Income Report Roundup – May 2013

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) LeavingWorkBehind.com – $7,977.67 (+$505.25)

LeavingWorkBehindTom holds on to the top spot this month and has set up a swanky new office!

Interestingly he is starting to balance his working and personal life – something I’m working on as well after visiting Costa Rica which taught me a lot about ‘quality of life’.

Great to see he managed to do that while maintaining a nice increase in profit!

#2) TrueValhalla.com – $7,067.00 (+$4,844.00)

TrueValhallaMatt was having a tough time the past couple of months with big spikes & drops in profits but this month he is riding a huge spike!

Great way to end your first full year in business!

The $10,000 month target still eludes him though – that makes two of us buddy!

#3) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $6,060.41 (+$107.18)

Matthew WoodwardI had a pretty busy month including a trip to Snowbombing & Costa Rica but still managed to drive a slight increase in profit.

I have a huge focus on growing readership and general brand awareness at the moment which comes at a cost.

I’ve got some exciting things coming in the next couple of months though – you guys will lose your s*** guaranteed!

#4) NerdyNomad.com – $5,008.00 (-$1,450.00)

Nerdy NomadKirsty has decided to stop publishing income reports and her last one results in a respectable $5,008!

She doesn’t feel like her reports add much value to the readers and rarely has anything new to report on.

It’s a shame to see you stop publishing them – hopefully that will change again in the future =D It’s been great to follow you!

#5) ACoupleTravelers.com – $4,905.82 (+$1,520.82)

ACoupleTravelersDave & Vicky post a nice increase in profits this month after last month’s plateau.

They have started to integrate Twitter marketing into their efforts to grow followers. I’ve just sent you an email with a sick strategy for traffic ^^

Most of the revenue has come from direct advertising on the site and they are going to grow this further using this method.

#6) PinchOfYum.com – $3,291.46 (-$3,623.25)

PinchOfYumWhile traffic has remained the same for the PinchOfYum team they have seen over a 50% drop in earnings.

One of the big reasons they noticed for this was the drop off in clicks after a redesign.

At the end of the report you’ll see what the problem was and exactly how they have tried to fix it – good stuff!

#7) MakeMoneyOnlineHQ.com.au – $2,158.25 (+$553.95)

MakeMoneyOnlineHQA new comer to the list Greg has published a few income reports with steady growth.

His earnings are made up from a range of niche sites but most of the money comes from direct advertising sales.

Hopefully Greg continues to see steady growth next month as well!

#8) FallForDesign.com – $1,233.47 (+$217.62)

FallForDesignAutumn joined the income reports last month and has edged her way up from the #11 spot to #8 already!

Nice to see my blog is up there in the top 10 traffic sources this month =D

Interesting use of colour theory with Etsy to boost your earnings in less than a week as well!

#9) MoneyHomeBlog.com – $1,049.26 (-$626.23)

MoneyHomeBlogWoohoo you finally published an about me page and we can reveal this super-secret bloggers identity as Ceejay Joe!

He has had a lot of problems with hosting this month and it sounds like he has had a terrible experience with WPHosting. Sorry to hear that!

Now all that’s dealt with though he can focus on bringing home the bacon!

#10) My4HrWorkWeek.com – $967.02 (-$1,165.50)

My4HrWorkWeekLast month Eric achieved his personal target so it’s a shame to see such a heavy drop for him this month.

He was expecting to have a tougher time in April though as his attention was divided with tax season.

With a new focus and drive to put more time into his online business instead of enjoying the passive income – I’m expecting some exciting things from Eric soon :)

#11) BitDoze.com – $808.83 (+$127.53)

BitDozeDragos continues on the growth trend this month posting a small increase in profits.

Looks like he has a busy month ahead of him with a wedding to boot as well!

He saw a slight drop off in traffic and also wrote less posts but still manage to post an increase in profit – winner!

