Income Report Roundup – March 2014

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $14,829.04 (+$4,960.79)

Matthew WoodwardFor the first time ever I have come out on top of my own roundup!

I spent most of my time working on my new course but that didn’t stop the income from rising!

It will be interesting to see if that trend has continued as I have been distracted this month as well.

#2) MakingSenseofCents.com – $13,454.00 (+$814.00)

MakingSenseofCentsMichelle is a relevant new comer to the roundup but continues to grow!

She has done that this month in a couple of ways. First of all she took on 2 more paid writing jobs.

Secondly and most importantly she reached the point where she could increase her prices across the board – there is a lesson in that!

#3) PinchOfYum.com – $13,114.95 (-$4,621.02)

The food blogging duo are consistently placed in the tops spots, but have taken a knock this month.

This comes from having less advertiser budget made available to them due to the dreaded ad budget cycle. They have also seen revenue per thousand impressions drop to $7.95.

On the flip side they have been busy building some awesome tools & content for food bloggers – looking forward to that!

#4) GodOfSEO.co – $12,989.00 (-$8,154.00)

GodOfSEOCharles dominated the round up last month but has taken one of the biggest hits we have ever seen.

That is for good reason though – Charles was starting to get weighed down with client work so reduced the number of clients he worked with to focus on the most profitable.

He has also started to put together his own agency team to free up his time which has come at an initial cost.

#5) RatRaceGrad.com – $6,191.04 (+$3,486.27)

RatRaceGradLuck doesn’t exist – it is purely a product of when preparation meets opportunity. Jennifer is the perfect example of that.

She has had a great month not only seeing the sale of some of her websites, but also on her way to launching her first product by accident.

Jennifer has also done some interesting stuff with solo ads – I wonder how I could leverage solo ads on this blog?

#6) Moms-Make-Money.com – $5,352.62 (+$93.72)

MomsMakeMoneyThis time last year Deby earned $837.08 – this year is a different story though.

In fact she made more than that this month purely though selling sewing patterns online – awesome!

She has had a bad experience with a company called Mad Ads that ended up having her site infected with malware and removed from Google results.

#7) TrueValhalla.com – $2,914.00 (-$819.00)

TrueValhallaMatt’s income has declined for the second month running – but he has a plan!

He is busy working away on the 2nd edition of his book as well as growing income through the HTML5 games he has developed.

Matt is busy laying all of the ground work to make a big bang in the months to come through his blog, game development and establishing footholds with new technology.

#8) MyTanFeet.com – $1,608.79 (+$134.87)

MyTanFeetYeison & Samantha’s earnings continue to grow even though they spent 2 weeks visiting hotels, restaurants & getting surf lessons from a 7 time national champion.

They really do know how to fully embrace the blogging lifestyle! They even randomly bump into readers locally who used the blog to research their trip.

This month they are looking to break the $2,000 barrier – good luck guys!

#9) DumbPassiveIncome.com – $971.10 (-$436.58)

DumbPassiveIncomeThe third Matt in the income report round up has hit tough times this month.

Don’t let that fool you though – he has grown leaps and bounds in recent times and had a record month of income.

Unfortunately that comes with a record amount of expense but the profit seed has been planted for future harvest!

#10) MakeMoneyLessons.com – $721.05 (-$313.92)

MakeMoneyLessonsDean has had a frustrating month where things didn’t seem to go his way.

He had put a lot of effort into promoting a music event which got cancelled due to an issue with the venue and local authority.

This came at great cost as he spent less time on paid writing work. Next month will be different :)

#11 My4HrWorkWeek.com – $326.08 (-$22.49)

My4HrWorkWeekAll of Eric’s income is made up from truly passive sources meaning he has to do zero work to generate it.

He has spent the last couple of months on his new blogging project which is gaining traction quickly.

At some point in the future he plans to monetize that project but for the mean time he is just focused on building something awesome.

In Summary

Last month saw 2 of the main blogs I tracked stop publishing income reports which saw a huge hit to the overall numbers.

This month has also seen some huge income hits for some of the bigger blogs which hasn’t helped things.

