Income Report Roundup – January 2014

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

How to start a successful blog in 7 days

#1) PinchOfYum.com – $16,573.88 (+$5,761.12)

PinchOfYumWe saw the PinchOfYum team take a pretty big hit last month but this month they are back stronger than ever!

They continue to make strong sales through their food photography and cauliflower sauce recipe eBooks.

Great to see that even though earnings dropped from their main source of revenue they still pulled it back this month!

#2) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $16,400.92 (+$4,993.56)

Matthew WoodwardAfter a year long battle to break the $10,000 barrier with the blog – this happens!

I would have taken the number 1 position as well if it wasn’t for those pesky PinchOfYum guys!

It was an interesting month that saw the launch of my free software and my first time speaking at an event!

#3) GodOfSEO.co – $15,127.00 (+$3,814.00)

GodOfSEOCharles is firmly back in the driving seat after taking some time off last month.

He is continuing to build on the SEO and consultancy side of his business.

Nice to see he is start to diversify income streams with the launch of his own blog network as well!

#4) TrueValhalla.com – $14,704.00 (+$2,137.00)

TrueValhallaMatt nailed it last month with a $10k increase and has raised the bar again this month.

He spent some time pampering himself over a working holiday – well deserved!

He secured more license deals for his HTML5 games which has quickly become a great source of income.

#5) MakingSenseofCents.com – $12,160.00 (-$1,227.00)

MakingSenseofCentsMichelle only recently quit her job to pursue her online ambitions full time and its certainly paying off!

Her income comes from a variety of sources and she has revealed some big plans!

I quite like what she is doing with blog and social media management for people – I could do with something like that!

#6) LostCyclist.me – $10,428.56 (+$6,884.60)

LostCyclistQuinton also breaks the $10,000 barrier this month and has never earnt that much before!

He saw the biggest increase from affiliate sales on the build up to the holiday period.

The ironic thing is this was his biggest month, but also the month he worked the least.

#7) ACoupleTravelers.com – $6,048.00 (-$11,792.00)

ACoupleTravelersDave & Vicky been long time leaders of the income report roundup so it’s a shame to seem them drop this month.

The team have outlined their plans to build on their momentum this year.

Now they have settled down for a couple of months it will be interesting to see what they can produce without the distractions of daily travel.

#8) Moms-Make-Money.com – $4,014.14 (-$812.72)

MomsMakeMoneyDeby has showed steady progress in recent months but has seen a decent drop this month.

That’s no problem though as she is still earning more now than a few months back.

A lot of the projects she was working on and hoping to launch this month got delayed, lets see what she does next month!

#9) MakeMoneyOnlineHQ.com.au – $3285.02 (+$1,990.71)

MakeMoneyOnlineHQGreg took a big hit with Penguin not so long ago but has made a fantastic recovery!

Most of his earnings are driven from smaller niche sites and Adsense/affiliate earnings.

Although he is starting to look at building and flipping sites with the aim to generate $25,000 profit!

#10) RatRaceGrad.com – $2,166.12 (-$78.36)

RatRaceGradA newcomer to the income report roundup Jennifer finishes the year strong!

She is currently working on her online ventures in an effort to quit her full time job.

Over the past year she managed to earn 87% of her full time jobs salary online – so close :)

#11) MyTanFeet.com – $1,908.55 (+$1,276.07)

MyTanFeetYeison & Samantha also enter the round up for the first time this month with their travel blog!

They have spent the last 7 months building an awesome blog posting nearly every day without fail!

Last month saw the launch of a new blog design and they did very well in the latest PR update.

#12) MakeMoneyLessons.com – $1,027.67 (+$291.54)

MakeMoneyLessonsDean saw a huge drop off in income last months but has pulled back a positive trend.

He saw his biggest increases come from freelance writing which makes up the majority of his income.

Hopefully next month he puts a bit more effort into the income report :)

#13) AvocadoPesto.com – $1,005.00 (+$702.00)

AvocadoPestoVicky posts a nice increase from last month as the ACoupleTravelers team but a new focus onto the blog.

It’s great to see the site break the $1,000 barrier again and step back towards previous levels of income.

Let’s see what Vicky does now she is staying put for a little bit.