#12) HowIGotRich.net – $772.00 (-$958.00)

HowIGotRichJoe saw a huge spike in earnings last month which has tailed off this month.

Even with the drop this month he is still doing very well when you look at previous months of $552, $323 & $334 respectively.

This month though all of that is going to change as he tries to break the $1,500 barrier again, good luck sir!

#13) AvocadoPesto.com – $669.00 (-$958.00)

AvocadoPestoA big drop from Vicky (one half of ACoupleTravelers) this month in both earnings & traffic.

They had a record breaking month last month but seem to have hit a ceiling when it comes to traffic.

Have you considered compiling a recipe book for your readers as an income stream?

#14) INeedDiscipline.com – $652.04 (+$66.70)

MakeMoneyLessonsAfter a drop last month, Dean has managed to turn things around with a slight increase.

He realised in past reports he was slacking off and is now riding a new wave of motivation for his work.

Nice to see my site is a key traffic driver for him at the moment – earn a higher spot on this list and I’ll send you some more ^^

#15) ChaseToOneMillion.com – $526.62 (+$80.48)

Chase To One MillionTim is another newcomer to the list this month posting a small increase in profits.

His blog has shown healthy growth over the past few months and has managed to double his income in a couple of months.

Keep it coming – let’s see you off the bottom spot next month!

In Summary

We have seen some huge movement in the rankings this month seeing Matt @ TrueValHalla.com and Dave/Vicky @ ACoupleTravellers.com make some great profits.

But we have also seen huge month on month drops from Lindsay @ PinchOfYum.com, Kirsty @ NerdyNomad.com & Eric @ My4HrWorkWeek.com.

There has been a total of $43,416.99 earnt between all of the bloggers on this list, up by $1,469.13 from last months $41,947.86.

So while there have been a few heavy hits – as a team we are still looking good ^^

Good stuff, May is going to be a lot stronger but I’ll let you read the income report before I spoil the 5 digit surprise.

Products for AP make sense, unfortunately we’re too swamped right now to invest the time into something like that.

This is awesome. Thanks for opening my eyes to some more bloggers that I should be watching. By the way, Matthew, I found your blog through Tung Tran’s Cloud Living Journey. He also publishes an income report.

Haha you hit the spam filter – probably your email address, ip or website causing the problem.

Hit me up when you’ve published your 3rd report and you’ll be included!

I must have hit the spam filter too. You asked me to post the link, but my reply never showed up. My guess is that whatever spam filter you are using saw that I was trying to put a URL address in the comment field (which I wouldn’t have done unless you had specifically asked me to), and classified my reply as spam.

Regardless, I am happy to have found your blog, Matthew. Very inspirational. Keep up the great work!

Yeah, Tung’s doing really well lately. Your readers will like his niche site progress from last month to this month.

And I see him saying nice things about you all the time, Matt! lol =)

Anyways, I’m looking at these folks’ earnings going all over the place, and I’m just wondering how I’m going to react if I ever get to the point where my monthly earnings go from $6k to $3k like that. I think I would have panic attacks around the clock.

But I (unfortunately) have a long way to go before I have to worry about that. Boo hoo for me.

          Hi Chris,

He has also published his 3rd income report so expect to see him in the round up this month :)

Nice to see he is doing well! $3k is still a lot of money – plus its not like if you have a $6k month, you spend $6k ^^

  4. Yeison Kim

Congratulations to everyone ! Keep working hard, Hopefully with a lot of hard work I will be on this list someday.

Great job Matt ! I wish all the bloggers reach their goals next month.

    Pura vida :)

Will give you a call early next week lots to discuss ^^

  5. Deby at Moms Make Money

Great results here. Shows just how variable incomes can be from blogging, halving and doubling and jumping around all over the place.

Here’s my April figures to add to the list – http://moms-make-money.com/blog-income-revealed/

  7. Sita Gabriel

    Hi Matt,

I only can wish to earn that much. But anyway it’s good motivation for me to move on and grow my blog.

