We’ve all seen it time and time again, epic content ranking for awesome search terms.

How does it get there?

Great content and promotion play a big part when trying to bring in the top spots now. Social sharing, natural backlinks. After all, this is what google wants to see right?

What about those of us who want to rank Amazon, Adsense or any type of affiliate website for that matter?

The natural backlinks don’t come easy and in most cases they don’t come at all. Would you link to a site like that?

Probably not because chances are you haven’t even heard of it. The truth is sites like that are made to collect commissions and that’s it… Rank and Bank.

This is one of the methods I use to make an income, the 3 step income method involves keyword research, a website and backlink building.

The 3rd step can be the hardest, building links and ranking on the first page.

So let me introduce you to a simple link building method that’s perfect for these little sites.

My Web 2.0 Sites Private Blog Network Results

After many late nights and energy drinks, I’ve pumped out some great results by using web 2.0 sites to build a private blog network.

This all came down to testing and tweaking this method until I found my own sweet spot. I was shown this strategy from a buddy of mine and it works really well for both of us.

This one here is a fresh two week old page that I used for a recent test (more on that test soon).

I’ve already seen some great results considering the competition is pretty strong.

What about some bigger search terms?

This is an old keyword I no longer track, it now sits pretty at 3rd. Here is my last recording from last year, ranked with nothing more than expired web 2.0s.

ranking report

So What’s This All About?

I’m talking about building a high authority expired web 2.0 network to your money site.

high pr backlinks

I buy or scrape expired sites like the ones in the image then point them to my main websites.

Sounds good right?… juiced up web 2.0s ready to go.

We have some great advantages when doing this…

  • They already have natural backlinks
  • They are aged
  • Have good page authority, usually 30+
  • Ready to drop links and send juice

If I was to build a fresh network it would take some time before the power started to kick in. I would have to use something like this gsa search engine ranker tutorial to power them up.

You can expect an increase in rankings within 24 hours sometimes. It really is instant clean juice right to your website.

Although not as strong, this is just like a private blog network but with web 2.0 blogs that are free to use with full control over your links.

How To Build Your Deadly Web 2.0 Private Blog Network

When starting a new network I base my start point on a standard number of expired blogs. I start with 24 then let it sit for two weeks once finished to see the full impact.

Sometimes more is needed or that could be enough to get me what I want. I use loads of Tumblr blogs and that’s because I can set up so many in a short amount of time.

You should be able to get yourself stable on the second page with ease. The first page is also very possible depending on the competition.

Let’s get this bad boy started.

Step One: Finding The Expired Blogs

This really comes down to how much time you have. When I first started I would purchase them but of course, there are some advantages to this and some disadvantages.

Buying them can be good to save time, you can pay the seller extra to get them all signed up for you ready to go. The disadvantage is you don’t really have control over what you get sent…. The quality isn’t always the best.

When buying you can use websites likes Source Market or Fiverr. Something like this works great.

expired tumblr

Not many people sell Weebly or Over-blog.com.

However, if you ask them to do a custom scrape for you, they usually will.

There is also a seller on Affiliate Hustle who sells all 3 if you ask him.

Scraping Them Yourself

This is by far the best way however, it takes the longest. If you don’t have time to sort through them when done this might not be the best option.

But you can expect to find gems like this….

What You Need To Scrape Them Yourself

I use Scrapebox so I’ll give you a rundown on the process I go through to find nice juicy expired blogs.

Just use the default settings to start with, they work fine when starting out.

First you need to gather some proxies, it’s important to use private proxies to get the best results. Go with 10 and load them into the proxy section. Click “Use Proxies” if it’s not checked already.

You will need to upload some keywords. You can find some general large keyword list online by doing a Google search or give this old 100k list a try. Scrapebox also has an in-house scraper if you want to scrape some keywords right from the software.

In the top custom footprint bar is where you enter the site you want to scrape, For example, I’ve entered “site:tumblr.com”

Next Click “Start Harvesting”.

east_vps-3

When the harvester pops up choose the engines you would like to use from the left. The ones I’ve ticked below work great.

At the bottom double check that you are using server proxies, you want to save your own proxies for the next steps.

east_vps2

Now start harvesting, I leave mine going for 24 hours and that’s enough time to collect a large amount of URLs.

Once the harvest is done you should have millions of URLs, it’s time to trim things down.

First you want to click “Trim” and a drop down menu will show up then click “Trim To Root”

The same goes for removing duplicates, click “Remove\Filter” then “Remove Duplicates”.

Now in the top menu click “Addons” Then “Show Available Addons”. You want to install “Scrapebox Alive Check” then open it up.

east_vps3-1

You should now see the alive checker window popup.

You can then import the URLs from the harvester in the bottom left corner. Also, make sure you tick “Use Proxies” because now we need our private proxies to keep things running smooth.

The last thing to do is click “Setup” and delete whatever’s in there then enter “404”. Now click “Ok” then “Start”

easy vps 4

Once finished click “Export” on the bottom right then “Save All Alive To Harvester”.

easy vps 2

You should have a list of expired web 2.0s you can use as backlinks to your websites. There is one more step and that’s finding the most powerful ones. I do this by checking the Page Rank.

As we know Page Rank is dead now but it’s still a good filtering system. The higher the page rank the older they are and the chance of finding ones with awesome backlinks is higher.

