well you should be inputting raw HTML into the article not any macro code.

I would try and avoid using it in the way you have it setup. Having the link coming from the same place in the article over and over highly reduces how unique it is.

          • JonathanH
            February 19th, 2014 at 9:28 pm

Thanks for the quick reply, secondly in your example of the best spinner your use a single URL, yet I want to point the articles to 6 different URLS and with different anchor text.

The paragraphs really would not make any sense when using all the anchor text and I don’t quite get how you could put raw HTML code into the article to incorporate all of the URLS and all of the variations of the anchor texts?

I have been using it one one project for a day so far, and the issues apart from the above are:

ZERO links verified, they all seem to be getting deleted – frustrating!!!!!

The Proxies that I bought keep on getting removed by GSA and replaced by GSA own ones that they find – which are next to useless – arrrh!

Banging my head against a wall here – will see if there are other tutorials, for utter newbies with very little experience….

          • JonathanH
            February 19th, 2014 at 9:40 pm

As I am trying to send ‘links’ to only tier 1, would it would be worth just ticking all of the channels and sending as many as I can?

          • Matthew Woodward
            February 20th, 2014 at 9:25 am

I would still keep quality at a med-high level on tier 2

          • Matthew Woodward
            February 20th, 2014 at 9:24 am

I would write separate paragraphs for each of the 6 URLS (spun at sentence and word level) and then just spun all of those 6 paragraphs against each other.

Just go into your proxy settings and untick the box about automatically searching for new proxies.

Your other issues, speak with Sven – doesn’t sound tyypical. But link verifications take a long time – I have a project that started on Sunday morning that is so far at 811 submitted / 586 verified.

          • JonathanH
            February 20th, 2014 at 5:29 pm

After thinking about it, that is the way I would have then completed it in the future – agree.

Ticked that box – problems solved.

That ratio is far better than mine! At present 276/23 verified and project 2 212 submitted/39 verified. Am guessing the issue would be around links perhaps?

Suggest Kontent Machine to generate content for the lower tiers – I am guessing you would suggest this also!

Do you run GSA on a separate machine – I haven’t noticed any speed issues with PC having 100 threads open, 10 proxies at the moment.

          • Matthew Woodward
            February 24th, 2014 at 9:44 am

Yeah I keep everything seperate from the main machine, theres a couple reasons-

Viruses – when your PC is loading thousands of webpages in the background all day every day, its easy to get stung!

Performance – While GSA doesn’t slow things down under normal usage. When I’m recording videos, editing/exporting etc it cripples it

Security – I run my main machine through an encrypted VPN which would slow down GSA considerably

    Hi Mathew,

Just curious about your opinion on GSA vs SENuke or similar tool? This is a great price for GSA compared to SeNuke and I am not trying to dissuade anyone form buying GSA. However I already own a lifetime license for SeNuke so I am just curious if you feel GSA offers any additional tools that may be useful for someone who already owns another link building tool like SeNuke? I’m trying to decide if I should purchase GSA as well. Thanks.

I guess they don’t understand marketing. Gone forever I highly doubt any marketer would believe that. As soon as the popularity has fallen it will be back at the same discounted price you sucked them in with. I really don’t like that practice by the way.

        • Matthew Woodward

  105. Marc

Matt, I tried to order from the link and it did not give me the discount. You never mentioned Feb. 6th being UK time you only mentioned the discount would not be available after Feb. 6th. I am from NY and it was Feb 6 and it was after 9pm as I put in the comment. I would like you to honor this since I was playing by your rules, you should have mentioned that the clock was on UK time and it would have been more clear. I feel deceived since it was not made clear. I would hope your are honest and would work with me. All I ask for is fairness, nothing more nothing less.

This is a uk website, with a uk domain which is also highlighted in the logo. There was no slight on my part, you missed that, a number of emails went out to remind you and the page was very clear-

“Once the discount expires it is gone forever – that is a legit promise. The discount will not be honoured after the 6th – you have been warned.”

That was bolded, italiced and underlined.

The reasons behind that strict message is if you have been following the blog you will know its taken me over 6 months to negotiate this prize and discount.