      Keep on hustlin’ Sita!

  8. Greg Nunan

Thanks for the mention Matt! Nothing like a few thousand eyeballs to keep you striving to improve! :-)

Couple of my sites had a little fight with a penguin recently so I look forward to sharing some of my experience in the coming months with regards to diversification, capitalising on updates and recovering any sites that got hit.

      May 31st, 2013 at 10:28 am

      Hi Greg,

Hahaha its a good motivator :)

If you can publish any data based analysis of sites that were hit vs not hit – that would do very well ;)

  9. Iain

Is it strange that the first thing that comes to mind when I read these round up reports is a linkbuilding opportunity.

Having said that, it looks like everyone is doing very well this month.

Matthew, I don’t know if you are going to be able to catch up to Tom.

What steps are you taking in order to take the lead?

    • Matthew Woodward
      May 31st, 2013 at 10:24 am

      Hi Iain,

      What opportunity do you see?

I’ll catch Tom no problemo! I’ve got my software launch coming up, some stuff no one knows about, the mega series and don’t forget, I’ve not even explored other traffic opportunitys other than posting on 3 forums so far :)

      • Iain
        June 2nd, 2013 at 11:21 am

I was going to say software would make perfect sense for you, but that is something you are working on.

        Other possibilities could be

        1. increase consulting fee
        2. do more reviews
        3. increase conversion rate
        4. increase traffic

        Those are just some thoughts.

          June 4th, 2013 at 12:05 pm

For the most part I’m focused on growing traffic/awareness – as you can see traffic is up but not in proportion to earnings.

Its a matter of time – the software itself has some interesting mechanics behind it, lets say you will have never seen a product launch/funnel like it before :)

  10. Gene Madondo

This is awesome stuff some more blogs to learn from. I can’t wait to see what you have got planned for the near future Matt, will be watching my email to see. I always come to this blog but this is the first time I am seeing this kind of income report, the last time I was here for an income report was when you still were doing just yours and aiming for $10k. Looking forward to your next post and thanks for sharing guys, I will be visiting each of those blogs to read the details.

      Hi Gene,

      Thanks very much!

My next income report is ready right now ^^

  11. Alex McDonald

Nice round up Matt, really is a great take on the whole income report explosion.

I have to agree though, that chart could use some simplification haha!

    • Matthew Woodward
      June 1st, 2013 at 3:28 pm

Thanks – how would you do the chart, bit stuck on that one =/

      • Alex McDonald
        June 1st, 2013 at 11:05 pm

I’m not exactly sure, I really wanted to suggest something in my last post, yet no ideas were coming to me. However, I do have one, yet it would require some nifty coding.

I was thinking that maybe you could have just your graph showing on the chart, and the list of blogs on the side, or at least viewable without scrolling; then have the chart update the curve and color when someone clicks a blog in the list.

        • Matthew Woodward
          June 4th, 2013 at 12:06 pm

At this point I should highlight I SUCK at coding ^^ The fact I made a pretty chart is victory enough :P

          • Alex McDonald
            June 4th, 2013 at 8:44 pm

Thinking about it, you could probably save an image of each graph and then just have the image update to the respective site’s graph when their name is clicked.

I’m not certain, though I doubt it’d cost too much to hire a coder to sort out an updating image. You’d need to speak to someone with a coding background though.

Random second thought; what about a slider like a standard homepage slider, except smaller, that automatically scrolls through images of each graph. Slideshow style.

These are just a couple of random ideas, no clue what they’d look like in practice.

          • Matthew Woodward
            June 10th, 2013 at 11:16 am

That sounds like a lot of hard work compared to copy/pasting a table ^^

I do however like the slider idea, I could put multiple graphs within that. Will have a play on the ole test server :)

  12. Quinton

    Dude! This is so cool!

I totally want to be included. Here is my latest income report, and I’ll definitely get it done early for June so you can add me to the list!