Click “Check Pagerank” then “Check URL Pagerank”

Once you have done that you can then export them to a text file by clicking “Export URL List”

checking tumblrs urls

You should have a decent list of URLs to go through once done. It’s time to sort through them and find the available ones.

Step Two: Claiming Those Gems

Before we get into this, not every Tumblr is going to be free. Scrapebox checks for 404s however, most of the time Tumblr still won’t let you sign up to them.

There is really no way around this unless you create or find a bot that checks real 404s. Scrapebox is good but it does lack in this department.

Find yourself a website that checks Page Authority. I go with 99Webtools, because it can check 50 at a time for us.

You might need to grab yourself some extra e-mail addresses to register the blog if you don’t have any already. I purchased 1000 from these guys about 6 months ago and I still have plenty left.

This next step is very important!

You should use a different IP each time you sign up a new account.

You can stretch it out to 3 accounts per IP max, if you use the same IP to sign up a large amount of Tumblr blogs they will soon start banning them.

I’ve made this mistake before, I got lazy made 10+ accounts then when I checked them a month later they were all gone.

You can use a program called Private Internet Access for VPN access, so you can change IP with the click of a button.

Once you have a VPN setup, open up Tumblr and have your URLs ready in the page authority checker. All you need to do now is take the username and try to sign up with it.

Keep doing this until you find the free accounts.

Sign_up___Tumblr

Step Three: Dropping The Web 2.0 Backlinks

This is by far the easiest part, this is why expired web 2.0 network builders like to use Tumblr to drop links to their money sites.

You don’t need fancy articles, all you need is a picture and a few lines of text. Tumblr is an image platform so it makes sense just to roll with it.

expired tumblr blog

Easy right?

Just like that, web 2.0 backlinks are created in seconds, sure it takes a while to scrape them but it’s worth it!

If you want to buy them then that’s fine they work just as well, you will usually need more of them to get more juice that’s all.

The only other thing I do is upload an avatar and I might change the themes on some of them every now and then.

When it comes to the Weebly or Over-blog.com blogs you will need to upload an article, this is why I don’t do as many when starting out. I want to see what the Tumblr’s will do first.

Step Four: Keyword Ratios

Branding plays a decent part in ranking now so getting the right ratios can make or break your rankings. I’ve had rankings drop off the radar within 24 hours just because I used my exact match keyword 1 to many times.

I use the expired web 2.0 networks for branding and keyword variations. I save the big pushes with exact match keywords for my private blog network with strong domains if I need to.

What I typically do is sort my expired web2.0s from weakest to strongest. I’ll use the weak ones for naked URLs and branding anchor text, with the stronger ones I’ll use keyword variations.

I head over to LSI Graph to get some variations to use.

To finish it off for good measure I’ll add a few exact match anchor text on my strongest web 2.0s just in case Google wants to give it that extra push for me.

And that’s how you create an epic web 2.0 network…. It’s not over yet though, there are some issues to address.

What Have Tumblr And Weebly Changed Recently?

Nothing really…..

They have changed a few things over the last few months or so but it hasn’t had any negative effects. In reality, it become a blessing in disguise making it easier to find better blogs

Let’s start with Weebly and the “we won’t index you saga”.

weebly index

As you could imagine this became a problem, Weebly is telling us our free account won’t index the blog.

This is really just a good business move on their part forcing free users onto a paid account, well……

We can force things as well!

All we need to do is run a force index with the Google Url Submitter, this ignores the robots.txt and crawls the site anyway.

add url

Tumblr’s Sneaky Little Redirects

This recently just happened over a month ago and now a lot of network builders have come to the conclusion that Tumblr is useless for link building.

Instead of just linking out to your money site link, Tumblr has a new redirect in place like this href=”http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z” + your URL.

I just had to test this for myself to see if the juice still flowed, after all Tumblr plays a big part in this strategy.

Two weeks ago I ran a test with 42 expired Tumblr blogs and these are the results…

results

This was a fresh page so these jumps are very good especially the bottom one.

Then a week later the rankings have increased even more. You might notice these from the start of this article, the bottom keyword is sitting at 16 with a keyword competition of 41… not bad at all.

new ranks

So, Tumblr still passes juice and Weebly will still index. Everything is all good!

Why Do These Work So Well?

This really comes down to age and the backlinks they have.

You build private blog networks with expired domains because they’re aged with backlinks, It’s the same concept.

In most SEO campaigns you will find web 2.0s being used and for good reasons. They work for all types of scenarios like diversity or pushing ranks.

The difference when using new ones is they’re fresh and take time to power up with the other tiered links you need to build to them.

Using expired web 2.0s to get me stable on the second page for my keywords then pushing them the rest of the way with my own personal private blog network works really well.

web 2.0 backlink strategy

Remember, Google want’s to see that Authority.

Wrapping It Up

If you want a quick and easy way to grab some good web 2.0 backlinks then buying Tumblr’s and throwing up those links is a fast way to do it.

You can build massive private blog networks with web 2.0 sites ready for links to existing or new websites you might create.

It’s up to you if you want to use these web 2.0s for one site or multiple sites. I link out to 2-4 websites max so I don’t have too many outbound links spreading the juice around.