The terms around it were VERY strict and I have absolutely no control over the discount at all. It’s not like I can just ‘turn it back on’

It is what it is, nothing I can do. Next time there is a discount, the same rules will apply.

The fair thing to do is apply the same rules to everyone, which I’m doing.

  106. Munir Nathoo

Wow! Am I glad I got it the instant I got your email Matthew! Looking at the comments above, I think for you to negotiate and keep a hold on that price for that long for a product that was even yours is commendable!

I have not seen and do not think I will ever see GSA Ser being offered at this price again!

You must have some real clout with the boys at GSA! LoL!

Well people just don’t believe it when you say, when its gone it is gone.

Actually I don’t have any clout – I just annoyed the hell out of them for 6 months until they said yes :)

I actually think it should be priced at $97 per month for new customers rather than a one time payment.

    Hi Matthew,

I have bought Google SER using your discount link. Thanks for that. Also, can you please clarify 1 point. If I start some campaign and in case of any power failure/system crash kind of issues, can we pause it ? And my system has 4 GB RAM so roughly what might be the feasible no. of threads ?

You have great articles, Matthew and I do follow them regularly.

Do you have any wordpress plugin which creates the PDF of the article or is it that you create it manually and set it with that plugin ?

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 8th, 2014 at 9:42 am

      Yes you can pause it.

In terms of threads that depends on things like CPU, proxies and bandwidth as well. Just start with 50 and see how it runs.

Yes you can pause and resume easily.

There are more to threads than just RAM, you also have to consider CPU, available bandwidth, proxies and more – it’s best just to start out at 100 and then tweak it as you go.

You can use to create PDFs from posts easily

    Hi Matthew Woodward,
I just finished reading your blog post, wow, it’s amazing how after 1 short year (well, I guess it’s almost a year and half by now), you have accomplished what you have got so far.
I just picked up a lot of helpful tutorials, which I’m going to give them all a try. That’s also crazy how you have got so popular in the search engines
without much link-building tactics. Thanks for the helpful post !

Is this software can submit the top Article submission, Directory sites or top PR sites or I have to do that manually. I think some top sites need approval by their admin & it takes couple of days to post. Kindly clear me out.

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 19th, 2014 at 8:05 am

Yes it can submit to article directory and directory type sites – if they need admin approval, theres not much you can do about that.

  111. Subhojeet

I have some queries regarding GSA Search Engine Ranker. Is this mandatory to buy Proxies every month, because I have a dynamic IP Address & it’s cannot be changed. If I don’t buy Captcha beaker as well as Death by Captcha service, then for how many days can I run GSA Search Engine Ranker. And finally once a campaign will complete, all the active back links will stay on site live forever or I have to run again & again.

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 20th, 2014 at 9:28 am

Yes you will need proxies when doing any form of link building with software.

You can run GSA without a captcha solving service but it wont perform as well.

Given the cost of proxies is less than $10 a month and captchas are $1.39 – your probably best investing in yourself/business.

      • Subhojeet
        February 20th, 2014 at 10:19 am

There are tons of top Article submission sites as well as directory submission too & it takes some times for review. Will GSA can submit those back links. And can I get an idea about the no of back link sites that GSA can handle, because if I want to rank my site on top then how many days I have to wait or run my campaign through GSA. If I choose an Adult niche will GSA allow to run a campaign for that.

        • Matthew Woodward
          February 24th, 2014 at 9:46 am

Your questions are very broad but yes GSA can find and submit those links – how long that takes, depends on lots and lots of variables that are in your control.

I wouldn’t use that – its just a list of public proxies with an expensive price tag

  112. Kerh

    Hi Matthew,

Great tutorial and manage to use GSA now. I get GSA through your link few days ago.

I received tons of emails requesting account confirmation. Will GSA activate/confirm the accounts automatically or I need to do it manually.

    • Matthew Woodward

GSA will do it automatically – you should be using a dedicated email address for it really

      • Kerh
        February 23rd, 2014 at 9:15 am

        Hi Matthew,

Thank you for your advice and have assigned dedicated email address for each tier. Since GSA will activate accounts automatically, is it okay for me to delete all the emails ?

