Income Report Roundup – August 2015

One of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) PinchOfYum.com – $43,736.59 (+$10,764.84)

PinchOfYumIt’s been another great month for Lindsay & Bjork as they break new records with their income!

That said they’ve decided not to focus so much on their income totals any more, instead shining more light on where and how they’re creating an income on the blog.

They’ve also had an interesting challenge this month, translating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to a couple of chinese sites that were replicating their Food Blogger Pro blog!

#2) MatthewWoodward.co.uk – $35,209.35 (+$20,223.42)

Matthew WoodwardDespite still having troubles with internet access this month has been the biggest earning month for the blog ever!

After not creating any new videos for some time this month saw me create a total of 7, while also dialling down posts to a total of 5 (besides the regular features) compared to 9 last month.

It’s been an interesting month as I’ve set up a number of experiments to see what works best for conversion rates, I took part in an AmA for inbound.org, took on my first consultation client in a very long time and finally set up an Instagram account!

#3) MakingSenseOfCents.com – $23,038.00 (-$433.00)

MakingSenseofCentsIt’s Michelle’s 4 year blogiversary this month leading her to reflect on how much has changed since she first started blogging!

She’s noticed that even though her income is increasing she’s actually been working less as she masters that all important work/life balance.

Recently Michelle successfully increased her freelance writing rates to an amount that she says she never thought would be accepted just a few years ago, which serves as a firm reminder not to under-value your services!

#4) JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com – $15,927.00 (-$5,914.00)

JustAGirlAndHerBlogNew to lineup this month is Abby reporting a loss for what was actually one of her best months on the blog so far!

A product launch last month which resulted in her best month ever for earnings meant that a drop in earnings this month was inevitable.

She was able to take some time off to travel and speak at The Haven Blogging Conference in Atlanta thanks to a group of guest posters who took over content creation for a while, and also featured as a guest on Entrepreneur On Fire’s business podcast!

#5) AuthorityWebsiteIncome.com – $12,019.00 (-$2,974.00)

AuthorityWebsiteIncomeJon has seen some of his key goals for 2015 move steadily forward this month.

Although he hasn’t seen an immediate return on his increased efforts he believes that the changes he has made will pay off in time.

He got back to building his online business this month after a busy period at work and enjoyed a healthy work life balance fitting in a 3 day canoe trip, a batchelor party and lots of quality time with the family!

#6) CubicleHoudini.com – $11,459.00 (+$899.00)

cubiclehoudiniQuinton has been neck deep in training this month as he learns all about paid advertising.

He hasn’t made a profit from it yet but his main focus at the moment is running campaigns every week and learning as he goes.

He’s looking forward to mastering the method and enjoying a nice stream of income that is independent of Google.

After spending a lot of July looking at Domain Authority Stacking he has come to the decision that although he has learned a lot, the key is sticking to what you know and allowing the basics to work their magic.

#7) MyTanFeet.com – $7,415.25 (+$2,183.61)

MyTanFeetThis is Yeison & Samantha’s first report from their new location in Jaco Beach and the third month in a row that they have set a new record!

They’ve had a busy month fitting in a 10 day visit from Sam’s parents, beach hopping, horse riding, hiking, ziplining and a day at the hot springs, while writing 10 new articles and optimising their previous ones.

Yeison bought a new drone and plans to make a detailed review after a few more flights, they passed the 2k likes barrier on Facebook and the pair are now working on launching a dedicated website for making sales!

#8) NicheSiteAzon.com – $7,409.71 (+$2,364.43)

nichesiteazon1Last months newcomer Mike has had another record-breaking month both for total income and amazon income!

He reports that it’s not all good news though as it seems that his sites may have taken a hit from the latest Google Panda update.

Although excited about the growth he is aware that the impact of this will likely mean it won’t be sustainable for next month and predicts a significant impact on his Amazon earnings in August.

#9) DigitalNomadWannabe.com – $4,730.00 (+$129.00)

digitalnomadSharon has been having a busy time this month and reveals her hardest task to date as a digital nomad – tax returns!

This month they explored Lithuania, Poland, England and Paris. They have also switched to using their own virtual server for hosting which she says is cheaper and gives them full control.

Her site Where’s Sharon made the 100,000 pageviews mark and she’s excited to be reporting that all of her income this month was made through her sites with zero freelancing. In fact, she says she has barely worked through the majority of July!

#10) DumbPassiveIncome.com – $3,313.05 (+$1,624.05)

DumbPassiveIncomeReporting another healthy increase in profit with his best month so far Matt has also found time to enjoy the summer.

He spent some quality time enjoying the beach and a 24 hour stint in the woods testing his survival skills with his family while also achieving his best month ever for affiliate sales!

He plans to focus on ranking his niche sites better in future in an effort to make earnings sky-rocket and is excited to report that with very little income coming from his Amazon product sales, almost all of it is passive from things he has done with his websites!

#11) MissBiziBee.com – $3,300.69 (+$1,203.82)

bizziIt’s a record breaking month on all fronts for Kaitlin as she tops her previous records for Traffic, Etsy income and her Amazon Affiliate earnings too!

With a 21% increase in unique visits and an increase in Etsy sales she is aware that although there is room to grow it will become more difficult to do so with Etsy as a one-woman operation.

She’s very excited to report a growth in Amazon affiliate earnings which she believes will be a more scalable income stream that conveniently has much lower expenses and requires much less time spent on it!

#12) TrueValhalla.com – $2,948.00 (-$1,489.00)

TrueValhallaMatt’s decision to reduce his workload is reflected this month but he’s feeling good about how the month went!