When scraping the sub domains this video from Dillon who has helped me a lot in the past with this will explain the scraping if you have trouble or you prefer videos.

You don’t need to limit yourself to the web 2.0 sites mentioned above, that’s just what I prefer to use. There are many footprints you can input into the scraper to build your own private blog network.

Feel free to leave any questions in the comments below and I’ll see you at the top of Google!

No worries definitely give it a go. You will see some nice improvements once you have a decent amount o expired web 2.0s pointing to your main money site.

        Hey Franklin – great stuff!
I did a bunch of tumblrs a few days ago. Unfortunately I did the lazy version :-( I put 20 tumblrs on one account on 10 on another.. Regrets… Do you know if there is a way to export the blogs to new accounts? – so I can right my wrongs…

  2. 2.23.2016

Great guide Franklin, I was thinking about the Tumblr new redirects the other day and came across your blog and the post you made about it.

I was pretty glad to see you had already done some testing as I have a ton of Tumblr sites I had gathered and wanted to use them – so I will be putting them to good use.

Thanks for doing the research on this I’m glad they still work as web 2.0’s re a great way to build a “cheaper” PBN.

Great article Matt and Franklin, I have been following you guys very closely and to that weebly thing yeah that not indexing made me worry a little. That Google add URL uses the webmaster to index the links do you suggest to use them on main account or create a dummy one and use that.
Also I used a premium indexer to check if weebly getting indexed or not but I got no results. Let’s see if it get indexed soon.

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:34 pm

Make sure you use the “site:” command in google to check indexing. That’s the only way to see if it’s truly indexed :).

Nice post, I use this strategy too. For scraping I use domain hunter gatherer, it works very well and save some time. I found a lot 40+ PA tumblrs with it. Good news is with weeblys I stopped scrapin them and with your little trick…..Thanks! I’m going to scrape some weeblys! Just a question… Do you have a list of Web 2.0 which moved to nofollow links from their site?

  6. 2.24.2016

How long do you think these methods will be viable?

    Hi Matthew, nice post.

    [[sorry for my English]]

I wonder about some noob questions:

    1. If you only use tumblr subdomains, you are linking only from tumblr. Is that a problem?
    2. Do you only link from tumblr and weebly or use other web 2.0?
    3. When you look for the other web 2.0, do you use the same footprint (site:domain.com) or another?
    4. For example, for weebly do you use site:weebly.com?

And now i have a question that breaks my head…

    5. Do you still use GSA? Which is your favorite technique for linkbuilding today? (please don’t take into account the seriousness of the project, just think, for example, you wanna rank an Amazon affiliate microniche, specially long tails that start with “buy” or “best”)

    Thank you!!!

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:38 pm

      Hey,

      1. It wouldn’t be a good idea to just use Tumblr that’s why I use the other two as well. You can also use other web 2.0s those are just the ones I use the most.

      2. You can use others.

      3. yea you use the url as the footprint when scraping.

      5. Don’t use GSA on your money site. Use them for juice up buffer sites like web 2.0s. The point of this expired method though is to just use the already juiced up web 2.0s

  8. 2.24.2016

Probably not a good idea to links web 2.0s. Some people do it but I’ve never seen any reason to.

  10. 2.25.2016

Why do you only use tumblr, weebly and over-blog? What about other Web 2.0 platforms?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:44 pm

Tumblr because It’s easy to just drop a link (don’t need articles) and the others because they take the least time for me to find good ones.

  15. 2.25.2016

    Informative one Franklin,
I am surprised how you can get good heck of gems using sites like fiverr. I am yet to try anything grey or black hat (I have till now only banked on white hat simple power of content) but I think its time to give it a rolling baby.

    Thanks.

    2.25.2016

Good guide. My question is with the force crawling the Weebly pages. This means you would need to create a new GMail account for every Weebly (Im assuming the obvious here and say this should not be the same GMail address as you have the money site WMTools on)?
    Thanks

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:47 pm

I don’t create one for every Weebly. To be honest I’m pretty lazy when it comes to that.Hhowever I’ve never had any issues. Google generally don’t go chasing around people who have web 2.0s networks. A web 2.0 is just a sub domain from the main site so it’s a lot different than linking from a pbn domain.

  17. Nathan
    2.25.2016

    Hey Matthew! Great article man!

I’ve come from Franklin blog, and I’m using this strategy for the last month. I’ve ranked a keyword with competition of 14 on the 4th place of google in one month.

This page which i”ve ranked is my homepage. I’m trying to rank other for pages for the same site… They should be the same difficult to rank or the home is easier??

Franklin also wrote in his blog that he starts with 10 tumblrs and wait for 2 weeks… You start with 24 tumblrs, is it safe??

    Thanks man! Aewsome work here!!

Well, Franklin wrote this as well :)

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:50 pm

The home page is no different to any of the other pages, it depends on what you are trying to rank. if you have your homepage at 4th then I would now look at trying to rank your other pages and try some interlinking to get the juice running through the site. Do you have your homepage as an actual post? I usually put my hardest keywords on a large article on the homepage for my affiliate websites.

  18. 2.25.2016

Nice Article and thank you for that. But I would respectfully disagree with just putting a few lines on web 2.0 and linking out. I suggest putting atleast a 500 word article so that tumblr won’t ban you. Also, What about getting them indexed faster? Any tip?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:51 pm

It’s really a waste of time putting a 500 word articles on Tumblr since it’s an image platform. I was only referring to Tumblr for that. Any other web 2.0s I use articles.