When will GSA complete the submissions for a three tier project? Will it go on and on or need manual termination?

        • Matthew Woodward
          February 24th, 2014 at 9:27 am

In the email settings you can make it so GSA deletes them for you.

            Thanks Matthew,

I am now running a 3-Tiers campaign to my Tier-1 links (about 18 of them) that linking to my money site. When do you think is most appropriate to stop GSA so as to avoid over spamming.

  113. Kevin Marshall

I have watched your tiered link building series and I have a couple questions regarding Tier 1 links. You say to build Web 2.0s, article directories, and wiki links in the first tier. Is that still a safe strategy with Matt Cutts recent remarks about building article directory links?

I know it still works in Bing and Yahoo. I’m just asking about Google. I came across a recent post from Jacob King saying to only build high quality PR 2+ links to your money site now.

What’s the deal in 2014? Is it still safe to build web 2.0, article directory links, and wiki links to your money site if they aren’t at least PR 2+?

          February 26th, 2014 at 9:21 am

You should setup a couple of sites targeting low-med comp keywords and blast them – you’ll learn more getting them ranked/penalised than anything you will read.

  114. Ionut

The only thing stopping me from buying this are the absurd VAT taxes for EU buyers. Whitout coupons the total price for SER and CB is 219€(~285$). I see that you’re from the UK, how much did you pay for it.

    Dear Mattew,

I try to submit my main website to article directories, but they only were submitted, not verified is it normal ? If I understand correctly it takes a time that an administator posts that article, am I right ? How do you track backlinks from article directories after submitted ? P.S. sorry if I have mistakes, I’m from Ukraine.

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 4th, 2014 at 9:19 am

Yeah it needs manual approval so your going to have to sit tight. If it doesn’t read very well then it will probably be rejected

    Hi Matt,
Do you have any proof that using GSA works to rank a website?
Is a great tutorial to learn to use the tool, but does it get results?

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 6th, 2014 at 8:00 am

There is more to ranking a website than backlinks, but GSA will certainly help cover you on the backlink front.

  122. Ivaylo

    Hi, Matthew

After a short conversation with S4nt0s from BHW, it turns out that SER will make words from the submitted content to be links, as long as they match any of the anchor text variations that you’ve setup.

With this in mind, I want to ask you – why do you need to insert links during spinning? Isn’t it more natural to make sure you have the right words in your content and then let SER decide randomly which instance of the word to make a link each time?

I’ve always spun my links manually up to now, but S4nt0s claims that if you choose “no link” in the article manager, it will still make keywords in the content as links, which seems like a much better option to me. What do you think?

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 6th, 2014 at 8:50 pm

Your talking in the future tense. In the present including your links when spinning is necessary to look as natural as possible when using GSA.

Even if it does do it now, I also like to insert my own contextual links etc

  123. juniour

Hay Matthew i just purchased the gsa not to long ago and i believe it takes a while for the submitted links to be verified and live on the web but generally how many link should you think be submitted in a day in terms of drip feeding for a brand new site? maybe as long as you don’t blast them then you should be okay right? or is their a certain number of links per day?

    thanks in advance budz

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 10th, 2014 at 8:33 am

  124. Stoimen Iliev

Hey, Matt! I have to say that this is by far the best GSA SER tutorial out there!

I decided to make myself some short notes on how to set up the campaign , so that I don’t have to watch the whole 1 hour tutorial every time I do it. I then thought to myself that probably I’m not the only one having this problem, so I decided to post it on my blog.

Something doesn’t sound right, I would speak with GSA support

  126. Lindsay Collins @ Niche Grind

    Hey Matthew,

Love your site and videos. I’m buying GSA SER in the next few days. For Tier 1 I don’t really want to use anything spun which sucks because it’s a bit more costly. I planned to build 5 Web 2.0’s with 5 pages of original content on each Web 2.0. Also to manually submit to a few Article Sites and Wiki’s. Do you think this is being too careful?

My main question is: Can my money site get penalized by Google if I build too many Tier 2 links? Or does Tier one currently completely protect my money site, at least until Google gets smarter?

