Income Report Roundup – November 2013

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) PinchOfYum.com – $15,048.82 (+$2,629.80)

PinchOfYumThe PinchOfYum team were knocked off the top spot last month but it’s great to see them reclaim the position!

They are making great money with their eBook products as well as some tidy affiliate commission from BlueHost.

I’m loving the new fan gate you built for Facebook guys – great tips!

#2) ACoupleTravelers.com – $13,902.00 (-$961.00)

ACoupleTravelersDave & Vicky continued on their around the world adventure a post a healthy profit this month!

Although they posted a slight drop from last month they did spend the entire month trekking around Nepal.

They have continued to grow their business and blogging relationship to boost earnings next month!

#3) MakingSenseofCents.com – $11,927 (-$407.00)

MakingSenseofCentsA new comer to the round up Michelle has posted a great month!

She has finally quit her full time job to pursue her online activity’s – congratulations!

Be interesting to see what Michelle does with all of this new found free time!

#4) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $9,855.79 (+$3,352.78)

Matthew WoodwardWhile I posted a nice month on month increase I still fell just short of my $10,000 target!

Unfortunately I was ill for most of the month which left me unable to record any new tutorials.

I focused on upgrading the blog behind the scenes with some new features that have already started to pay off!

#5) LeavingWorkBehind.com – $7,556.86 (+$3,297.86)

LeavingWorkBehindTom makes big steps this month with a huge increase in profit from last month.

He has relaunched his blog with a swanky new design and introduced some forums!

The big boost in his earnings came from securing some new writing clients throughout the month.

#6) GodOfSEO.co – $5,032.00 (-$8,207.00)

GodOfSEOCharles posted a screaming month last month but this has taken a heavy hit this month.

With good reason though, he took a break to visit family in Cyprus.

And more importantly, he quit his full time job to work for himself full time – good job sir!

#7) Moms-Make-Money.com – $4,893.06 (+$1,184.79)

MomsMakeMoneyDeby has posted sure but steady increases in profits month after month.

She saw a great boost in her site traffic after a recent plateau which converted into some nice affiliate earnings.

November marks the 1 year anniversary of her blog so it will be interesting to see how the year wraps up!

#8) LostCyclist.me – $3,278.14 (+$655.95)

LostCyclistQuinton recovers from last month’s drop by posting a recording breaking month this time around!

He is making most of his money from Amazon although Penguin 2.1 gave him a slight wobble.

It’s great to see he also met Autumn from FallForDesign.com after both getting featured in these very income reports :)

#9) TrueValhalla.com – $2,545.00 (+$510.00)

TrueValhallaMatt has taken some major hits over the last couple of months but it’s great to see him bringing it back.

He invested a lot of time re-designing and upgrading the blog which is looking much cleaner now!

Most of his income is made up from his html 5 eBook sales along with custom html 5 sponsorships & development work.

#10) MakeMoneyLessons.com – $1,374.18 (-$262.05)

MakeMoneyLessonsDean dropped off the radar for a little with income reports but is back in action this month.

Posting a slight loss from last month he was expecting it to be worse.

Most of his earnings are made up of freelance writing and publishing sponsored posts.

#11) AvocadoPesto.com – $1,259.00 (+$657.00)

AvocadoPestoThis is ran by Vicky from ACoupleTravelers report.

Earnings have declined the past couple of months but it’s great to see revenue more than double this month.

This is mostly down to the new direct advertising relationships the couple created.

#12) MakeMoneyOnlineHQ.com.au – $794.00 (+$106.06)

MakeMoneyOnlineHQGreg got hit with Penguin not so long ago so it’s nice to see him on the recovery path.

He broke some personal bests though including most traffic, highest ticket item sold and biggest adsense day.

I’m sure Greg’s recovery will continue in months to come!

#13) 87Studios.net – $258.26 (+$202.59)

87StudiosAnother newcomer to the list, the blog focuses on WordPress & blogging.