  19. 2.25.2016

As usual, you dropped yet another epic article. Boys at webprofits (aus) mentioned you as one of the top cats to follow his blog, glad i did

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:53 pm

Depends on my mood, If I’m lazy I just do 1 article and see where that puts me. Sometimes I will do two articles first then 2 weeks later place another article with the link. There is no wrong way or right way it all depends on your project.

I use this method on my own blog and rank for some nice terms so yeah it works ;). I wouldn’t say you could rank any post because it always depends on a lot of factors. However, I’ve had good success with it on my own.

    Hey ,

Thanks for your very informational post…

How many Tumblr blogs required to rank a site which has a keyword difficulty of 25 in LTP according to you? And to how many money sites I can link 1 tumblr blog ?

    THanks

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 4:58 pm

No idea how many tumblrs you would need for a 25 because it depends on so many other factors. You can use a Tumblr to link to multiple sites if you like but I usually do a network per sites.

  31. 2.25.2016

    Just a quick question:
Is it ok if we put our site link on number of Tumblr different blog. Because it is not going to increase referring domains in Backlinks.
    Is it effective?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:00 pm

Tumblr is a reblogging service and some websites get million of backlinks from Tumblr alone and it works out great for them. It’s all about how powerful the specific Tumblr blog is that you’re link is on.

  32. Alex
    2.25.2016

Any suggestions on what thew tumblr should look like, I mean do you just stick a relevant article on with a link? What type of link, does it matter. How many from each tumblr? does it need to be at home page on tumblr or can you do other posts with other links? Can you scrape for weebly with scrapebox had it long time ago and might jump in again?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:02 pm

I don’t put articles on the tumblrs since it’s an image platform. I put an image with a few lines of text, an avatar and I sometimes change the theme. Not sure what you mean by what type of link sorry. You can scrape any web 2.0 with scrapebox. All links should be on the homepage if the power is there etc.

  33. 2.25.2016

Mintilihir (awesome)! Thank you Franklin, I will try it!

  34. 2.25.2016

How many links we can give from one tumbler site to our money site?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:03 pm

There is really no limit and it comes down to testing. I only do 4 max.

  35. 2.25.2016

wow. this was so nice !

sounds a very legitimate idea to me..
    Thanks a lottt !!

Hey Franklin, thanks for the great guide…

“All we need to do is run a force index with the Google Url Submitter, this ignores the robots.txt and crawls the site anyway.”

Are you creating a new Google account to sign in with when submitting the Weebly Url? A new account for every new Url?

    Thanks

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:06 pm

I don’t use a separate account per Weebly I don’t really see the need to as I’ve never had any issues. I’ve even used my money site account before on an old site I’ve had up for a long time now with no issues. All it’s doing is telling google to crawl a site, I’ve never seen any evidence of Google using that to penalise sites etc.

  38. 2.25.2016

Great guide, would love to try this. Currently I am in the middle of your PBN course at marketerseal.com. Bit confused, should i buy scrapebox and try this simultaneously or concentrate on PBN first. Please advice.

    • March 1st, 2016 at 2:54 pm

Don’t get distracted, but you can certainly use both in conjunction with each other :)

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:08 pm

Hey Ashish, like Matt said don’t get distracted. I also use PBNs to push my sites to the top giving them that extra boost. I use this web 2.0 method and I use PBNs to give them that final push. PBNs are a very important part of ranking websites at the moment because they work so well.

  39. 2.25.2016

Pretty cool guide I was wondering if these were still effective :)

    Fantastic actionable article.

    Scrapebox running.

    Questions:

    – “You should use a different IP each time you sign up a new account.”

Do I need to access the accounts using a different IP after I have signed up and want to return to change/add links?

    – “You don’t need to limit yourself to the web 2.0s mentioned above, that’s just what I prefer to use. There are many footprints you can input into the scraper.”

    Footprints:

    site:weebly.com

    site:over-blog.com

      February 28th, 2016 at 2:50 am

      Update:

      Scraped 250k+ links

      556 links met the criteria

Used http://www.checkmoz.com/ to check PA and DA – it takes 100 at a time

Used the affiliate links for the emails and proxy both quick sign ups, but you have to verify your pay pal with the emails before you can buy…Anyway from 250k scraped I found 3 accounts I was able to sign up to with the following metrics:

      PA MOZ Backlinks
      27.85 0 29
      35.96 4.27 1815
      28.12 0 2

Now running a second scrape and going to let it run until it burns out the VPN and all the proxies. Whilst that is running I will set up the Tumblr sites. The one with strongest metrics is a ‘smoking’ related site so perhaps there is some dollars to be hoovered up on that..?

Will follow up with traffic results in due course.

The three test web 2.0s have all lost their juice. A complete reset.

          PA01 and Backlinks 0

Followed the procedure to the letter. What is the likely culprit here for this reset?

          Thanks.

          • March 5th, 2016 at 1:16 pm

Did you check the backlink profile still exists?

