Income Report Roundup – March 2013

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) PinchOfYum.com – $6,975.30 (+$1,228.40)

The Pinch Of Yum team had their biggest month to date last month and continue to build on their income claiming the top spot on the board for the first time! Although this might be due to the lack of DollarsAndRoses.com income report this month :P

The extra increase came from additional ad sales from BuySellAds as well as a flurry in activity from BlogHer – I might have to check those services out myself!

They are going to start diversifying their income streams by forming direct relationships with reputable brands, more details in their report!

#2) LeavingWorkBehind.com – $6,729.02 (-$143.52)

Although Tom is slightly down from last month he still managed to tag his time at $94 an hour!

On top of that he nearly doubled his affiliate income to $963 which means he has managed to similar amounts of money, working less hours.

Be interesting to see if Tom manages to push down that route further and post a record month next time round!

#3) TrueValhalla.com – $5,674.00 (+$3,921.00)

Matt posted a $1,220 drop last month to just $1,753 – but this month he has smashed it with a total earnings of $5,674!

There is a good reason for this, and that is because Matt is following his passion in HTMl5 games development.

He has released his own book and licenses a number of games all of which are bringing snowballing levels of income home!

#4) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $3695.59 (-$5,816.34)

Throwing myself in there I had a relatively poor month stacked up against the competiton with my income report.

I had predicted a heavy drop as I chose to ditch client/consultation work in order to focus my time on growing the blog.

Unfortunately that comes at the cost of upfront income but I’m looking at the bigger long term picture. My income report will reveal my next tutorial series, hopefully it will blow your mind :)

#5) ACoupleTravelers.com – $3132.00 (+$207.00)

A newcomer to the round up post Dave & Vicky run an awesome travel blog – I suggest you read their about page before the income report.

All of their income comes from advertising but I feel like these guys are missing a trick here and could certainly make the blog work much harder for them.

If you guys ever hit the UK or western Europe – give me a shout!

#6) NerdyNomad.com – $2,992.00 (-$2,006)

Kirsty has posted another big drop seeing her earnings steadily decline from $11,000 in October to $2,992 this month. Could be worse, I posted a $5,800 drop this month ^^

Although on paper it might not look like a good month, Kirsty has already begun the groundwork on a few things to turn things back around.

She has some potentially exciting and unique projects on her hands such as booking tourists for treks around the Congo! Sign me up!

#7) MoneyHomeBlog.com – $1,963.68 (-$19.98)

Another newcomer to the round up that I can’t actually introduce because he/she hasn’t included any sort of about me page :P

Most of the earnings are coming from Adsense which probably means you’re leaving an awful lot of money on the table!

You should spend some time improving the blog and making it more user friendly / personable :)

#8) My4HrWorkWeek.com – $1835.45 (+$2107.73)

Seeing another increase and setting another recording breaking month Eric is doing well at the moment!

What Eric does better than anyone else in this round up is diversify his income streams.

This guy is all over the place, with his fingers in loans, affiliate earnings, niche sites and article writing!

Time to focus on growing each one of them!

#9) SchoolOfPodcasting.com – $1,237.00 (-$677.96)

Daves laid back 2 day a week working schedule manages to earn him a respectable amount this month with a bit of a hit on the back end.

Income comes mostly from direct consultation and affiliate sales through his site.

I can’t help but think that with the right push his book could be driving a large proportion of his income every month though =\

#10) AvacadoPesto.com – $1,094.00 (-$166.00)

Our 3rd newcomer to the list which is actually run by Vicky from the A Couple Travellers blog above. As well as travelling the world she loves her food!

Her passion for food and travelling gives her a unique perspective and she publishes some mouth-watering content.

Great to see you foodies making a good crack at the blogging scene – just wish I didn’t lick my screen so often.

#11) HowIGotRich.net – $552.00 (+$229.00)

Joe has kicked off the month with some extra motivation by squeezing in an extra hour or work per day which has paid off.

I also spent some time on the phone with him this month to try and help him out a little and point him in the right direction.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Joe in the next couple of months – I know he has big plans!

#12) INeedDiscipline.com – $498.32 (-$75.14)

Dean Saliba is another newcomer (full of em this month huh?) to the roundup report and guess what, the first month featured he chose to slack off ^^

He has paid the price though with a decrease in visitors and traffic which has nearly halved since October looking at his past reports.

Looking at the keywords finding his site – there are some affiliate opportunities for him to capitalise on though!

#13) BitDoze.com – $407.32 (+$0.69)

Although Dragos made slightly more than last month it is still a considerable improvement than when he was at the $150 low point a few months back.

He wrote more posts this month which earnt him more traffic though! You just need to focus on converting that into subscribers.

He already has some big plans afoot to improve the blog though – next month will be interesting!

In Summary

Well I managed to find some new blogs to add into the mix and had to discontinue a couple of others that were late with their reports!

Its great to see that we have another couple of bloggers setting record months although overall performance is generally down.

I’ve spoken with a few people on this list and I know they have exciting things coming up in the near future, so grab a seat folks!

Performance Tracking

I decided to add these graphs last month so here it is again with the updates and newcomers plotted where possible!

  3. Financial Samurai

I’ll send you an e-mail later with a suggestion.