Kris has seen a nice increase in a range of metrics like traffic, search traffic, social media interactions & email subscribers.

Income also increased mostly from affiliate sales – next month should be interesting!

#14) My4HrWorkWeek.com – $253.83 (-$205.67)

My4HrWorkWeekEric’s income reports are always an interesting read due to the sheer diversity.

However we have seen Eric’s earnings slowly dwindle over recent times due to his lack of focus.

He has learnt from his lessons though and has some great plans in play to turn it around!

In Summary

There were a total of 14 blogs featured in the round up this month. Last month only 10 publish income reports so I’m glad to see more people publishing them again.

Last month the blogs earned a combined total of $60,709.99 which has increased massively to $77,977.94 this month!

An extra shout out to the PinchOfYum team for taking back the number 1 spot, Tom @ LeavingWorkBehind.com for his huge increase and newcomer MakingSenseofCents for taking the 3rd position.

Last month I was hoping we could break the $70,000 barrier collectively and we have managed to shatter that target this month!

Would it be unreasonable to break $90,000 next month? There is only one way to find out!

Performance Tracking

I only include the earnings history of the top 10 blogs each month to make the graphs easy to read.

Ok, so I’m making on average $3200 from consulting, freelance copywriting and social media services…and I’m not counting the income from web dev projects here and there. Factor these in and I’m close to $4k/mo on average. I do however pose as an “agency” although it’s just me behind the scenes, with some help from my wife every once in a while.

Does it make sense (in terms of traffic pulling) to do these income statements? Do you (or people you know) get extra work by posting income statements?

Oh, and btw, all the sites I manage got a bump in traffic thanks to Google’s latest update back in September.

    • Matthew Woodward

Thanks for the Feature Matt! (Again, hehe)

Expect a lot better results for November, though my income report maybe take a while to put together due to about 50 other things I’m working on right now.

Now I know what you meant about not having much time as a fulltime blogger/SEO, I feel your pain Matt, though I mostly feel tired xD

  14. Sunday

Sure, an extra shout out to PinchOfYum. Its impressive to see it reclaiming the top spot after the slight drop of last month.

$70,000 target has been achieved by the featured blogs in November, and I am expecting the $90,000 target for December to achieved because of the holiday sales! Thanks for this roundup.

At least, one can learn what works and doesn’t work for the featured blogs at a particular point in time.

Wow, this is amazing. I really like the cookbook idea–any advice on whether it is wise to make a hobby into a business? I run an event venue in Singapore, but also like other things. I’ve heard some people say that it isn’t a good idea to mix business and your hobbies, but it looks like most of this group is doing just that?!?

Thats what everyone here is doing, my friend has just started a business from her craft passion. In fact this blog is an example of hobby turned business!

    Hi Matt,

I have read the income report roundups for several months. Amazing! It always inspires me and I think I can do that and hope one day to included in your list.
At the beginning, I run my blog just like you – I don’t build any backlinks to it (just did one press release and some travel directory submission) and want to see how the traffic of my blog.
I target some easy keywords and I have around 30,000 UV per month. I had PR 2 in last update.
7-8 months before, I started building more backlinks to my blog and now I have around 40,000 UV per month. I just have PR3 in this update. I will share more info. with you later.
I want to know should I have to write an income report in order to be listed in this roundup?
    Please let me know.

    Hey Matthew,

You should add my blog to the list. I made just over $86,000 in November. That was my best month of the 2013 year though thanks in part to selling one of my websites for $42k.

Just found your blog (now that I’m trying to write more) and will be following along.

Will have to sync up sometime if you go to any of the conferences etc

      Hi Chris,

You need to have published a few consecutively to be included, I see you used to post them, then stopped and have recently started again.

Drop me a line when you’ve got a few regular ones done and I’ll add you in!

I’ll probably be at ASE and IRL if your around :)