          • Ian Hamshaw
            March 5th, 2016 at 7:16 pm

The only way to approach this is with honesty. If you work too late and get too tired you makes mistakes.

http://www.tumblr.com/mysite – never lost its juice at all!

            mysite.tumblr.com – has no juice

So the switching of the site name depends…

So is one url a sub and one a..?

            Anyway they are still working.

Lost the last two scrapes with Powerup Hosting VPS at the Alive/Dead check stage so part two of the experiment has not started yet.

In SB threads are governed by ratio to proxy?

So I use 30 proxies and 8 threads. The scraping uses CPU power and bandwidth, yes?

Alive or dead check (do I need use proxies) and this check uses up the RAM power. yes?

On to stage two as soon as have sorted out Powered Up Hosting

I have used your method to fore google to index Weebly, but it seems that something unexpected happened, just like this: A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt – learn more.
    how about the weebly blog?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:14 pm

All that means is there is no meta description for the SERPs results. As long as the Weebly is indexed and you have an article on it with your link then all is good.

  48. 2.25.2016

good tnx this post is one way secret seo nice !!!!

  49. Shay
    2.25.2016

    Nice post Franklin,
But here’s something to think about when building out those weebly’s.
Even after doing a force index on them, they’re not really indexed.

If you do a search for a phrase or a sentence in quotes from their articles you will see that it’s not showing up on google.
This puts the whole concept of building links from weebly in doubt as we don’t know if those links are credited.

Have you gone ahead and actually tested whether those links actually move ranks?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:17 pm

Hey, yea I test everything I do and if something doesn’t work I don’t use it. In fact some of my strong Weebly blogs have given me the biggest boost on some of my rankings 24 hours after force indexing. I’ll be using them until they don’t move ranks anymore. I’ll know when they become obsolete because quite a few of my sites will drop in rankings.

    2.26.2016

    Hi Matt,

I’ve got 60 Tumblr sites ready to role – do you recommend a gradual deployment of links or just go for it?

Is it not an issue that previously the Tumblr page would have been on a different topic (like we check for on a re-purposed PBN sites)?

Also is this actually safe for a Money Site? Wouldn’t say, a 100 links all from the Tumblr domain to your money site be a big ol footprint?

    Thanks

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:24 pm

Hey, Tumblr is pretty safe considering it’s a reblog platform and some sites get 1000s of backlinks within hours sometimes from viral reblogs. Anyhow I do 3-5 a day when rolling out Tumblr links. As for tumblr topics that really isn’t going to be an issue because it’s the power we want, sure niche relevance might help with tumblrs but I’ve never noticed any difference.

Hey, I do between 2-4 and sometimes use filler content :)

  58. 2.26.2016

    Hey Franklin,

We tested the work around for Weebly and it doesn’t work.

Google bot’s can’t read the pages at all and any link on the Weebly’s is not counting.

    Check it out for yourself.

Add your new found Weebly into Search Console and “Fetch as Google Bot” and you’ll see that it’s blocked. And that system is essentially the same as “Google URL Submit”.

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:27 pm

Hey, works for me and nothing is blocked. There was issues in the past with Weebly strongly blocking specific countries but that would have nothing to do with it anyways. The Weebly I force index are getting indexed and moving ranks. I usually start a new affiliate site every month and use Weebly blogs and they are still working well for me and a couple of my mates who still use them.

  59. geomink
    2.26.2016

    Just a few points:

    a) Yes, with Google addurl the weebly page is indexed; but Google will “see” the link anyway if the robots.txt is set as disallow?

    b) What about put the link into the Tumblr description (link with no redirect) instead of inside the text (link with redirect)?

    c) The great problem is if a competitor discovers the link and tells it to Google; what about this issue?

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:30 pm

      Hey

      a) I’ve tested this many times and the Weebly blogs are still working and moving ranks.

      b) Yeah you can do this if you like

      c) That’s not really a problem, if that was the case and Google followed everyone using web 2.0s for ranking then they would be penalising 1000s a day for it.

  60. 2.27.2016

Great post, love the method and currently giving it a shot myself, and just found 1 real doozy PA 31 71 root domains linking in!

However it seems that the thing that takes the time is checking if they are alive or not.

Is there any way you know of to increase the speed of this process? I am currently using 10 proxies with 20 threads.

    • March 1st, 2016 at 2:49 pm

Wow that is a great find, good job Harry!

You can always add more threads!

really good stuff as always matthew, but how do we do the prospecting for expired blogs for the over-blog and weebly? do we follow exactly the same steps than with tumblr? because I can’t seem to recall we can claim expired domains in overblog o weebly. Also running a quick scrape there seems to be very few available in those two domains, Im talking like 1 in 500 ratio.

    • Franklin

Thank you very much for your guide, Matthew. It’s a great post. But the very problem I face when doing this method is usually web 2.0 links index very slowly. Do you agree with this opinion and do you have any solutions to this? I would really appreciate if you answer this question, thank you.

  65. 2.29.2016

Brilliant guide, I immediately went on to Fiverr to buy some Tumblr and Weebly expired blogs and then fired up Scrapebox as well (I know I’m greedy).

    Couple of quick questions:

    1. Am I right in assuming that to find Weebly expired blogs you follow the same process in scrapebox as Tumblr?

    2. When sending links to my site, do you recommend 20 separate links to the chosen landing page(s); or, one link to the money site and then reblog the link on your other Tumblr blogs?