Last month the blogs earned a combined total of $77,349.00 which has dropped this month to $72,471.64 =/

That is quite far away from the $90,000 target I was hoping we could hit collectively.

Although the common trend amongst the blogs that took big hits is they have spent time restructuring and planning things to help them grow.

Every blogger/business owners goes through this at some stage so the next few months should be an interesting ride!

Performance Tracking

I only include the earnings history of the top 10 blogs each month to make the graphs easy to read.

I am bringing on a partner who rounds off my skill set and will be introducing him soon. Hoping that 1 + 1= 3 or more.

He will be setting up Buzzbundle and implementing a tutorial series as well……

Thanks for the advice, I can’t believe how much traffic we achieved in such a short time!

I’m aware of my terrible load time due to the awful shared server I am still on. I’ve been procrastinating moving to a faster VPS, but plan to make that a priority this week now that I’ve seen somebody complain about it. Thanks for the kick in the b*** Mac!

Matt thanks for this wonderful share and for letting us peep into the world of affiliate marketing.

Happy you were able get to the top this month. I know you aren’t resting on your laurels so far and believe me it is worth emulating. Just wanted to ask if you think CPA is a veritable means to make money online.

    • Matthew Woodward
      April 1st, 2014 at 7:20 am

      Thanks :)

Well the majority of affiliate programs are CPA based – so yes :)

  11. Roxana

    That’s awesome, Matt! Huge congrats!
And you know what, everyone deserves support, I just love it when bloggers start making money doing what they love, which is blogging and promoting their personal brand.

I’m launching my own blog, finally got tired of partnerships and associates and just freelancing without a website to support me. I’ve settled for a couple of goals, might seem impossible for just the next 12 months, but it’s a challenge I’m keen on taking. :D

Meet you at the top, pretty soon!

p.s. The guys from Romania haven’t responded to that email, I’m gonna bust their a**** next time I see them face to face.

  13. Solomon Mwale

I would like to appreciate all the work that you putting in to prepare these reports that are so motivating and pushing people to take action in what ever they are doing online.

Appreciated greatly for all this great work.

No worrys :) They don’t take too long to do, I dread having to do my own income report though lol

  14. Jon

I wouldn’t call DPI Matt’s $971 ‘tough times’ to be perfectly honest! >.<

      April 2nd, 2014 at 1:11 pm

Look back through the previous round ups and you’ll see – I suppose I have a closer view as I’ve been watching/tracking everyone for 18 months

    • Matthew Allen
      April 6th, 2014 at 11:47 am

I don’t consider them tough times either. In fact, I justify my high monthly expenses within my February report mostly because I knew about this Roundup list and that Matt reports my net instead of my total gross earnings. My income continues to increase, but so do my expenses. I’ve been re-investing much of my earnings in order to grow my future Passive income streams.

        Keep planting the seeds mate

  15. Matthew Allen

Matt – Thanks again for including me here. I have to admit, I’ve always got this Roundup list in the back of my mind now and it continues to keep me motivated. You and others are doing so awesome online. I still can’t wait to move up on your list. I’m working on it!

Let’s see you do it next month :)

  16. Dan

    Wow! Friggin great going, Matt!

Last time I checked in on one of these roundups you were earning about $9000 less! Massive congrats bud, though you are putting a lot of people (read; me) to shame.

Anyhoo, back in April (man, I can’t believe it was a year ago. Even worse) I said to you to ‘mark my words’ that I would get in on this act, but that my finger was only half pulled out at times.

Well, after hooking up with prolific marketer toward to end of last year, he helped me out and I started to make things happen.

It took a little while to get things going, but now they are going in the direction I want them to go.

So…in a round about way of saying it, how do I get in on this act? :P

Congratulations mate :) Glad to hear all is going well for you.

To get published here you need to publish at least 3 consecutive income reports that detail what you have done in the month.

            Hi Matt,

That’s the way it’s been for recent months, but that’s not that way it’s going to be from now on.

I don’t plan on going to the length that you have with this blog just yet, but I will be documenting my progress, lessons learned, little tips etc as and when I feel it adds value.

          • Matthew Woodward