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 12th, 2014 at 8:40 am

The only safe thing to do is make sure you can delete/remove tier 1 links at will.

Then no matter what happens you are covered. GSA does have a remove links feature now as well.

  127. Tim

I think I have read from a one or more that they have been penalized for using GSA, so the theory that your “competitors” could spam your site and have you penalized seems to be true, and the back and forth goes on “how would google know”? They probably dont know or even care, google only sees your backlinks increasing in some type of un-natural way, then wham. If google can hold you liable for your backlinking efforts, then it seems just as likely google will hold you liable for what competitors do too…

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 17th, 2014 at 7:51 am

Building any type of link can get you penalised. GSA is a powerful tool, you can either use it to build or destroy.

  128. mike

I would like to thank you for the 57 minute instruction video on how to use GSA, but as a noob I am wondering how to write a good 250 description for bookmarks,

I assume its 250 characters and not words, so how would it go? would the bookmark start as a “how to” choose a good wedding caterer in sussex type of thing ? I know it can’t be a blatant add, could you share how to go about this better ?

    Best Mike

    • Matthew Woodward
      March 22nd, 2014 at 9:10 am

Just write a few bookmark descriptions like you were submitting to a site by hand. Then use those as the basis of your spin.

Anyway, for anyone interested I ran a tiered link building case study just using GSA SER with some great results.

I have one question, do you recommend using thousands of keywords with GSA or a few keywords as in the tutorial. In addition would you recommend using scrapebox to scrape the urls for GSA to post to or that would be redundant? Does GSA take a long time to find the url’s when using keywords? Scrapebox seems to be a bit faster in scraping urls according to some reviews. Please advice. thanks again.

    • Matthew Woodward

      1) Depends on your campaign

      2) Yes I have that running cocurrently

      3) ACtually it is pretty fast but I like to feed it more

  141. Rod

As usual people are getting over excited before even trying. I’ve run the free version and it looks not very easy to actually create good PR relevant links and no one here has actually had any succes with this tool as far as the comments that I’ve read so far show.

Getting decent backlinks on a relevant niche is really tough to achieve, so you better not get to excited before getting them – go and do some real work and come back and prove me wrong instead of screaming like small kids how wonderful this little toy is :)

Since, I am trying to do this w/o spending any money at all – i.e. use the free version with no PP’s or AW’s it’s not going to be easy for me.

What I had in mind to do as I’ve already created my site with the content that I’ve written myself, I thought I could use GSA to find me a few high PR sites then I would insert my backlinks manually – but as mentioned before the software has not been able to find the right sites based on the keywords I had given it –

I could do a better job myself manually – I mean finding various blogs that I could leave comments on. But since my domain names is based on a brand name, nearly all of my comments are flagged as spams, so I’m really stock on building backlinks free of charges.

          • Matthew Woodward
            May 24th, 2014 at 3:44 pm

Is the brand name owned/trademarked by someone else? If so they could take it off you whenever they please

          • Rod
            May 24th, 2014 at 7:10 pm

They own the dot com, the other extentions are taken and are being used so there should be no probs as we’re their affiliates – one of the other extentions is earning them a lot of money as my AM has mentioned to me. And that’s why I started my site – I based it on his but rewrote all the content with much more improved details. All I need now is some ranking from Google – but unfortunately cannot use PPC or pay for some decent backlinks since I’d invested heavily on a losing venture before.

          • Matthew Woodward
            May 24th, 2014 at 7:45 pm

I’m talking from a legal perspective – if your domain contains a company name or brand which is trademarked, they can force you to give them the domain and website at any point they choose. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t mean it’s safe.

I’m just speaking out of experience here, it might not happen but I have had it happen to me – especially as an affiliate. From the companys standpoint why pay all these guys affiliate commisions when I can just control the domain/website and replace all the affiliate links with direct links – all it takes is 1 letter.

          • Rod
            May 25th, 2014 at 4:13 pm

Well, if that happens it’s just bad luck and it will have cost me $2 for the domain registration fees :) but time wise I will lose a lot because I’ve done all the work on it myself.