    Thank you again.

    • March 1st, 2016 at 2:42 pm

No problem Peter, I will allow our resident expert to answer your questions regarding weebly and tunblr :)

    • Franklin
      March 1st, 2016 at 5:35 pm

Hey peter, Yip finding Weebly blogs etc works the same way. I also don’t really mess with reblogs I find it easier to just make separate tumblrs and do a unique post for each one. On the other hand, I’ve never tried reblogs so I’m not sure how effective they are.

  66. Tyler

  67. 3.1.2016

Great post and deffo something I need to start doing.
Can I just ask about the Tumblr re-direct – Is there anything that I would need to do?
Instead of just linking out to your money site link, Tumblr has a new redirect in place like this href=”http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z” + your URL.

    Does Tumblr automatically do this?

sorry might be a dumb question.

    • Franklin
      March 10th, 2016 at 12:12 am

This was talked about in the post and you can find a case study link there. The redirects haven’t had any effect so far.

So I got an account at IPA and have started posting with a batch of tumblrs I had for some time but never used. So far so good just had one tumblr acting strange as in accepts my content but just will not post it just sits there. So on with the rest and see if we can get some results.

How do we know when the links are being counted?

    • March 10th, 2016 at 12:11 am

It’s not a matter of when it’s counted it’s a matter of is it strong enough to make a difference. Get them indexed then let the power do the rest :)

  70. 3.3.2016

Hi Matthew. I have two questions. The first is that after I signed up for different ips after can I submit posts from the same ip? And you submit posts manually or with a software?

    • March 10th, 2016 at 12:10 am

It’s best to always just login and post with different I.Ps, saves you getting banned. Do everything manually :)

  71. 3.3.2016

Great guide. I’ve been using this technique for years, always add many nice web2.0’s to all my networks on dropped domains. Gives a nice diversity – and always good results!

    3.4.2016

hello matthew, only a basic question, how many Money website you usually put in the same pbn?

    • March 5th, 2016 at 1:11 pm

I build site specific PBN’s, eg 1 domain in my PBN only links to the money site once

      • leonardo
        March 6th, 2016 at 11:01 am

yes, only link one time for the same money site. But my doubt is how many different sites to money I can put in 1 pbn? 2, 3, 4. Typically you set up how many?

        • March 8th, 2016 at 12:40 pm

The more you put, the higher your risk is because each site in your PBN will end up having a very similar external link profile

Hi, nice post you got there.

    I have one question.

If i found 1 no-competition long tails keyword with the website that rank #1 on google has no description, title, heading and url related to that keyword.

Then, I use that keyword on my 1-month old website follow by backlink technique mention above.

How long does it take to see the results?

    Thanks

  75. 3.7.2016

Your article is really awesome and killer!

    I have 2 questions.

Can we use this method to build a powerful PBN? and
What is the Google’s view on this method of building backlinks?

    • March 8th, 2016 at 12:39 pm

Google’s view on building any backlinks using any method is it is against their guidelines.

    Hey,

I really enjoyed while reading your article. I have one question.
My tumblrs are already indexed in Google, but not showing up on Ahrefs, GWT and Majestic as backlinks.

Is it because the new “redirect” algo of tumblr?

    • March 10th, 2016 at 12:08 am

Ahrefs and Majestic have never been reliable on picking up links like this. As for webmasters, I found it doesn’t show them all. However they still improve my rankings. I don’t worry too much about that’s showing my backlinks. I get my backlinks indexed then move on to my next project etc.

    Hello! Thanks for the post.

Some days ago, I tried registered an expired Tumblr. But it warned an error and I didn’t get it.

    How to registry this Tumblrs?

    • March 10th, 2016 at 12:06 am

I would suggest reading the post again. You need to go through them until you find working ones.

  78. 3.8.2016

I just wanted to say that I discovered Franklin’s blog about a month ago and his posts reminded me of this blog in terms of value and advice. Cool to a guest post here!

I put a free method into action Franklin shared and I’m sitting on the 1st page for “product name review” with a few days left prior to a launch.

This looks fairly straight forward with the right tools, might give it a shot.

Thanks for a great article Franklin.
    Just a quick question.

Can I use this method to rank local keywords such as dallas plumber, phoenix pool resurfacing, atlanta cosmetic dentist, etc etc?

    Thanks.

    3.10.2016

    Hi Matthew,

I’ve got tumblr acc with PA 31; 84 root domains and 143 total links according to MOZ, but once i entered link in majestic explorer i v got these numbers:

EB: 8.957 ; REF DOM: 5.419; REF IP: 407; REF Subnets: 318. No idea if this could be spammy or good one. Also a question, does TF/CF counts anything here or we should overlook it? Thanks!

    • March 11th, 2016 at 12:05 pm

Well Majestic have a bigger/better database than Moz so I tend to trust Majestic over Moz

  81. George

I dropped links on five expired tumblrs there is no change on my kw,after 3 days when tumblrs got indexed.

    keyword – 28 low competition.

I know this will not booost my rankings in couple days but i’m just waiting for little change.

And last question : Do you search niche relevant tumblrs ?

    • March 11th, 2016 at 12:02 pm

You need a little more patience :)

    • Franklin
      March 16th, 2016 at 1:57 am

As discussed in the article I would start with 20+ Tumblrs. 5 isn’t really enough to do anything unless they are super powerful.