#14) DumbPassiveIncome.com – $822.85 (+$492.49)

DumbPassiveIncomeOur 3rd new entry this month is Matt from Dumb Passive Income.

His first month in the roundup also marks his highest earning month online so far – well done =D

He makes most of his money from affiliate sales and it will be interesting to see how he develops this year.

#15 My4HrWorkWeek.com – $291.07 (-$73.73)

My4HrWorkWeekEric has seen his best and worst months online over the past year.

A new year brings a fresh start with Eric who has finally unveiled the new site he has been working hard on.

It’s going to be a lot of work to pull off but you have to work hard to play hard right!?

#16) 87Studios.net – $255.40 (+$23.00)

87StudiosAfter a drop off last month the 87Studios team have managed to break their fall.

As long as they keep putting out great content they will turn it around in no time at all!

Although I think spending some more time on promotion might be wise :)

In Summary

There have been a declining number of blogs featured in the roundup recently so it’s great to add 3 newcomers to the rankings this month!

Last month the blogs earned a combined total of $88,628.18 falling just short of the $90,000 target.

However this month they have earned a total of $106,218.18 leaving the target in the dust.

This has also been the most competitive month by far with the top 6 blogs posting earnings of over $10,000 each!

Congratulations to the PinchOfYum team for taking the top spot! I thought I had a good chance this month as well :(

Quinton also did a cracking job smashing his previous targets and breaking the $10,000 barrier for the first time!

Do you think we can break the $120,000 barrier next month? There is only one way to find out!

Performance Tracking

I only include the earnings history of the top 10 blogs each month to make the graphs easy to read.

Thanks, as always, for including me in the roundup Matt!

Great job Matt, I’m also trying you’re no backlink technique, just started on one website,I know this is a hard journey but the google updates forced me to take this road and see where it gets me.

It’s awesome to see so many finishing the year on a high note. I really enjoyed following and “competing” against all of the blogs throughout 2013, and I hope everyone’s success continues and grows throughout the new year!

I love it how you simultaneously congratulate and kick the bloggers in the b***. IT’s motivating.

Congrats to those pinchofyum dudes for consistently raising the bar.

    Here’s to a friggin insane 2014.

      February 1st, 2014 at 11:07 am

I just call it how I see it, but I suppose as bloggers we lack peer reviews/feedback from our bosses in what we do =\

PinchOfYum have been consistently awesome I agree!

  6. Tarun Singh

Interesting stats :) May you earn double next month ! Thanks for giving me inspiration :)

Terrific results for most members, this serves as an inspiration to us aspiring bloggers, I continue to offer value and leverage, I only built my blog in December and I always seek new ways to help out my niche area, I have gained a few subscribers and the traffic is starting to trickle through ;)Congratulations to all concerned.

Perhaps you’ll be featured up there in the near future huh :)

  9. MIchael Bely

Matt, it’s nice to see the progress of guys and girls. And IMO it would be much more substantial information rather than simply motivational if it is broken down into income sources, like e.g. Pat Flynn does :)

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 1st, 2014 at 11:04 am

Each of the income reports are broken down like that if you click into them.

And today thanks to our friends (Woody and Andrea ) advice, and patience, we are here, learning more everyday.

Thank you to every one and now our new goal is be on the top 5 within the next 5 months :)

  13. Gurjit Singh Khehra

G**! How in the H*** these people are making that much money? Congrats Matt. And I am getting jealous of ‘Lindsay’. How can a food blog even compete with a marketing blog? I didn’t know that food niche has that much potential on the internet.

    • Matthew Woodward
      February 1st, 2014 at 11:02 am

Don’t get jelous get inspired :)

They can compete because food is their passion.

        February 1st, 2014 at 4:45 pm

I love my food yo! Haha! There’s no hustling involved, no frustrations, no time spent testing etc etc etc! LoL Its’ just a simple case of eating and being satisfied!

Jokes aside, there’s probably a much higher percentage of readers for a food blog then there is for Internet Marketing, just my two cents…

        • Matthew Woodward
          February 2nd, 2014 at 7:25 pm

Very true, I suppose pretty much everyone likes food – you just have to find an angle. I know a food blog that did really well by publishing quick easy recipes for single men.