Reflecting on his income reports he could see why he was burnt out and took some much needed rest and recuperation time, only working 12/31 days this month for a total of 78 hours.

Not surprisingly he’s had the worst month of the year so far for profits but isn’t worried financially and plans to keep a slower pace for the rest of the year, taking care not to get distracted from his main income sources.

#13) FreeYouNow.com – $2,290.01 (-$108.54)

freeyounowAnother small decrease in profit this month for Paul who has launched a second niche blog.

Realising that publishing a post every day was too much for his readers to take in, he decided to continue the trend but split the posts across the two blogs. This resulted in 32 blog posts this month between the two!

His goals completed this month include relaunching his niche blog and starting to publish videos on its YouTube channel, continuing to blog daily and finishing the first 6 lessons for his Empower Network team site.

#14) IncomeMesh.com – $813.76 (+$663.50)

incomemeshIt’s been the best month for income so far for Drazen and he is looking forward to reaching his goal of $1000 per month!

This month saw a new income source from consulting and he announced that he will soon be offering consulting services on the site officially.

The site is currently in the process of being redesigned and he hopes to have it complete by the end of August.

While Facebook continues to be the best social media channel for him he admits that he spends very little time on any others and reminds readers that a wider reach would be a smarter approach.

#15) OneHourProfessor.com – $696.94 (-$801.34)

ohpRon is happy to report another good month having ticked off all of his goals for July.

He has completed the main content for his authority website experiment with an eBook underway and plans to unveil it by the end of August.

His plans for the coming month include continuing with his his freelancing gigs, completing his eBook, disclosing his website experiment and focusing more on sharing his content.

In Summary

With only one newcomer to the lineup and two dropouts it’s amazing to see that this has been the biggest month for combined earnings yet!

The income of all the sites featured has risen from $129,425.59 last month to a grand total of $174,306.35 this month, another huge increase of nearly $45,000!

That is the biggest amount of income we have ever seen in the round up!

It’s great to follow all the ups and downs of each individual story as there’s so much we can learn from the mistakes and successes of others.

If you feel inspired to start your own blog then why don’t you start a blog now? It only takes a few minutes!

Performance Tracking

I only include the earnings history of the top 10 blogs each month to make the graphs easy to read.

I’m having a problem with the graph right now and will update the post when fixed

July was an exceptional month for me – and apparently it was for a bunch of the rest of you too! Great stuff man!

And thanks Matt for publishing this excellent roundups month after month and including me. This really helps keep me motivated. I admit, there have been a few months where I didn’t even want to write and publish my income report – but I knew I had to for it to be included here.

  6. Munir Nathoo

I can still remember when you were trying to break the $10K barrier last year.

I must say it was quite exciting to see you trying month after month to reach your goal.

But now you’re at $35K! And even that, with less content! It’s getting a little boring now! LoL!

Well done to you Matt and the rest of the featured blog owners! Very impressive!

Thanks Munir – although I think this month was mainly down to good timing – now the trick is to try and make it consistent which is much harder :)

Well I hope you comment more often instead of hiding :P

  13. Foodie Lover

WOW! Very impressive to see a food blog having the highest income out of all of these blogs.

Also a very solid income on your part Matthew, great job!

When did you start publishing income reports? I’m assuming the site was created in 2011 but when was your first income report published?

  14. Matthew Woodward

Unfortunately that kind of traffic is very low quality traffic that I think you will have a hard time converting into profit.

Instead I would focus on converting those people into email subscribers through a content upgrade of some kind.

  15. Anoosh

I’ve visited your site a couple times but never really noticed the income reports.

Pretty cool idea here to compile a bunch of people in the niche. People had their ups and downs, but Pinchof Yum completely killed it.

    Great stuff!

    • Matthew Woodward
      September 11th, 2015 at 1:30 pm

Yeah they always kill it, you can learn a lot from those guys – I have great admiration for them both!

  16. Untemplater

Hi guys, sorry I was late and missed the cutoff for this roundup. It was all my fault for bad time management. But I did get my site redesigned! :)

Here’s the link to my July report (http://untemplater.com/business/entrepreneurship/income-report-july-2015/) and I’ve got my August report coming out on the 14th.

Glad to see another solid group in this roundup. You guys help keep me motivated to try harder!

Some serious cash being made here :) Our first goal is to just hit a few dollars a day, to make it seem like theres happening something all the time!

Always fun reading your monthly round up :)

    • Matthew Woodward
      September 14th, 2015 at 10:05 am

Your first goal should be 1 subscriber per day not $1 per day

  18. DIYBlogGuy

Pinch of Yum are killing it Matt, you’ve got some catching to do. Any plans to move into a foodie niche anything soon ;-)

Thanks for providing these gems of wisdom every month. It’s appreciated.

I enjoy eating food too much to turn it into work :)

  19. Esteban Pau

This is awesome! I find myself on your website a lot lately and I just saw this roundup of income reports!
I also just started out in affiliate marketing and I hope to be as successful as some people here.
I’ve been at it for 3.5 months now. I would also like to share my income reports if that’s ok. Of course they are no where near the amount of earnings here but it’s still something :)
I would be honored to be part of this group!

    Thanks and kind regards,

    • Matthew Woodward
      September 14th, 2015 at 10:01 am

I am happy to include you here, have you published 3 consecutive reports?

      • Esteban
        September 16th, 2015 at 1:01 am

I have just posted my third report actually. As I mentioned before I’m just starting out so I might not be as impressive as the rest but it gives me motivation :)
Thanks for the quick reply by the way!

What are your thoughts?