  82. 3.14.2016

So far so good just had one tumblr acting strange as in accepts my content but just will not post it just sits there.

  83. 3.14.2016

How effective is this for Local site ranking?
    Example: Washington Roofers
Lets assume that, that local keyword is having an EMD available.

  84. 3.15.2016

Great post, I will be following, I am just starting out with pbn’s, I have also just bought scrape box for my tumblr sites and FCS networker for posting to my Web 2.0

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:45 pm

Can do what you like sometimes I do both. There is no specific blueprint here it’s all about testing

    Hi ,
Thank you so much for this amazing tutoriel.
I have some questions please :

1-are 20-30 tumblr blogs are enough or i must add other web 2.0?
2-can i send GSA to those tumblr sites ?

Thank you in advance ,i’am a little seo hhh

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:43 pm

you need more than just tumblr and there is no point in doing GSA to them because they should already have links. You can do what you like thought GSA can be used

    Hello , Matt

I have 10 Tumblr all index But Backlink is still not showing up in ahrefs or any other tool is been about 2 month now is this normal?

Also how may post should I do on those expired Tumblr?

    Thanks..

    • Franklin
      April 1st, 2016 at 5:42 pm

Most tools won’t show the link as most of the tools are inaccurate anyways. Doesn’t matter how many post just keep them on the homepage

Do we manually index the backlinks created by the Tumblrs?

The Tumblrs help create the diversity this is why we do not use exact match keywords when creating the backlink.

Do we need to send these backlinks to a link indexer?

We can buy these diversity links on Fiverr, so the same question. We buy 50 web 2.0 backlinks. Do we send these backlinks to a link indexer?

Or have I just spent too long looking at the computer? lol

Doesn’t matter, sites get shared and reblogged by 1000s of tumbles everyday

  93. 3.30.2016

Just bought ScrapeBox and been scraping nonstop the past few days. I tried scraping WordPress blogs, and after a few hours found you can’t reregister them haha.

For Tumblr, you might already know this, but you can bypass the redirect URL by using the post’s HTML editor instead to leave your link.

Great guide! If I set up a tumblr web 2.0, how many different deeplinks do you recommend putting at once on one tumblr? Let’s say I got 3 different articles on my moneysite I’d like to push in serps. Can I just put the 3 links on one tumblr or should I create a single one for every link?

    • Franklin
      April 9th, 2016 at 6:15 am

You can do multiple links per tumblr but just remember the more link you have on 1 tumblr the more the juice is diluted.

  98. 4.8.2016

Hi Mat! I got this now.
1.- scrapebox to get the web 2.0
2.- check the PA (I’m going to use majestic and ahrefs to check TF and spammy links)
3.- register blogs with VPN – question: each tumblr with different email?
4.- post litle articles – question: more articles posted before?
5.- force index on google… but If we use the ADD URL option to force index… we need to use our google credentials. It doesn’t leave footprints?

    amazing post man!! amazing!!

    • April 30th, 2016 at 3:08 pm

The whole Google leaving footprints in force Url is a myth, well I think so anyways since I’ve tested it many times. You are on the right track. You don;t need to post any articles before.

It is really great article and worth to read it.I just want to ask you Is utilizing web 2.0 blogging to create and maintain backlinks for your money sites and niche revenue builders even worth it in the long run?

    Thank you

    • April 30th, 2016 at 3:07 pm

I currently have affiliate sites ranked making me over $100 a day each and they have been for months. It’s worth it 😉 This type of backlinking really the only way to get affiliate sites ranked because whitehat is pretty much dead for scrappy affiliate sites.

How many expired 2.0’s do you usually build before you see results? And do you build them all at the same time, I built 2 expired tumblrs to a site currently ranked 14-16 for a month now, and it went up to 13 and then down to 14-15 right now.

    Best Regards,

One more query for you…Doesn’t Google sees multiple Web 2.0 as a ONE site? Like if we create 2 different Tumblr blogs, and link out to money site. Google give priority to only one Tumblr blog (Skeptical).

        • April 30th, 2016 at 3:03 pm

They still pass juice I’ve tested it a few times now, As for the other question Tumblr is a site when other sites and post go viral everyday getting 1000s of reblogs. There is nothing suspicious about getting multiple links from Tumblr.

    4.30.2016

    Hello Franklin and Matt,

    Thank you for the tutorial!

I have followed the tutorial and have used Scrapebox to find some expired Tumblr accounts, the problem I am having is with the emails to sign up the Tumblrs with.

I bought two different email types from buyaccs.com, but the first ones where Gmail.com USA PVA lasted about 5 days, then they where all band. I was using a VPN no more than 3 per IP and clearing cache and cookies every time. The second batch are Mail.ru I used PIA VPN and no more then 2 per IP and clearing cache and cookies and all I get is needing phone verification.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have a best practice to keep them alive longer than a few days after there guarantee is past?

    • May 7th, 2016 at 12:56 am

I use mail.ru myself and yea I’ve come across this. when the phone verification comes up it should have a country code. Type it in Google then find out what county it is then change your I.P to that country and try again :)

Just let them sit they will index, if they don;t then force them with the Google URL submitter. As for the other question just test and see what works for you. I do 5 max a day.

