About Matthew Woodward
I’m Matt. I’m 25 years young 26 years old and live in the north west of the UK. I make a full time living online and love the internet inside out back to front.
My Background
I started my career online when I was just 13 years old writing games reviews for a website known as NintendoPhiles at the time. Over the next couple of years I developed an interest in competitive gaming and created my first community based website. The website allowed people to share ‘demos’ or short videos of them showing off their best action.
In fact I believe I was the first person to do a 360 no scope in a multiplayer FPS game way back in 2003 (feel free to prove me wrong). When the first video was released people literally went nuts over it and I met a lot of my fans in person at various tournaments.
Here are a couple of videos of me in action way back when (thanks to those that kept hold of these and uploaded them)
Over the next few years I would develop my online skill set, heck I didn’t even know you could make money off the internet back then. I just enjoyed messing around with websites and the like!
Going It Alone
I eventually found myself as head of online marketing for one of the biggest distributors in Europe. I led a range of online marketing campaigns for clients such as Tesco, Asda, Orange, Samsung & Motorola with great success. However the slow pace and rigid nature of the corporate world was falling behind the fast growth and pace of web. There were far too many missed opportunities and frustration led me to pursue my own online marketing ventures.
That was nearly 3 years ago and a lot has changed since then. Working for myself without restriction has allowed me to excel in all areas at a rapid pace. I have researched, built, developed and ranked over 40 websites in the past 3 years while expanding and developing my skill set.
SEO Excites Me
My real passion lies in SEO. I can’t help but get my hands dirty when it comes to ranking websites and it turns out I’m pretty good at it as well! SEO has changed wildly across the last 18 months and it’s this constant change that keeps me hooked, testing and experimenting as I go.
Most people are fearful of Google updating their algorithm, but I actually look forward to the new challenges algorithm changes bring.
Why Setup This Blog?
It is clear from browsing around forums and popular internet marketing blogs that there are a lot of myths and misinformation being spread.
A lot of peoples advice is purely fueled by how much commision the product they are talking about offers without actually having any real hands on experience of using it.
Managing a fleet of websites including everything from identifying emerging markets, designing websites and taking them to the #1 spot in Google has taught me a lot.
What I realised is that I’m not leveraging my most valuable asset, my own personal knowledge and experience.
I decided to setup this blog to share my own learnings and to provide quality advice and tutorials to those who need it.

Let me know if you have any questions, you know where to find me
"I have researched, built, developed and ranked over 40 websites in the past 3 years".
How the hell do you do 40 sites in 3 years? What were they 5 page websites ranking for 5 worded long tail keywords?

I wouldn't say there is anything special about that, the AdsenseFlipper guys create around 120-150 new sites per month. My sites are a mix of small sites with 5-20 pages all the way through to big authority sites with thousands of pages.
Don't forget I setup a lot of 'experiment' sites to just blast and see what happens as well
Awesome Matt Very Impressive Same here love learning keep up the great work.
If Possible with Affiliate Marketing ie making income via Affilaite Products.
Will you do Video Tutorials on start to finish ie keyword/niche research, website creation, linking and maintenance for any noob to make money.
I made my first commissions via PRLog.org putting up images and videos and had 2 $300 sales now have so many programmes don't know where to start lol.
Keep up the Fantastic Site Thanks again Rich Leeds

Thanks Rich.
I was going just do an onsite SEO tutorial but that actually needs to step back to site structure which steps back to keyword/niche research so I will eventually be doing a tutorial that covers everything end to end in terms of site creation.
Any specific questions/areas you would like covered in a tutorial like that?
PS Cool little auto add comment to Facebook… sweet

Hi,
Do you think so? Glad you liked the blog!
Hey! I understand this is kind of off-topic but I
needed to ask. Does managing a well-established website such as yours require a massive amount work?
I am completely new to operating a blog but I do write in my diary on a daily basis.
I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to share my own experience and views online. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

No time for all that anymore
Hi Matt. Addicted to your site , fantastic info. Just wondering, do you offer SEO as a service in the UK or do you make your living via affiliate marketing (aside from this blog)
If you don’t offer SEO, what are your thoughts why not to.. I have heard some say its more profitable to make a living via your own sites than someone elses.
Cheers Matt
Rob

Hi Rob,
I dont do SEO for anyone else just my own sites – but I do work on a coaching/mentor/consultant basis for others.

Hi Rob,
Offering SEO as a service is a very lucrative business and you just need to find the clients that need the work done, but you do need to be charging a decent amount to do good work. I will not work with anyone unless they have a min of £300 budget as it needs to be reinvested to get results.
Working as an affiliate for your own sites is good but I also like meeting new people and making new connections. Don’t be fooled, you can make a VERY good living running an SEO business but you do need to deliver on what you say to otherwise you’ll lose the client.
Very easy to sell if you can demonstrate ability if someone really needs it but budgets must fit though.
Good luck

Thanks – the blog was started at the start of August 2012
Hi Matthew! Stumbled upon your site. Love what you’re doing!
I started learning about SEO a year ago and went from 30 sales in 2 years in my online shop to almost 400 sales in the last year (not actually that much in terms of gross income, but I’m super happy with the increase!). Of course, now I’m hooked and I want to find out what more I can do. Would any of your tutorials be able to help me with my little business? I have mostly learned SEO in relation to Etsy, the platform for my shop, but I do have a FB page, Twitter, and am working on building a blog — all for backlinks.
I really don’t know enough about this stuff to figure out what to do next and how to maximize my efforts. I need some guidance. Any thoughts? Can you recommend one of your tutes? Many thanks, Renee

Hi Renee,
Thanks for your kind words.
I believe this http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-find-engage-your-target-audience-online-for-profit/ is the most valuable tutorial on my entire blog but also one of the least popular.
That would help you out!
