Income Report Roundup – December 2014

Income report roundupOne of the most popular posts I publish are my income reports.

So I decided to round up as many income reports as possible and rank them based on earnings to see how I stack up against the rest.

If you publish an income report on your blog and would like it included in next month’s post then please let me know in the comments!

Here we go-

#1) – $34,781.06 (+$17,285.22)

Matthew WoodwardWithout doubt the biggest month the blog has ever had by a long long way.

I’ve been trying to break the $20,000 barrier for a while and the stars aligned to push me all the way through the $30k level.

However this was a combination of unique events such as sun setting my product at a reduced rate and Black Friday/Cyber Monday – we will see how things have done since in 2 days.

#2) – $20,751.47 (+$2,017.20)

PinchOfYumThe food blogging duo have had a cracking month and even treated themselves to a Canon 7D MKII!

Most of their income is made up from their Bluehost affiliate sales, own product sales, advertising and media publishers.

If you don’t read every word of their income reports every month then you are seriously missing out on what they share.

#3) – $20,747.58 (+$7,390.99)

MomsMakeMoneyDeby has had her third record breaking month in a row!

It is great to see just how far Deby has come the past year as she continues to go from strength to strength carving her own unique niche into the web.

She sells a range of her own sewing patterns but also recommends related affiliate products across her sites.

#4) – $14,534.00 (+$398.00)

MakingSenseofCentsMichelle started her blog after reading income reports just like you are today.

She has been working full time on her blog now for over a year after leaving her job to focus on her online ventures.

Now everything is settled in she is taking full advantage of her knew found freedom travelling & working as she goes.

#5) – $10,053.00 (+$6,840.00)

TrueValhallaMatt has hit an important milestone with his efforts this month.

First of all he was able to take a huge amount of time off and recharge his battery’s after a year of hard work and growth.

Moving into 2015 he is fully refreshed and has achieved financially stability so he can focus on his bigger/passion projects without worrying about money – that is a good feeling right there.

#6) – $2,269.18 (+$86.81)

MyTanFeetSamantha & Yeison have had a rough month because their main powerful laptop died.

Even with the problem they still managed to squeeze a bit more profit and enjoy their time travelling with a full week off.

I’ll be catching up with them next month at Affiliate Summit to hear all of the stories!

#7) – $2,121.00 (+$187.60)

jasonIt is great to see Jason break the $2k barrier this month!

He has been hard at work all month fixing up some things on the blog to extract more value from his traffic.

Not only is he seeing income grow but he is also seeing every other metric grow across the board which can only mean one thing for the future.

#8) – $825.26 (-$199.74)

digitalnomadUnfortunately Sharon has continued her downward trend of income this month.

However that comes with good reason as the entire family is about to move to Penang which has absorbed a lot of time.

Even though income was down, nearly every other metric was on the rise and those seeds will come to harvest for Sharon in no time at all!

#9) – $715.82 (+$330.96)

lifestyleutmAndreas income has nearly doubled this month.

Even though the blog isn’t his main business focus it is good to see things growing on the sidelines step by step each month.

Over the coming months Andrea is going to launch some interesting experiments to work less and earn more.

#10) – $522.90 (+$147.60)

ranktacticsRizvan continues to grow and is slowly gaining momentum with his blogging efforts.

I’m seeing his name crop up in more and more places recently so it is only a matter of time until he is challenging the top of the leaderboard!

Keep an eye on this one folks! You won’t be disappointed.

#11) – $313.98 (-$588.82)

DumbPassiveIncomeAlthough it looks like Matt tanked this month his income has never been better.

This is down to him buying physical items and then shipping them to Amazon to sell – this has seen a lot of expense this month, but also a lot of income.

Next month though will be a very different story as expenses will be much lower and we might see him break the $5k barrier.

#12) – $135.60 (-$172.40)

smbDave barely tries to monetize his blog as his time is spent elsewhere.

Instead he is focused on building out a number of products and services that he can reap the rewards of for years to come.

I’m currently playing with his new outreach software which is impressive so far – more details soon :)

#13) – $115.50 (+$94.99)

ohpRon is a newcomer to the roundup and posts a profit.

He is at the start of a very long journey but has some very interesting irons in the fire over the coming months.

I will be keeping a close eye on some of his experiments to see what fruit they bear.

#14) – $2.07 (-$1.78)

myrecipeCharlotte is still fighting the good fight with her blog this month.

However I still believe her design and user journey are holding her back and should be a key area of focus urgently.

She doesn’t share key metrics like bounce rate or conversion rate but experience tells me there is huge room for improvement from a design perspective.

In Summary

We have seen some huge increases in earnings for many of the featured bloggers this month.

November is always a big money month for most businesses whether online or offline which you can see in the numbers above.

However that comes with warning because December is often a tough month for bloggers – but who knows what can happen on the wild west of the internet.

Last month the blogs featured earned a total of $74,049.50 but that has grown to a massive $107,890.69 this time around!

I will be publishing my new income report on the 1st of January whilst probably regretting the fact I have to publish them on the 1st after new years eve.

If you feel inspired to follow in their foot steps then why don’t you start a blog today? It only takes a few minutes!

Performance Tracking

I only include the earnings history of the top 10 blogs each month to make the graphs easy to read.

PS: My lame blog also made 4figs as well :) :)

  8. Stefan

Thanks for the roundup Matt. While these are inspirational, it seems like most of these people are in overcrowded niches, so it’s a surprise that they still manage to come out on top.

I know a self hosted blog with your own domain name iis comparatively better than free ones like mine, fyi currently I am not focusing on making money from it, but what is the trend you have observed in term of making money through free blogs.

    • December 31st, 2014 at 11:10 am

If you are going to do it, do it right the first time. You will lose all of your progress if you move to your own domain later for the sake of $10-$15.

I’ve been putting some time into sorting out the design of my blog this month, hopefully you’ll like the changes. I think it’ll be a while before I drag myself off the bottom of you income roundup but I’m finally getting the hang of growing visitors so you should see some positive signs over the next few months.

Thanks for continuing to include me and congratulations on topping the chart.