  114. 5.17.2016

    Hey Matthew.
    Great article here.
So do you seriously just post a picture and then a few lines? Is that enough? How would it work if I posted a unique article on my branded Tumblr, and then reblogged it out on the expired tumblr’s I have registered?

I have 50-60 Tumblr accounts (PA 31-38… some with TF 2, 4 or 5) that I have been setting up, changed apperance, reblogged etc. to make them look alive.

I have reblogged somewhere between 10-23 things on my Tumblr’s – is that a good or bad thing. Should I just leave them be “empty” and start adding links to my site?

I want to use them to rank low keyword difficulty blog posts.
How many Tumblr’s should I use to start ranking a keyword with 30-40 in difficulty (from kwfinder.com or keywordrevealer.com).

Could I use my 50+ Tumblr’s to rank 20+ links on my domain before getting more?

    • Franklin
      May 24th, 2016 at 2:54 am

No offence but to many questions. You will get the replies you are looking for if you just go test. I wrote this article and all I did was start testing with tumblrs. I just did it and noted down what worked and what didn’t. Yes a picture is fine its a image sharing site and yes an article is fine. Juice is juice and tumblr will give it to you no matter how you place the link

I get the same as John. All tumblr subdomains showing as PA94. The subdomains are in this format (xyz.tumblr.com), as shown in the example. Any idea why this is happening? And how to check the PA of the sub-domain?

I tried to “force” google to crawl the website…
Yes, it is indexed in google, but it’s written in the description

    It’s still ok??

Awesome guide. You know I am actually doing this for one of my sites right now. I have a few questions: how many tumblr blogs can you register per 1 email address?

I am currently BUYING high PA tumblr accounts. I have seen two kinds of services. One that gives you the username and password of the entire account, the other in which you have sign up the url with your own email address. So yeah, I already have about 10 accounts on one email address.

Also, should CF or TF matter. I have a few accounts with amazing CF and TF and their ratio, others have 0. Albeit they all have 30+ PA.

    • Atif Qazi
      May 24th, 2016 at 5:49 pm

Just want to add something else.

I have heard the most powerful link from a tumblr blog comes from the blog description because it does not have a redirect? Is that true?

Also would you rather prefer a tumblr blog that has a high PA over a blog that has 0 PA but 100s of RD and Backlinks?

Sorry for asking so many questions XD.

Not really worthless it all depends on what backlinks it has :)

  124. 6.8.2016

    Hi man!

I have this question. Is it bad for SEO if all backlinks to my moneysite come from tumblr’s? I red that you got good results with 41 tumblrs. But is it good to have only tumblr backlinks?

  125. 6.10.2016

    Hi,
I followed this article and scrapped near about 1500 expired tumblr blogs.
But, when I tried to check it PA and DA it showing me same PA, DA and backlinks for all. I check at 99webtool and Moz. How could I find the actual PA and DA of that expired domain.

    • June 10th, 2016 at 12:35 pm

Seems like you are scraping the data for the domain rather than the subdomain

      • June 10th, 2016 at 2:44 pm

No, I scraped data for subdomain, I did the same setups as shown in the above article. I read the article 6 times.
Actually, Moz showing the statistics of Tumblr instead of its sub domain.

  126. 6.11.2016

    Hi Dear,

I can’t find metrics, since january moz showing me tumblr’s metrics, please show me any other site in which i can see metrics or give me a trick

  127. 6.11.2016

    Great article!

When I use the 99webtool site to check backlinks for tumblrs it always says there is 2942914 backlinks.

Do you know why this is?

    • June 13th, 2016 at 9:57 am

Because it is checking the root domain and not the sub domain

    Hi Matthew
    i have a few questions:
“You can stretch it out to 3 accounts per IP max, if you use the same IP to sign up a large amount of Tumblr blogs they will soon start banning them.”

If I sign up a expired Tumblr from Paris IP, then a few days i sign in with US IP, this can lead to banned account?

I ask this thing because I worry if i buy Expired Tumblr accounts (or other expired web2 account) from source-wave, then I logged in at a different country IP, my account will be banned soon.

hope you will give me a clear answer!

    Hello Brother.

    Thanks For Sharing This information.

i was looking for this article.

One Question – I have Blogspot Blogs 3 Years Old. Can i use that for PBN??

  136. 7.3.2016

I just bought 20 registered tumblrs, all pa 30 plus but little trust flow and they’ve been registered on only 2 emails(10per email)… My question is do we need to use a proxy for Every post, or just when we register? Obviously posting these manually thru a proxy is quite a tedious task so my follow up question is can we load these accounts into only wire and post that way… Or perhaps only wire thru a proxy?? We gonna get accounts banned doing that??

  137. Alan
    7.6.2016

    Hey Matthew,

I have a quick question, for emails that you sign up with on tumblr & weebly, I see that you purchased a bulk load of mail.ru. My only question is would having to verify accounts be an issue since we won’t be able to go into the email accounts?

I’ve read from somewhere that you need to verify new accounts or the links won’t take into effect.

And also if you do verify the accounts, how do you access emails you’ve bought from bulk? I only ask because I signed up a few on yahoo accounts I bought but I’m not able to access my yahoo account for some reason (Probably a noob move i’m not doing)

    Thanks

What are your thoughts?