Having said that if they were going to do such a thing they would have done it by now to the extention which allegedly has been earning 20k per month

Not true Rod. I worked in online trademark/brand infringement for years and I can tell you for a fact that just because they have not come after the domain yet is no indication they will not come after it and you in the future. Best bet is to avoid the infringement from the start.

Word to that, if I was the brand I would let someone build it up before taking it away.

What is purpose of proxy? If you buy private proxy – and then stop payment – do you lose your links?

    • Matthew Woodward
      May 25th, 2014 at 6:37 pm

The proxy is just to hide your true IP – but you wont lose your links if you stop payment

Hey Matt. The most recent Panda update got me tiered of building site white hat way – I need to ask you a question: I already have Scrapebox, which software should I buy next? I am on a tight budget, so I can only limit myself to one software purchase once in a while.

      May 31st, 2014 at 5:25 pm

The software that best aligns to your strategy and goals

  146. Bobby

Great tutorial, Matt. Is there a option for adding new sites (platforms). I saw this options in other softwares – creating my own script. This is very usefull If I want link in some custom platforms.

Yes it is possible to do but not easy.

  147. Simona

    Hi Matt,
Great tutorial, learned a lot.can you give me some advices…i am considering buying GSA SER and Scrapebox(the mandatory tools in my opinion) but my budget is very low so i don’t have enough money to invest on Kontent Machine or Best Spinner right now

Is the premium addon from Scrapebox Article Finder and Spinner a good solution for a start ?

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 5th, 2014 at 4:11 pm

To be honest I would just save a little more until you can get what you need instead of temporary fixes

  148. James

    Great Tutorial Matt.

    Just have couple of questions.

I have followed your best spinner tutorial and created a unique spun article and added it into the article manager. But I get the following message in GSA

“All articles used – Add some new”

Also how many proxies should we be using? and is it okay to only use 1 email account for submissions or do we need more as it will be annoying to go through 100 mail accounts to change the POP settings so GSA can log in.

Thanks in advance for your help! and keep up the good work :)

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 7th, 2014 at 5:03 pm

If you preview the spun article in TBS – does that work?

  149. Reven

Hey Matthew can you telll me one thing that would i be able to run scrapbox and gsa search engine ranker with the 2mb/sec broadband connection.

What is your recommended internet connection speed?
    Minimum and Maximum?

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 8th, 2014 at 4:18 pm

Sorry for stupid question, I want to know can i use GSA without proxy……..what i think is proxies require when one using GSA for harvesting Google……….so what if i get a list of harvested link from someone else and then could i just insert the list in GSA and start creating link without using proxies.

And also please manage to get $30-$40 Discount on GSA. I want buy it. Please negotiate with GSA team.

          June 13th, 2014 at 10:41 pm

GSA will fetch proxies for you automatically.

Hey matthew, I have collected some cash for buying GSA Ser but i don’t have money to buy Captcha solving service or GSA captcha breaker so would i be able to get any success without captcha solving service

You can run it without captchas no problem but it performs a lot better with them!

  150. Rajat

is Kontent Machine a must to run GSA SER for articles?

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 23rd, 2014 at 1:38 am

No but you must feed GSA SER articles one way or another!

      • rajat
        August 1st, 2014 at 2:22 pm

what would be other ways to feed SER the articles? Can you elaborate a bit with cheaper options?

        • Matthew Woodward
          August 4th, 2014 at 12:00 pm

The cheapest way is to write and spin them yourself

  151. Ali

Hi Mathew, thank you so much for great tutorial.

I am looking for alternatives and your suggestions.

I need all of it, GSA SER, GSA CB, DeathbyCaptha Credit, Proxies, Kontent Machine, and a VPS, nothing less than that for Awesome Higher Rankings?

If for a KW, Local search is 170/pm, in approximately how much time I can get Spot One in Google with your tutorial and tools?

Although, I am not sure what is VPS and how to setup with my Laptop to run GSA Campaign?

On Every update or daily basis, how GSA SER imports the Links automatically or it internally harvests/scraps on current google results and start posting on items we told it to? And will it be very great IDEA to get SERLISTS by Ron Recurring lists of 10,00,000 every month for successful campaign?