Quick question, I’m pretty much a wordpress newbie, how can I make a custom url like affiliatepage[dot]com/randomproduct=13whatever to redirect to mysite[dot]com/product ?

  5. Ogi

Matt, you should change your title, as these are actually income reports from February 2013, not from March 2013.

Anyway, February is shortest month and it was awful for many people, including me, so I don’t count it as some reference.

Well I always publish my income report for the month before on the 1st (eg on the 1st of April I will post March) but a lot of other people wait until the 25th.

Can publish a post with February in the title at the end of March :)

You certainly know how to pull a crowd Matt. Great post and looking forward to seeing it grow in the next few months.

Who knows – maybe incomerankings.com, forthcoming? Oh wait, maybe I should have saved that…

    Hey! Matt
    Awesome report! Truly inspiring.

One suggestion…Why don’t you add photo of the owners of those particular websites and it would also be better if you add snapshots of their websites too.

It will make this report look more interesting (Isn’t?)

    Keep up the good work!

    Hi Matthew

What plugin are you using for the most popular posts on your sidebar? It looks really cool…

This is our one from Red 7:

We had a massive group out there with barely any normal clothes, so we ranged from animals to oompa loompas – you might even have seen us?

His name is Nick and he was a complete liability – cannot take that man anywhere.

Did you see our Kasabian mosh pit? It got well out of hand…

I am actually in that picture and I remember you taking it now – how bizarre, how bizarre.

I think we’ve hijacked your site for long enough now – I’ll email you my Skype. ;)

Haha I worked that out – every group needs that guy though!

So which one are you in the picture?

Shame you missed the tweet – next year!

  10. Dave

Thanks for including acoupletravelers.com. Not sure if it should technically be combined with AvocadoPesto (BTW, small spelling error there), as we are one couple but I kind of like them being separate. We’re going to be in the UK in september and Western Europe this summer. Maybe before that we can pull up on skype – would be interested in hearing some of your ideas for our blog if you had any. Off to read your income report!

    • Matthew Woodward
      April 6th, 2013 at 4:28 pm

      No worrys Dave :)

Will fix the typo when I return home – but they are two different sites/niches so think they deserve seperate spots!

I’m actually touring eastern and western Europe across july-august, sod skype lets get beer :P

        April 6th, 2013 at 4:40 pm

Drop me a mail with dates and I’ll do the same – see if we criss cross anywhere!

  11. Iain

I really love these round ups of incomes reports.

They help to point out websites that I hadn’t heard about until just recently, so that is awesome. I am always on the lookout for great information.

I just hit this post first, but I have to check out your personal income reports.

    Keep em coming.

      April 6th, 2013 at 4:30 pm

Funnily enough, even though I write them – I enjoy reading them as well lol

Love seeing sites grow and this is a great way to track it all!

My income reports go in pretty deep ^^

        April 6th, 2013 at 5:10 pm

I imagine that they are fun to see grow and watch them prosper.

You should interview each of them and asking what’s working and what’s not.

Just a random thought. Then you could compose them into a resource page.

Look forward to the next report.

  13. Dan

Hey Matt, just found this blog through Joe’s How I Got Rich blog. I’m liking what I see and looking forward to having a mosey around.

This post makes for great reading. Its so good to read of peoples success and how they’re making good money online.

Though I have to confess it does have me feeling a little inadequate looking at both the earnings and traffic figures from some of these site. Some people are killing it!

      April 12th, 2013 at 9:38 am

      Hi Dan,

Hope the content keeps you busy :)

You should take those income reports as inspiration as to what is tangibly possible when you pull your finger out and dedicate yourself :)

I fit on both sides of the picture at the moment – working on it!

      • Dan
        April 12th, 2013 at 12:38 pm

Already seen a good few posts to put on my ‘to read’ list :)

They are indeed inspiring, and not just the earnings but the diverse niches that people are making good money in.

My finger is only half way out at times and I can definitely do better, but I’m going to keep pressing on nonetheless!

Looking forward to future reports like this. One day I’ll be joining this list when I can do it justice, mark my words!

          Hi Dan,

I love the fact someone is making money online selling a book about taking pictures of food. Fantastic world we live in!

Every single one of us can always do better. In fact the best advice I ever had came from an old man in a pub (I always ask for their #1 advice to a young guy) and he quite simply said just 2 words which were-

          Try harder

So I’m going to tell you, try harder :)

  14. Joe

Thanks for including my site on this list again!

I asked this question on another posts of your but I think my comment was flagged as spam so I will try again:

How did you make the horizontal in-content opt in forms that you used on this page? I’ve looked online for templates but none are in the same style.

      April 16th, 2013 at 7:14 am

      Hi Joe,

Keep publishing them and I’ll include you next month as well :P

Its just HTML? Field element with a submit box

        April 16th, 2013 at 8:49 am

I’ve already published my income report for March and hopefully I will have moved up a few spots!

That makes sense, will see if I can find out how it links up with Aweber.

        • Matthew Woodward
          April 16th, 2013 at 11:57 am

I just create the form, then generate the code from default form of Aweber, remove the styling and extract the hidden fields. Make sure the label/name of the name and submit fields/boxes matches and bobs your teapot!