I am newbie for GSA SER and very much willing to learn in SEO industry, I love SEO and I love your ACCENT and way of tutorials. GOD BLESS YOU

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 23rd, 2014 at 1:04 am

Thats not an easy question to answer without doing a full competitive analysis of the rankings!

The VPS will let you have a remote windows enviroment hosted on a dedicated server so you can run GSA all day every day without using your laptops resources even when you turn the laptop off. You also get the benefits of the bandwidth of a 100mb connection as well to turn the threads up :) I use PowerUpHosting

GSA will automatically find new links to post to and harvest automatically!

        June 24th, 2014 at 9:10 am

        Thank you for responding.

So, Matthew, I want to ask that what are Must tools to run Normal Compaign or Tough Compaign for ranking to achieve, out of GSA SER, GSA CB, DeathbyCaptha Credit, Proxies, Kontent Machine, and a VPS

Good to know how VPS works. So, I shall Let GSA run the internal harvester and don’t need to buy ron’s list? LPM is not really that much important to be TOP SPEED.

        • Matthew Woodward
          June 24th, 2014 at 3:58 pm

Pretty much all of them :)

I don’t know who Ron is but no there is no need to buy a list

  152. Andrew Nelson

    Hey Matthew

Following your guide but little stuck with the death by capta service setup as it now asks for an ip:port field??? any advice you can offer on how to complete this field

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 23rd, 2014 at 5:48 pm

      Just leave them at default

  153. Matthew Woodward

That was for a 3 day period a while back but is no longer available sorry :(

  154. Moshe Dahari

Hi Matt, I just bought GSA SER and learning how to use it. You mentioned in your Tiered link building videos that its critical to scrape your own sites and import it into a link building software.

My question is this necessary with GSA SER because you can put in a whole bunch of keywords and it will scrape target lists for you on the fly. I understand if you don’t want GSA SER to scrape, you can turn off search engines and just import target list from scrapebox for example.

What do you think is best to do?

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 28th, 2014 at 8:00 pm

With GSA you can do either :)

  155. angela

  156. Name

Hi mat, before I thank you for the tutorial and apologize because it not good at English, and I use google translate. I am interested to buy gsa ser because of limited money. so my question is, why should buy more Content Machine? can I use ser although gsa keterbatasn language? Thank you

    • Matthew Woodward
      July 8th, 2014 at 10:11 pm

You can still use GSA without Kontent Machine but you will have to load some articles into GSA yourself.

  157. Will Just Gsa Work

hey mat, awesome video review, i was thinkingto buy gsa and do seo myself but i can’t afford captcha breaker and content machine etc right now. will buying just gsa ser work for doing good seo campaign?

    • Matthew Woodward
      July 8th, 2014 at 10:03 pm

Yes you can use GSA on its own but you will have a lower success rate and you will need to provide articles/content

  158. Zeeshan

That is the game you are playing when it comes to SEO. Any link building approach/technique can get you penalised.

  162. Paul Ray

What are your suggestions using GSA or any link building software as far as how many links can you build per day to a website without a penguin penalty for:

    1. Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3

    2. New vs Old Sites

    • Matthew Woodward
      July 18th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

    Hi Matt,

Firstly thank you for the excellent tutorial. I have just one question. Is there a feature in GSA that let’s us spread out the campaign submissions to the number of days that we want?

    Please advice.

Is there a way to specify for a certain % of bare links to anchor text to be used in an article submission.

        • Matthew Woodward

Yes you do that in the project options

  165. arati

hi Matt, I am new to this link building world. In one of your tutorials you did mention about “Ultimate Demon”. So for link building purpose, which one is better GSA Search engine ranker or UD?
I am thinking to buy one if these S/w based your tutorials but got confused which one to buy..plZ suggest…also some websites have a feaututes to check whether the submission is from a person or autmated machine. in these cases how these s/ws work? waiting for your reply. based on your reply i will decided which software to buy. thanks

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 4th, 2014 at 12:02 pm

If your on a budget and can only buy one then buy GSA. Don’t worry about the anti spam things

  166. Ying

I want to avoid Kontent Machine, will TBS be enough for SER Campaign?

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 4th, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Yes if you want to hand write and hand spin everything!

  167. Justin W.

Great post and video. I’ve watched it multiple times in the last few months as a reference point. There are so many options and features, it’s just so easy to get overwhelmed!

I have two questions. First, how would you use this to embed a youtube video across multiple sites? Is it possible with a certain settings bundle?

Also, can I use this software to syndicate to my own blog network, or only to comment? (Does it create tumblr/blogger type accounts?)

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 5th, 2014 at 11:15 am

      1) Just spin the video into your article

      2) Good question, I don’t actually know – drop support an email Sven will know or deliver a solution!

  168. Martin

Wow this tutorial is just amazing, thanks a lot :)

  169. Andy

    Hey Matt

What link types would you recommend using in GSA for Tier 1?

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 9th, 2014 at 3:27 am

      Depends on the niche/your goals

      • andy
        August 9th, 2014 at 8:23 am

Hey Matt the goal is to maintain position 4-1 for around 4+ months which would be ideal but main goal is just page 1. The search terms have become more competitive with 2 guys doing link building but don’t think it’s gsa they have used. The nich is technology based.

        • Matthew Woodward
          August 12th, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Then I would use anything that provides contextual based links surrounded with relevant content

  170. Geoffk

Great tutorial Matt! As a newbie some of what was said still went over my head. I am a local marketer looking to use video for clients. Is GSA suitable for a newb or is there a simpler piece of software that would be effective for my purpose?

    Thanks in advance

  171. reven

Hi, matthew i see you recommend poweruphosting for running SEO tools………i want to run gsa ser and cb on poweruphosting with 10 dedicated proxies.

Can you tell me which plan should i buy …..$15/month which have 1 GB ram and 1 CPU or $30/month which have 2 GB ram and 2 CPU……..i am kinda spektical about ram used by window and GSA………Can you tell me if i can run GSA smoothly with 1 GB ram, 1 CPU.

And how much threads should i use with 10 Dedicated proxies or i should by shared one. I am going to scrape targets with GSA?

And what should be delay time between search query to not get my proxies blacklisted or banned by google?

    Thank You

    • Matthew Woodward
      August 14th, 2014 at 4:55 pm

The 2GB ram / 2 cpu option from PowerUpHosting will do the trick!

Don’t worry about delay time, GSA will take care of it for you!

  173. Steven

    Hi Matt,

Have been a follower of the blog for a while now! Only just decided to take the bull by the horns in terms of taking control of my own SEO efforts. I have dowloaded the trial verison of GSA and GSA Capthca Breaker and have purchased 10 semi dedicated proxies, all set up and running. It looks as if my proxies have been blocked on certain search engines. Would you recommend purchasing more proxies? And would it be better to run this software from a VPS? My trial ends in 3 days and I am going to be purchasing through your affiliate link as you’re tutorial video really give me a good insight into where I need to focusing my efforts.

Oh and thanks for creating all the excellent content you do! I appreciate the effort it must take to put together a blog post like this one! Keep up the good work!

        • Matthew Woodward
          September 9th, 2014 at 6:39 pm

Well it really depends, for me running from a VPS is a good option – but if you have the bandwidth and computing power at home, then keep it local!

            September 9th, 2014 at 8:32 pm

  174. Nicklas

    Hi Matthew

First of all, love your blog – keep it up, man!

If I were to build a campaign for a danish site, would you recommend writing the spun articles in danish or english? I figure they will most likely be published on english-language sites?

And would it be better overall, to just start building english sites instead?

    Best regards

    • Matthew Woodward
      September 7th, 2014 at 9:55 pm

I would mix things up entirely!

  175. Goncalves

    Hello Matthew,

First of all thanks for this great tutorial!
I just bought 10 semi dedicated Proxies. In your opinion how many backlinks per day by proxy can I create to go under the radar?

Is there still good use out of GSA? Seems like a steep learning curve? Problem with this industry you are always buying software. The part that pisses me off , its not one cost cause then you got to spend more on captcha breaker and spinner ect

    • Matthew Woodward
      January 10th, 2015 at 3:21 pm

You can run it without those things and well this is business, businesses have costs.
